The Pauli principle and magnetism

According to Heisenberg ferrmagnetism stems from the Pauli magic mediating between Coulomb interaction and electrons' spins. The primary aim of the paper is to turn the magic into an algebra by setting a precise bound to the degree a given electron density can affect spins. An application of the resulting spin-orbital Pauli constraints to Fe, Co, and Ni provides a new insight into the origin of magnetic moments in this archetypical ferromagnets.

The Pauli exclusion principle and beyond

The Pauli exclusion principle can be stated as inequality $<ψ|ρ|ψ>\le 1$ for the electron density matrix $ρ$. Nowadays it is replaced by skew symmetry of the multi-electron wave function. The replacement leads to numerous additional constraints on $ρ$, which are discussed in this letter together with their physical implications, in particular for spin magnetic moment of a multi-electron system.

A simple test for hidden variables in spin-1 system

We resolve an old problem about the existence of hidden parameters in a three-dimensional quantum system by constructing an appropriate Bell's type inequality. This reveals a nonclassical nature of most spin-$1$ states. We shortly discuss some physical implications and an underlying cause of this nonclassical behavior, as well as a perspective of its experimental verification.

Entanglement of a Single Spin-1 Object: An Example of Ubiquitous Entanglement

Using a single spin-1 object as an example, we discuss a recent approach to quantum entanglement. The key idea of the approach consists in presetting of basic observables in the very definition of quantum system. Specification of basic observables defines the dynamic symmetry of the system. Entangled states of the system are then interpreted as states with maximal amount of uncertainty of all basic observables. The approach gives purely physical picture of entanglement. In particular, it separates principle physical properties of entanglement from inessential. Within the model example under consideration, we show relativity of entanglement with respect to dynamic symmetry and argue existence of single-particle entanglement. A number of physical examples are considered.

Quantification of entanglement via uncertainties

We show that entanglement of pure multi-party states can be quantified by means of quantum uncertainties of certain basic observables through the use of measure that has been initially proposed in [10] for bipartite systems.

General entanglement

The paper contains a brief review of an approach to quantum entanglement based on analysis of dynamic symmetry of systems and quantum uncertainties, accompanying the measurement of mean value of certain basic observables. The latter are defined in terms of the orthogonal basis of Lie algebra, corresponding to the dynamic symmetry group. We discuss the relativity of entanglement with respect to the choice of basic observables and a way of stabilization of robust entanglement in physical systems.

Entanglement and quantum fluctuations

We discuss maximum entangled states of quantum systems in terms of quantum fluctuations of all essential measurements responsible for manifestation of entanglement. Namely, we consider maximum entanglement as a property of states, for which quantum fluctuations come to their extreme.

Entanglement and the SU(2) phase states in atomic systems

We show that a system of 2n identical two-level atoms interacting with n cavity photons manifests entanglement and that the set of entangled states coincides with the so-called SU(2) phase states. In particular, violation of classical realism in terms of the GHZ and GHSH conditions is proved. We discuss a new property of entanglement expressed in terms of local measurements. We also show that generation of entangled states in the atom-photon systems under consideration strongly depends on the choice of initial conditions and that the parasitic influence of cavity detuning can be compensated through the use of Kerr medium.

Radiation of a quantum localized source

New effective operators, describing the photons with given polarization at given position with respect to a source are proposed. These operators can be used to construct the near and intermediate zones quantum optics. It is shown that the use of the conventional plane photons can lead to a wrong results for quantum fluctuations of polarization even in the far zone.
