Integrality theorems in the theory of topological strings

We give a simplified derivation of the expression of instanton numbers and of mirror map in terms of Frobenius map on p-adic cohomology and use this expression to prove integrality theorems. Modifying this proof we verify that the Aganagic-Vafa formulas for the number of holomorphic disks can be expressed in terms of Frobenius map on p-adic relative cohomology; this expression permits us to prove integrality of this number.

Twisted de Rham cohomology, homological definition of the integral and "Physics over a ring"

We define the twisted de Rham cohomology and show how to use it to define the notion of an integral of the form $\int g(x) e^{f(x)}dx$ over an arbitrary ring. We discuss also a definition of a family of integrals and some properties of the homological definition of integral. We show how to use the twisted de Rham cohomology in order to define the Frobenius map on the p-adic cohomology. Finally, we consider two-dimensional topological quantum field theories with general coefficients.

Frobenius transformation, mirror map and instanton numbers

We show that one can express Frobenius transformation on middle-dimensional p-adic cohomology of Calabi-Yau threefold in terms of mirror map and instanton numbers. We express the mirror map in terms of Frobenius transformation on p-adic cohomology . We discuss a $p$-adic interpretation of the conjecture about integrality of Gopakumar-Vafa invariants.

Integrality of instanton numbers and p-adic B-model

We study integrality of instanton numbers (genus zero Gopakumar - Vafa invariants) for quintic and other Calabi-Yau manifolds. We start with the analysis of the case when the moduli space of complex structures is one-dimensional; later we show that our methods can be used to prove integrality in general case. We give an expression of instanton numbers in terms of Frobenius map on $p$-adic cohomology ; the proof of integrality is based on this expression.

Symmetries of WDVV equations

We say that a function F(tau) obeys WDVV equations, if for a given invertible symmetric matrix eta^{alpha beta} and all tau \in T \subset R^n, the expressions c^{alpha}_{beta gamma}(tau) = eta^{alpha lambda} c_{lambda beta gamma}(tau) = eta^{alpha lambda} \partial_{lambda} \partial_{beta} \partial_{gamma} F can be considered as structure constants of commutative associative algebra; the matrix eta_{alpha beta} inverse to η^{αβ} determines an invariant scalar product on this algebra. A function x^{alpha}(z, tau) obeying \partial_{alpha} \partial_{beta} x^{gamma} (z, tau) = z^{-1} c^{varepsilon}_{alpha beta} \partial_{epsilon} x^{gamma} (z, tau) is called a calibration of a solution of WDVV equations. We show that there exists an infinite-dimensional group acting on the space of calibrated solutions of WDVV equations (in different form such a group was constructed in [2]). We describe the action of Lie algebra of this group.

Khovanov-Rozansky Homology and Topological Strings

We conjecture a relation between the sl(N) knot homology, recently introduced by Khovanov and Rozansky, and the spectrum of BPS states captured by open topological strings. This conjecture leads to new regularities among the sl(N) knot homology groups and suggests that they can be interpreted directly in topological string theory. We use this approach in various examples to predict the sl(N) knot homology groups for all values of N. We verify that our predictions pass some non-trivial checks.

Categories of holomorphic vector bundles on noncommutative two-tori

In this paper we study the category of standard holomorphic vector bundles on a noncommutative two-torus. We construct a functor from the derived category of such bundles to the derived category of coherent sheaves on an elliptic curve and prove that it induces an equivalence with the subcategory of stable objects. By the homological mirror symmetry for elliptic curves this implies an equivalence between the derived category of holomorphic bundles on a noncommutative two-torus and the Fukaya category of the corresponding symplectic (commutative) torus.

Differential and complex geometry of two-dimensional noncommutative tori

We analyze in detail projective modules over two-dimensional noncommutative tori and complex structures on these modules. We concentrate our attention on properties of holomorphic vectors in these modules; the theory of these vectors generalizes the theory of theta-functions. The paper is self-contained; it can be used also as an introduction to the theory of noncommutative spaces with simplest space of this kind thoroughly analyzed as a basic example.

