Probing black holes extremality bounds with non-extensive entropies

Due to the importance of studying quantum-gravity-induced corrections to Einstein's theory of gravity, it is of interest to consider non-extensive entropies whose potential applications include identifying such corrections. In this Letter, we investigate possible corrections to a universal relation associated with the extremality bound of the mass of a black hole by employing entropies defined as functions of the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy.

$BF$ effective action topological implications

We investigate the effective action of a 7-dimensional topological $BF$ theory under a 4-dimensional reduction. We discuss the topological implications of the resulting theory and analyze the corresponding field equations. In particular, we derive exact solutions to these equations of motion in both Minkowski and Schwarzschild spacetimes.

On superstatistics and black hole quasinormal modes

It is known that using Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics, Bekenstein-Hawking entropy $S_{HB}$, and the quasinormal modes of black holes, one finds that the lowest value of spin is $j_{min}=1$. In this paper, we determine $j_{min}$, using non-extensive entropies that depend only on the probability (known as Obregon's entropies and have been derived from superstatistics). We also calculate $j_{min}$ for a set of non-extensive entropies that have free parameters and are written in terms of $S_{BH}$. We find that $j_{min}$ depends on the area and the non-extensive parameter. For the non-extensive entropies that only depend on the probability, we find that the modification is only present for micro black holes. For classical black holes the results are the same as for the Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics.

Non Abelian T-duality in Gauged Linear Sigma Models

Abelian T-duality in Gauged Linear Sigma Models (GLSM) forms the basis of the physical understanding of Mirror Symmetry as presented by Hori and Vafa. We consider an alternative formulation of Abelian T-duality on GLSM's as a gauging of a global $U(1)$ symmetry with the addition of appropriate Lagrange multipliers. For GLSMs with Abelian gauge groups and without superpotential we reproduce the dual models introduced by Hori and Vafa. We extend the construction to formulate non-Abelian T-duality on GLSMs with global non-Abelian symmetries. The equations of motion that lead to the dual model are obtained for a general group, they depend in general on semi-chiral superfields; for cases such as $SU(2)$ they depend on twisted chiral superfields. We solve the equations of motion for an $SU(2)$ gauged group with a choice of a particular Lie algebra direction of the vector superfield. This direction covers a non-Abelian sector that can be described by a family of Abelian dualities. The dual model Lagrangian depends on twisted chiral superfields and a twisted superpotential is generated. We explore some non-perturbative aspects by making an Ansatz for the instanton corrections in the dual theories. We verify that the effective potential for the $U(1)$ field strength in a fixed configuration on the original theory matches the one of the dual theory. Imposing restrictions on the vector superfield, more general non-Abelian dual models are obtained. We analyze the dual models via the geometry of their susy vacua.

Modified entropies, their corresponding Newtonian forces, potentials, and temperatures

Assuming the hypothesis of the entropic nature of gravity, we calculate generalized Newtonian forces, their associated potentials and field equations, when other, in general non-extensive, entropies are considered instead of the usual Boltzmann entropy. Some comments about the nature of the correction terms presented are given, and a calculation of corrections to the Bekenstein-Hawking temperature is performed using the arguments which lead to what can be called a Michell-Laplace black hole.

Newtonian black holes: Particle production, "Hawking" temperature, entropies and entropy field equations

Newtonian gravitation with some slight modifications, along with some highly simplified ideas from quantum field theory allow us to reproduce, at least at the level of back-of-the-envelope calculations, many results of black hole physics. We consider particle production by a black hole, the Newtonian equivalent of the Hawking temperature, and the Bekenstein entropy. Also, we are able to deduce Newtonian field equations from entropy. We finally study higher-order Newtonian theories under the same assumptions used for ordinary Newtonian theory. In a companion article we will look at entropic forces for various entropies and make contact with our analysis of higher-order Newtonian theories.
