On coupled K\"ahler-Einstein metrics and weighted solitons on Fano manifolds

We consider coupled K\"ahler-Einstein metrics and weighted solitons on Fano manifolds. These are natural generalizations of K\"ahler-Einstein metrics. As in the case of K\"ahler-Einstein metrics, the existence is known to be equivalent to algebraic conditions which generalize the K-polystability. In this survey, we outline recent developments for these two cases.

On weighted extremal K\"ahler metrics

The notion of weighted extremal K\"ahler metrics extends the classical notion of Calabi's extremal K\"ahler metrics, but includes many well-studied objects in K\"ahler geometry such as K\"ahler-Ricci solitons and Sasaki-Einstein metrics. In this paper, after explaining how this notion grew out, we will try to survey recent works concerning the YTD conjecture on weighted extremal K\"ahler metrics.

Cartan Geometry and Infinite-Dimensional Kempf-Ness Theory

We pioneer the development of a rigorous infinite-dimensional framework for the Kempf-Ness theorem, addressing the significant challenge posed by the absence of a complexification for the symmetry group in infinite dimensions, e.g, the diffeomorphism group. We propose a novel approach, based on Cartan bundles, to generalize Kempf-Ness theory to infinite dimensions, invoking the fundamental role played by the Maurer-Cartan form. This approach allows us to define and study objects essential for the Kempf-Ness theorem, such as the complex model for orbits and the Kempf-Ness function, as well as establishing its convexity properties and defining a generalized Futaki character. We show how our framework can be applied to the study of various problems in Kähler geometry, deformation quantization, and gauge theory.

Deformations of Fano manifolds with weighted solitons

We consider weighted solitons on Fano manifolds which include Kaehler-Ricci solitons, Mabuchi solitons and base metrics which induce Calabi-Yau cone metrics outside the zero sections of the canonical line bundles (Sasaki-Einstein metrics on the associated $U(1)$-bundles). In this paper, we give a condition for a weighted soliton on a Fano manifold $M_0$ to extend to weighted solitons on small deformations $M_t$ of the Fano manifold $M_0$. More precisely, we show that all the members $M_t$ of the Kuranishi family of a Fano manifold $M_0$ with a weighted soliton have weighted solitons if and only if the dimensions of $T$-equivariant automorphism groups of $M_t$ are equal to that of $M_0$, and also if and only if the $T$-equivariant automorphism groups of $M_t$ are all isomorphic to that of $M_0$, where the weight functions are defined on the moment polytope of the Hamiltonian $T$-action. This generalizes a result of Cao-Sun-Yau-Zhang for Kaehler-Einstein metrics.

Hodge Laplacian and geometry of Kuranishi family of Fano manifolds

We first obtain eigenvalue estimates for the Hodge Laplacian on Fano manifolds, which follow from the Bochner-Kodaira formula. Then we apply it to study the geometry of the Kuranishi family of deformations of Fano manifolds. We show that the original K\"ahler form remains to be a K\"ahler form for other members of the Kuranishi family, and give an explicit formula of the Ricci potential. We also show that our set-up gives another account for the Donaldson-Fujiki picture.

Moment polytopes on Sasaki manifolds and volume minimization

We show that transverse coupled Kähler-Einstein metrics on toric Sasaki manifolds arise as a critical point of a volume functional. As a preparation for the proof, we re-visit the transverse moment polytopes and contact moment polytopes under the change of Reeb vector fields. Then we apply it to a coupled version of the volume minimization by Martelli-Sparks-Yau. This is done assuming the Calabi-Yau condition of the Kähler cone, and the non-coupled case leads to a known existence result of a transverse Kähler-Einstein metric and a Sasaki-Einstein metric, but the coupled case requires an assumption related to Minkowski sum to obtain transverse coupled Kähler-Einstein metrics.