Noncommutative supergeometry, duality and deformations

We introduce a notion of $Q$-algebra that can be considered as a generalization of the notion of $Q$-manifold (a supermanifold equipped with an odd vector field obeying $\{Q,Q\} =0$). We develop the theory of connections on modules over $Q$-algebras and prove a general duality theorem for gauge theories on such modules. This theorem containing as a simplest case $SO(d,d,{\bf Z})$-duality of gauge theories on noncommutative tori can be applied also in more complicated situations. We show that $Q$-algebras appear naturally in Fedosov construction of formal deformation of commutative algebras of functions and that similar $Q$-algebras can be constructed also in the case when the deformation parameter is not formal.

Gauge theories on noncommutative euclidean spaces

We consider gauge theories on noncommutative euclidean space . In particular, we discuss the structure of gauge group following standard mathematical definitions and using the ideas of hep-th/0102182.

Theta-functions on noncommutative tori

Ordinary theta-functions can be considered as holomorphic sections of line bundles over tori. We show that one can define generalized theta-functions as holomorphic elements of projective modules over noncommutative tori (theta-vectors). The theory of these new objects is not only more general, but also much simpler than the theory of ordinary theta-functions. It seems that the theory of theta-vectors should be closely related to Manin's theory of quantized theta-functions, but we don't analyze this relation.

Noncommutative instantons: a new approach

We discuss instantons on noncommutative four-dimensional Euclidean space. In commutative case one can consider instantons directly on Euclidean space, then we should restrict ourselves to the gauge fields that are gauge equivalent to the trivial field at infinity. However, technically it is more convenient to work on four-dimensional sphere. We will show that the situation in noncommutative case is quite similar. One can analyze instantons taking as a starting point the algebra of smooth functions vanishing at infinity, but it is convenient to add a unit element to this algebra (this corresponds to a transition to a sphere at the level of topology). Our approach is more rigorous than previous considerations ; it seems that it is also simpler and more transparent. In particular, we obtain the ADHM equations in a very simple way.

Topological quantum field theories

Following my plenary lecture on ICMP2000 I review my results concerning two closely related topics: topological quantum field theories and the problem of quantization of gauge theories. I start with old results (first examples of topological quantum field theories were constructed in my papers in late seventies) and I come to some new results, that were not published yet.

Noncommutative Algebraic Equations and Noncommutative Eigenvalue Problem

We analyze the perturbation series for noncommutative eigenvalue problem $AX=Xλ$ where $λ$ is an element of a noncommutative ring, $ A$ is a matrix and $X$ is a column vector with entries from this ring. As a corollary we obtain a theorem about the structure of perturbation series for Tr $x^r$ where $x$ is a solution of noncommutative algebraic equation (for $r=1$ this theorem was proved by Aschieri, Brace, Morariu, and Zumino, hep-th/0003228, and used to study Born-Infeld lagrangian for the gauge group $U(1)^k$).

Noncommutative supergeometry and duality

We introduce a notion of Q-algebra that can be considered as a generalization of the notion of Q-manifold (a supermanifold equipped with an odd vector field obeying {Q,Q} =0). We develop the theory of connections on modules over Q-algebras and prove a general duality theorem for gauge theories on such modules. This theorem contains as a simplest case SO(d,d,{\bf Z})-duality of gauge theories on noncommutative tori.

Projective modules over non-commutative tori: classification of modules with constant curvature connection

We study finitely generated projective modules over noncommutative tori. We prove that for every module $E$ with constant curvature connection the corresponding element $[E]$ of the K-group is a generalized quadratic exponent and, conversely, for every positive generalized quadratic exponent $μ$ in the K-group one can find such a module $E$ with constant curvature connection that $[E] = μ$. In physical words we give necessary and sufficient conditions for existence of 1/2 BPS states in terms of topological numbers.
