Canonical frames in contact 3-manifolds and applications

We study contact 3-manifolds $Y$ with a special global frame inspired by Cartan's structure equations. This frame is dual to a generalized Finsler structure defined by Bryant. We present some examples and rigidity results on the class of manifolds whose frame satisfies certain natural conditions on a scalar function $K\colon Y\to \mathbb{R}$, related to the frame. This function realizes the curvature when $Y$ is the unit tangent bundle with respect to a metric on a surface. As applications, we obtain sharp estimates for the action of a Reeb orbit in terms of this scalar function, under the assumption that the frame satisfies specific conditions. In particular, we recover a classical upper bound on the systole of positively curved metrics on $S^2$ due to Toponogov.

On Lagrangian barriers and applications of Non-Squeezing

In this note we show the existence of Lagrangian barriers in a certain class of domains in $\mathbb{R}^{2n}$, including dual Lagrangian products and some ``sufficiently" round domains. Many of these results come as applications of the Non-Squeezing Theorem. We also give a new interesting application of the Non-Squeezing Theorem and the Symplectic Camel Theorem.

On singular Lagrangian fibrations and applications to symplectic embeddings I

In this paper, we construct singular Lagrangian fibrations on some examples of disk cotangent bundles in dimensions 4 and 6. As an application, we show how this construction can be used to obtain toric domains in some cases. In particular, we recover results from Ferreira, Ramos, and Vicente on the Gromov width of the disk cotangent bundle of spheres of revolution, as well as results from Ramos on the Lagrangian bidisk. We also briefly discuss how this technique can be used to study symplectic embedding problems.

The strong Viterbo conjecture and various flavours of duality in Lagrangian products

In this note we analyze normalized symplectic capacities for two different notions of duality in Lagrangian products. Let $\Phi$ be a $n$-tuple of Young functions with Legendre transform $n$-tuple $\Phi^*$ and $K_{\Phi}$ the unit ball for the Luxemburg metric induced by $\Phi$. We can consider the ``dual functional" Lagrangian product $K_{\Phi}\times_LK_{\Phi^*}$ and the usual polar dual Lagrangian product $K_{\Phi}\times_L K_{\Phi}^{\circ}$. We show that for the former, all normalized symplectic capacities agree, while for the latter, we give a lower bound depending on $\Phi$. In particular, under certain conditions on the $n$-tuple $\Phi$, we get that $c(K_{\Phi}\times_L K_{\Phi}^{\circ})=4$, for any normalized symplectic capacity, that is, the strong Viterbo conjecture holds.

Gromov width of the disk cotangent bundle of spheres of revolution

Inspired by work of the first and second author, this paper studies the Gromov width of the disk cotangent bundle of spheroids and Zoll spheres of revolution. This is achieved with the use of techniques from integrable systems and embedded contact homology capacities.