Irregular Eguchi-Hanson type metrics and their soliton analogues

We verify the extension to the zero section of momentum construction of Kaehler-Einstein metrics and Kaehler-Ricci solitons on the total space Y of positive rational powers of the canonical line bundle of toric Fano manifolds with possibly irregular Sasaki-Einstein metrics. More precisely, we show that the extended metric along the zero section has an expression which can be extended to Y, restricts to the associated unit circle bundle as a transversely Kaehler-Einstein (Sasakian eta-Einstein) metric scaled in the Reeb flow direction, and that there is a Riemannian submersion from the scaled Sasakian eta-Einstein metric to the induced metric of the zero section.

Quantum moment map and obstructions to the existence of closed Fedosov star products

It is shown that the normalized trace of Fedosov star product for quantum moment map depends only on the path component in the cohomology class of the symplectic form and the cohomology class of the closed formal 2-form required to define Fedosov connections (Theorem 1.3). As an application we obtain a family of obstructions to the existence of closed Fedosov star products naturally attached to symplectic manifolds (Theorem 1.5) and Kähler manifolds (Theorem 1.6). These obstructions are integral invariants depending only on the path component of the cohomology class of the symplectic form. Restricted to compact Kähler manifolds we re-discover an obstruction found earlier in [29].

Deformation quantization and Kähler geometry with moment map

In the first part of this paper we outline the constructions and properties of Fedosov star product and Berezin-Toeplitz star product. In the second part we outline the basic ideas and recent developments on Yau-Tian-Donaldson conjecture on the existence of Kähler metrics of constant scalar curvature. In the third part of the paper we outline recent results of both authors, and in particular show that the constant scalar curvature Kähler metric problem and the study of deformation quantization meet at the notion of trace (density) for star product. We formulate a cohomology formula for the invariant of K-stability condition on Kähler metrics with constant Cahen-Gutt momentum.

Residue formula for an obstruction to Coupled Kähler-Einstein metrics

We obtain a residue formula for an obstruction to the existence of coupled Kähler-Einstein metrics described by Futaki-Zhang. We apply it to an example studied separately by Futaki and Hultgren which is a toric Fano manifold with reductive automorphism, does not admit a Kähler-Einstein metric but still admits coupled Kähler-Einstein metrics.

Coupled Sasaki-Ricci solitons

Motivated by the study of coupled Kähler-Einstein metrics by Hultgren and Witt Nyström and coupled Kähler-Ricci solitons by Hultgren, we study in this paper coupled Sasaki-Einstein metrics and coupled Sasaki-Ricci solitons. We first show an isomorphism between the Lie algebra of all transverse holomorphic vector fields and certain space of coupled basic functions related to coupled twisted Laplacians for basic functions, and obtain extensions of the well-known obstructions to the existence of Kähler-Einstein metrics to this coupled case. These results are reduced to coupled Kähler-Einstein metrics when the Sasaki structure is regular. Secondly we show the existence of toric coupled Sasaki-Einstein metrics when the basic first Chern class is positive extending the work of Hultgren.

Cahen-Gutt moment map, closed Fedosov star product and structure of the automorphism group

We show that if a compact Kaehler manifold $M$ of non-negative Ricci curvature admits closed Fedosov star product then the reduced Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields on $M$ is reductive. This comes in pair with the obstruction previously found by La Fuente-Gravy. More generally we consider the squared norm of Cahen-Gutt moment map as in the same spirit of Calabi functional for the scalar curvature in cscK problem, and prove a Cahen-Gutt version of Calabi's theorem on the structure of the Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields for extremal Kaehler manifolds. The proof uses a Hessian formula for the squared norm of Cahen-Gutt moment map.

Volume minimization and obstructions to solving some problems in Kähler geometry

There is an obstruction to the existence of Kähler -Einstein metrics which is used to define the GIT weight for K-stability, and it has been extended to various geometric problems. This survey paper considers such extended obstructions to the existence problem of Kähler -Ricci solitons, Sasaki-Einstein metrics and (conformally) Einstein-Maxwell Kähler metrics. These three cases have a common feature that the obstructions are parametrized by a space of vector fields. We see, in these three cases, the obstructions are obtained as the derivative of suitable volume functionals. This tells us for which vector fields we should try to solve the existence problems.

