Hodge theoretic results for nearly Kähler manifolds in all dimensions

We generalize to nearly Kähler manifolds of arbitrary dimensions most of the Hodge-theoretic results for nearly Kähler $6$-manifolds that were established by Verbitsky. In particular, for a compact nearly Kähler manifold of any dimension, the (appropriately defined) Hodge numbers are related to the Betti numbers in the same way as on a compact Kähler manifold. In the $6$-dimensional case, Verbitsky was able to say slightly more using the induced $\mathrm{SU}(3)$ structure. We discuss potential extensions of this to twistor spaces over positive scalar curvature quaternionic-Kähler manifolds, which are a particular class of $(4n+2)$-dimensional nearly Kähler manifolds equipped with a special $\mathrm{SU}(n) \! \cdot \! \mathrm{U}(1)$ structure.

Topology of Almost Complex Structures on Six-Manifolds

We study the space of (orthogonal) almost complex structures on closed six-dimensional manifolds as the space of sections of the twistor space for a given metric. For a connected six-manifold with vanishing first Betti number, we express the space of almost complex structures as a quotient of the space of sections of a seven-sphere bundle over the manifold by a circle action, and then use this description to compute the rational homotopy theoretic minimal model of the components that satisfy a certain Chern number condition. We further obtain a formula for the homological intersection number of two sections of the twistor space in terms of the Chern classes of the corresponding almost complex structures.

Verifying the Hilali conjecture up to formal dimension twenty

We prove that in formal dimension $\leq 20$ the Hilali conjecture holds, i.e. that the total dimension of the rational homology bounds from above the total dimension of the rational homotopy for a simply connected rationally elliptic space.

Infinite symmetric products of rational algebras and spaces

We show that the infinite symmetric product of a connected graded-commutative algebra over the rationals is naturally isomorphic to the free graded-commutative algebra on the positive degree subspace of the original algebra. In particular, the infinite symmetric product of a connected commutative (in the usual sense) graded algebra over the rationals is a polynomial algebra. Applied to topology, we obtain a quick proof of the Dold-Thom theorem in rational homotopy theory for connected spaces of finite type. We also show that finite symmetric products of certain simple free graded commutative algebras are free; this allows us to determine minimal Sullivan models for finite symmetric products of complex projective spaces.
