Matrix formulation of superspace on 1D lattice with two supercharges

Following the approach developed by some of the authors in recent papers and using a matrix representation for the superfields, we formulate an exact supersymmetric theory with two supercharges on a one dimensional lattice. In the superfield formalism supersymmetry transformations are uniquely defined and do not suffer of the ambiguities recently pointed out by some authors. The action can be written in a unique way and it is invariant under all supercharges. A modified Leibniz rule applies when supercharges act on a superfield product and the corresponding Ward identities take a modified form but hold exactly at least at the tree level, while their validity in presence of radiative corrections is still an open problem and is not considered here.

Evidence for a floating phase of the transverse ANNNI model at high frustration

We study the transverse quantum ANNNI model in the region of high frustration (k>0.5) using the DMRG algorithm. We obtain a precise determination of the phase diagram, showing clear evidence for the existence of a floating phase, separated from the paramagnetic modulated phase by a high-order critical line ending at the multicritical point. We obtain simple and accurate formulae for the two critical lines.

Density Matrix Renormalization Group Study of the Disorder Line in the Quantum ANNNI Model

We apply Density Matrix Renormalization Group methods to study the phase diagram of the quantum ANNNI model in the region of low frustration where the ferromagnetic coupling is larger than the next-nearest-neighbor antiferromagnetic one. By Finite Size Scaling on lattices with up to 80 sites we locate precisely the transition line from the ferromagnetic phase to a paramagnetic phase without spatial modulation. We then measure and analyze the spin-spin correlation function in order to determine the disorder transition line where a modulation appears. We give strong numerical support to the conjecture that the Peschel-Emery one-dimensional line actually coincides with the disorder line. We also show that the critical exponent governing the vanishing of the modulation parameter at the disorder transition is $β_q = 1/2$.

Critical behavior in a non-local interface model

The Raise and Peel model is a recently proposed one-dimensional statistical model describing a fluctuating interface. The evolution of the model follows from the competition between adsorption and desorption processes. The model is non-local due to the possible occurrence of avalanches. At a special ratio of the adsorption-desorption rates the model is integrable and many rigorous results are known. Off the critical point, the phase diagram and scaling properties are not known. In this paper, we search for indications of phase transition studying the gap in the spectrum of the non-hermitian generator of the stochastic interface evolution. We present results for the gap obtained from exact diagonalization and from Monte Carlo estimates derived from temporal correlations of various observables.

The high density region of QCD in a large mass and chemical potential model

We study the high density region of QCD within an effective model obtained in the frame of the hopping parameter expansion. The model still acknowledges the sign problem peculiar to non-zero chemical potential, but it permits the development of refined algorithms which ensure a good overlap of the Monte Carlo ensemble with the true one. We review the main features of the model, including the most explicit form of the resumed expansion, and present calculations concerning the dependence of various observables on the chemical potential and on the temperature, in particular of the charge density and the diquark susceptibility, which may be used to characterize the various phases expected at high baryonic density.

Dynamical supersymmetry breaking and phase diagram of the lattice Wess-Zumino model

We study dynamical supersymmetry breaking and the transition point by non-perturbative lattice techniques in a class of two-dimensional N=1 Wess-Zumino model. The method is based on the calculation of rigorous lower bounds on the ground state energy density in the infinite-lattice limit. Such bounds are useful in the discussion of supersymmetry phase transition. The transition point is determined with this method and then compared with recent results based on large-scale Green Function Monte Carlo simulations with good agreement.

Exact lattice Ward-Takahashi identity for the N=1 Wess-Zumino model

We consider a lattice formulation of the four dimensional N=1 Wess-Zumino model that uses the Ginsparg-Wilson relation. This formulation has an exact supersymmetry on the lattice. We show that the corresponding Ward-Takahashi identity is satisfied, both at fixed lattice spacing and in the continuum limit. The calculation is performed in lattice perturbation theory up to order $g^2$ in the coupling constant. We also show that this Ward-Takahashi identity determines the finite part of the scalar and fermion renormalization wave functions which automatically leads to restoration of supersymmetry in the continuum limit. In particular, these wave functions coincide in this limit.

