Koszulity of a certain dioperad

We establish that the dioperad $Y^{(n)}$, encoding bialgebras with a product of degree zero, a coproduct of degree $(1-n)$ and a rank three cyclic tensor, which satisfy a deformed version of the balanced infinitesimal bialgebra condition, is Koszul. This result is established by studying specific subcomplexes of the assocoipahedra of Poirier and Tradler. These subcomplexes are related to a certain type of meromorphic quadratic differential on $\mathbb{CP}^1$, which we call cloven Strebel differentials. Using that geometric interpretation, we can control the topology of the relevant subcomplexes and deduce the vanishing of higher cohomology of the corresponding dioperadic bar complexes.

String topology via the coHochschild complex and local intersections

We construct an algebraic model for the Chas-Sullivan product and the Goresky-Hingston coproduct in string topology. The construction takes as its initial input a simplicial complex equipped with a local pairing on its simplicial chains, for instance, a homology manifold with its local intersection pairing. We define the two string topology operations on the coHochschild complex of a suitable coalgebra of chains, making use of local higher homotopies that control the compatibility of the pairing with the diagonal approximation coproduct. In the case of a closed oriented smooth manifold, we prove that our algebraic operations coincide, up to chain homotopy, with their geometric counterparts. The local nature of our constructions allows for arguments based on the method of acyclic models.

Properadic coformality of spheres

We define a properad $Y^{(n)}_\infty$ that encodes $n$-pre-Calabi--Yau algebras with vanishing copairing. These algebras include chains on the based loop space of any space $X$ endowed with a fundamental class $[X]$ such that $(X,[X])$ satisfies Poincar\'e duality of degree $n \geqslant 1$ with local system coefficients, such as an oriented manifold. Extending the notion of coformality of spaces, we define coformality of such a pair $(X,[X])$ in terms of properadic formality of $Y^{(n)}_\infty$-algebra structures on $C_*(\Omega X)$. Using a refined version of properadic Kaledin classes, we establish the intrinsic coformality of all spheres in characteristic zero.

Algebraic string topology from the neighborhood of infinity

We construct and study an algebraic analogue of the loop coproduct in string topology, also known as the Goresky-Hingston coproduct. Our algebraic setup, which under this analogy takes the place of the complex of chains on the free loop space of a possibly non-simply connected manifold, is the Hochschild chain complex of a smooth $A_{\infty}$-category equipped with a pre-Calabi-Yau structure and a trivialization of a version of the Chern character of its diagonal bimodule. The algebraic analogue of the loop coproduct is part of a more general mapping cone construction, which we describe in terms of the categorical formal punctured neighborhood of infinity associated to the underlying smooth $A_\infty$-category. We use a graphical formalism for $A_\infty$-categories and bimodules to describe explicit models for the operations and homotopies involved. We also compute explicitly the algebraic coproduct in the context of the string topology of spheres.

Smooth Calabi-Yau structures and the noncommutative Legendre transform

We elucidate the relation between smooth Calabi-Yau structures and pre-Calabi-Yau structures. We show that, from a smooth Calabi-Yau structure on an $A_\infty$-category $A$, one can produce a pre-Calabi-Yau structure on $A$; as defined in our previous work, this is a shifted noncommutative version of an integrable polyvector field. We explain how this relation is an analogue of the Legendre transform, and how it defines a one-to-one mapping, in a certain homological sense. For concreteness, we apply this formalism to chains on based loop spaces of (possibly non-simply connected) Poincar\'e duality spaces, and fully calculate the case of the circle.

Pre-Calabi-Yau algebras and topological quantum field theories

We introduce a notion generalizing Calabi-Yau structures on A-infinity algebras and categories, which we call pre-Calabi-Yau structures. This notion does not need either one of the finiteness conditions (smoothness or compactness) which are required for Calabi-Yau structures to exist. In terms of noncommutative geometry, a pre-CY structure is as a polyvector field satisfying an integrability condition with respect to a noncommutative analogue of the Schouten-Nijenhuis bracket. We show that a pre-CY structure defines an action of a certain PROP of chains on decorated Riemann surfaces. In the language of the cobordism perspective on TQFTs, this gives a partially defined extended 2-dimensional TQFT, whose 2-dimensional cobordisms are generated only by handles of index one. We present some examples of pre-CY structures appearing naturally in geometric and topological contexts.

Relative stability conditions on Fukaya categories of surfaces

It is shown that there is a useful notion of a relative Bridgeland stability condition on the partially wrapped Fukaya category of a marked surface, relative to some part of the surface's boundary. This construction has nice functorial properties, obeying cutting and gluing relations. This reduces the calculation of stability conditions on the Fukaya category of any fully stopped surface into three types of base cases. Calculations of these cases shows that every Bridgeland stability condition on such categories can be described by flat surfaces. In other words, the map constructed by Haiden-Katzarkov-Kontsevich from the moduli of flat surfaces to the stability space of the Fukaya category is a global homeomorphism when the surface is fully stopped.

Calabi-Yau structures on topological Fukaya categories

We develop a local-to-global formalism for constructing Calabi-Yau structures for global sections of constructible sheaves or cosheaves of categories. The required data - an isomorphism of the sheafified Hochschild homology with the topological dualizing sheaf - specializes to the classical notion of orientation when applied to the category of local systems on a manifold. We apply this construction to the cosheaves on arboreal skeleta arising in the microlocal approach to the A-model.