On the existence problem of Einstein-Maxwell Kähler metrics

In this expository paper we review on the existence problem of Einstein-Maxwell Kähler metrics, and make several remarks. Firstly, we consider a slightly more general set-up than Einstein-Maxwell Kähler metrics, and give extensions of volume minimization principle, the notion of toric K-stability and other related results to the general set-up. Secondly, we consider the toric case when the manifold is the one point blow-up of the complex project plane and the Kähler class $Ω$ is chosen so that the area of the exceptional curve is sufficiently close to the area of the rational curve of self-intersection number 1. We observe by numerical analysis that there should be a Killing vector field $K$ which gives a toric K-stable pair $(Ω, K)$ in the sense of Apostolov-Maschler.

Volume minimization and Conformally Kähler, Einstein-Maxwell geometry

Let $M$ be a compact complex manifold admitting a Kähler structure. A conformally Kähler, Einstein-Maxwell metric (cKEM metric for short) is a Hermitian metric $\tilde{g}$ on $M$ with constant scalar curvature such that there is a positive smooth function $f$ with $g = f^2 \tilde{g}$ being a Kähler metric and $f$ being a Killing Hamiltonian potential with respect to $g$. Fixing a Kähler class, we characterize such Killing vector fields whose Hamiltonian function $f$ with respect to some Kähler metric $g$ in the fixed Kähler class gives a cKEM metric $\tilde{g} = f^{-2}g$. The characterization is described in terms of critical points of certain volume functional. The conceptual idea is similar to the cases of Kähler-Ricci solitons and Sasaki-Einstein metrics in that the derivative of the volume functional gives rise to a natural obstruction to the existence of cKEM metrics. However, unlike the Kähler-Ricci soliton case and Sasaki-Einstein case, the functional is neither convex nor proper in general, and often has more than one critical points. The last observation matches well with the ambitoric examples studied earlier by LeBrun and Apostolov-Maschler.

Conformally Einstein-Maxwell Kähler metrics and structure of the automorphism group

Let $(M,g)$ be a compact Kähler manifold and $f$ a positive smooth function such that its Hamiltonian vector field $K = J\mathrm{grad}_g f$ for the Kähler form $ω_g$ is a holomorphic Killing vector field. We say that the pair $(g,f)$ is conformally Einstein-Maxwell Kähler metric if the conformal metric $\tilde g = f^{-2}g$ has constant scalar curvature. In this paper we prove a reductiveness result of the reduced Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields for conformally Einstein-Maxwell Kähler manifolds, extending the Lichnerowicz-Matsushima Theorem for constant scalar curvature Kähler manifolds. More generally we consider extensions of Calabi functional and extremal Kähler metrics, and prove an extension of Calabi's theorem on the structure of the Lie algebra of holomorphic vector fields for extremal Kähler manifolds. The proof uses a Hessian formula for the Calabi functional under the set up of Donaldson-Fujiki picture.

Fano-Ricci limit spaces and spectral convergence

We study the behavior under Gromov-Hausdorff convergence of the spectrum of weighted $\barpartial$-Laplacian on compact Kähler manifolds. This situation typically occurs for a sequence of Fano manifolds with anticanonical Kähler class. We apply it to show that, if an almost smooth Fano-Ricci limit space admits a Kähler-Ricci limit soliton and the space of all $L^2$ holomorphic vector fields with smooth potentials is a Lie algebra with respect to the Lie bracket, then the Lie algebra has the same structure as smooth Kähler-Ricci solitons. In particular if a $\Q$-Fano variety admits a Kähler-Ricci limit soliton and all holomorphic vector fields are $L^2$ with smooth potentials then the Lie algebra has the same structure as smooth Kähler-Ricci solitons. If the sequence consists of Kähler-Ricci solitons then the Ricci limit space is a weak Kähler-Ricci soliton on a $\mathbb{Q}$-Fano variety and the space of limits of $1$ eigenfunctions for the weighted $\barpartial$-Laplacian forms a Lie algebra with respect to the Poisson bracket and admits a similar decomposition as smooth Kähler-Ricci solitons.
