On the Photoproduction Reactions $γd\toπNN$

A review of our works providing a theoretical description of incoherent pion photoproduction on the deuteron is presented. The existing $γd\toπNN$ data are analysed, especially those obtained more recently by the CLAS Collaboration at JLab, the A2 Collaboration at MAMI at Mainz, and the PION@MAX-lab Collaboration at Lund. A procedure, which accounts for the final state interactions (FSI), is applied to extract $γn\toπN$ differential cross sections from the deuteron data. The role of FSI is discussed. We also comment on the results of other works in connection with some discrepancies seen in comparing the model with experiment. The electromagnetic properties of baryon $N^\ast$ resonances, improved using the extracted $γn\toπN$ differential cross sections, are presented. A model description of the cross section data from charged-pion photoproduction reactions $γd\toπ^{\pm}NN$ near threshold is also given. The $γd\toπ^-pp$ data are used to extract the $E_{0+}$ multipole and total crsoss sections of the reaction $γn\toπ^-p$ near threshold.

Collapse to the Center and Ambiguity in the Asymptotic Behavior of the Off-Shell Scattering Amplitude in Singular Three-Body Problems

We discuss some examples of equations of the three-body problem with the oscillating asymptotics at large momentum: (i) the fixed-center approximation, (ii) the unitarized equation in the fixed-center approximation, (iii) Skornyakov--Ter-Martirosyan equation, and (iv) equations with operators used in the effective field theory, i.e., which can be expanded in power-series with positive powers of momentum. We show that in the aforementioned three-body problems the situation analogous to the falling down to the center in the two-body problem takes place -- there appears an infinite number of bound states. The energy of these states is not bounded from below. In that sense the situation is close to the falling down to the center in the two-body problem.

Search for long-living topological solutions of nonlinear $φ^4$ field theory

We look for long-living topological solutions of classical nonlinear $(1+1)-$ dimensional $φ^4$ field theory. To that effect we use the well-known cut-and-match method. In this framework, new long-living states are obtained in both topological sectors. In particular, in one case a highly excited state of a kink is found. We discover several ways of energy reset. In addition to the expected emission wave packets (with small amplitude), for some selected initial conditions the production of kink-antikink pairs results in a large energy reset. Also, the topological number of a kink in the central region changes in the contrast of saving full topological number. At lower excitation energies there is a long-living excited vibrational state of the kink; this phenomenon is the final stage of all considered initial states. Over time this excited state of the kink changes to a well-known linearized solution - a discrete kink excitation mode. This method yields a qualitatively new way to describe the large-amplitude bion, which was detected earlier in the kink-scattering processes in the nontopological sector.

Three-body scattering problem in the fixed center approximation: the case of attraction

We study the scattering of a light particle on a bound pair of heavy particles (e.g., the deuteron) within the fixed center approximation in the case of light-heavy attraction, solving the integral equation for the three-body Green's function both in the coordinate and in the momentum space. The results for the three-body scattering amplitude appear to be ambiguous -- they depend on a single real parameter. This parameter may be fixed by a three-body input, e.g., the three-body scattering length. We also solve the integral equation for the three-body Green function in the momentum space, introducing a finite cut-off. We show that all three approaches are equivalent. We also discuss how our approach to the problem matches with the introduction of three-body contact interaction as done by other authors.

Radiative Decay Width of Neutral non-Strange Baryons from PWA

An overview of the GW SAID and ITEP groups effort to analyze pion photoproduction on the neutron-target will be given. The disentanglement the isoscalar and isovector EM couplings of N* and Delta* resonances does require compatible data on both proton and neutron targets. The final-state interaction plays a critical role in the state-of-the-art analysis in extraction of the gamma n --> pi N data from the deuteron target experiments. It is important component of the current JLab, MAMI-C, SPring-8, ELSA, and ELPH programs

Kink interactions in the (1+1)-dimensional $φ^6$ model

We study kink scattering processes in the (1+1)-dimensional $φ^6$ model in the framework of the collective coordinate approximation. We find critical values of the initial velocities of the colliding kinks. These critical velocities distinguish different regimes of collisions. The exact equation of motion for the $φ^6$ model is also solved numerically with the same initial conditions. We discuss advantages and disadvantages of the collective coordinate approximation, and also outline its applicability limits. Resonance phenomena and the so-called escape windows are also observed in the kink collisions.

Does the Multiple-scattering Series in the Pion-deuteron Scattering Actually Converge?

It is demonstrated that the well-known answer for the multiple-scattering series (MSS) for a light particle interacting to a pair of static nucleons, calculated in the Fixed Centers Approximation (FCA), works well for a wide region of the two-body complex scattering length $a$. However, this approach is not applicable in a narrow region surrounding the real positive $a$ half-axis, where the MSS does not converge. Simultaneously, for real positive $a$'s the 3-body system forms an infinite set of bound states.