Predictions and recent results in susy on the lattice

In this brief review, I summarize the current theoretical knowledge in supersymmetry on the lattice, with special emphasis on recent results in the framework of N=1 supersymmetric Yang Mills theory, Wess-Zumino model and Yang-Mills theory with extended supersymmetries.

Exact supersymmetry on the lattice: the Wess-Zumino model

It is shown that the lattice Wess-Zumino model written in terms of Ginsparg-Wilson fermions is invariant under a generalized supersymmetry transformation which is determined by an iterative procedure in the coupling constant. This transformation is non-linear in the scalar fields and depends on the superpotential parameters. The implications of this lattice invariance are discussed.

Wess-Zumino model with exact supersymmetry on the lattice

A lattice formulation of the four dimensional Wess-Zumino model that uses Ginsparg-Wilson fermions and keeps exact supersymmetry is presented. The supersymmetry transformation that leaves invariant the action at finite lattice spacing is determined by performing an iterative procedure in the coupling constant. The closure of the algebra, generated by this transformation is also showed.

Phase diagram of the lattice Wess-Zumino model from rigorous lower bounds on the energy

We study the lattice N=1 Wess-Zumino model in two dimensions and we construct a sequence $ρ^{(L)}$ of exact lower bounds on its ground state energy density $ρ$, converging to $ρ$ in the limit $L\to\infty$. The bounds $ρ^{(L)}$ can be computed numerically on a finite lattice with $L$ sites and can be exploited to discuss dynamical symmetry breaking. The transition point is determined and compared with recent results based on large-scale Green Function Monte Carlo simulations with good agreement.

The Supersymmetric Ward-Takahashi Identity in 1-Loop Lattice Perturbation Theory. I. General Procedure

The one-loop corrections to the lattice supersymmetric Ward-Takahashi identity (WTi) are investigated in the off-shell regime. In the Wilson formulation of the N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills (SYM) theory, supersymmetry (SUSY) is broken by the lattice, by the Wilson term and is softly broken by the presence of the gluino mass. However, the renormalization of the supercurrent can be realized in a scheme that restores the continuum supersymmetric WTi (once the on-shell condition is imposed). The general procedure used to calculate the renormalization constants and mixing coefficients for the local supercurrent is presented. The supercurrent not only mixes with the gauge invariant operator $T_μ$. An extra mixing with other operators coming from the WTi appears. This extra mixing survives in the continuum limit in the off-shell regime and cancels out when the on-shell condition is imposed and the renormalized gluino mass is set to zero. Comparison with numerical results are also presented.

Supersymmetry breaking in two dimensions: the lattice N=1 Wess-Zumino model

We study dynamical supersymmetry breaking by non perturbative lattice techniques in a class of two-dimensional N=1 Wess-Zumino models. We work in the Hamiltonian formalism and analyze the phase diagram by analytical strong-coupling expansions and explicit numerical simulations with Green Function Monte Carlo methods.

Non perturbative study of QCD on a 2+2 anisotropic lattice

We present preliminary results for a non perturbative determination of the parameters in the action required to restore Lorentz invariance in long distance correlators, using the static interquark potential. Comparison with analytical results is made and further applications are discussed.

The 2+2 anisotropic Wilson gluon action with applications

A generalization of anisotropic lattices to include a 2+2 discretization is discussed. As a part of this program, we determine the one-loop correction to the gluon self-energy and analyse the restoration of Lorentz invariance in on-shell states for both the 2+2 and 3+1 cases. A 2+2 Wilson-like fermion action is also considered.

Gauge Theories on a 2+2 Anisotropic Lattice

The implementation of gauge theories on a four-dimensional anisotropic lattice with two distinct lattice spacings is discussed, with special attention to the case where two axes are finely and two axes are coarsely discretized. Feynman rules for the Wilson gauge action are derived and the renormalizability of the theory and the recovery of the continuum limit are analyzed. The calculation of the gluon propagator and the restoration of Lorentz invariance in on-shell states is presented to one-loop order in lattice perturbation theory for $SU(N_c)$ on both 2+2 and 3+1 lattices.
