Cohomological Hall algebra of a symmetric quiver

In the paper \cite{KS}, Kontsevich and Soibelman in particular associate to each finite quiver $Q$ with a set of vertices $I$ the so-called Cohomological Hall algebra $\cH,$ which is $\Z_{\geq 0}^I$-graded. Its graded component $\cH_γ$ is defined as cohomology of Artin moduli stack of representations with dimension vector $γ.$ The product comes from natural correspondences which parameterize extensions of representations. In the case of symmetric quiver, one can refine the grading to $\Z_{\geq 0}^I\times\Z,$ and modify the product by a sign to get a super-commutative algebra $(\cH,\star)$ (with parity induced by $\Z$-grading). It is conjectured in \cite{KS} that in this case the algebra $(\cH\otimes\Q,\star)$ is free super-commutative generated by a $\Z_{\geq 0}^I\times\Z$-graded vector space of the form $V=V^{prim}\otimes\Q[x],$ where $x$ is a variable of bidegree $(0,2)\in\Z_{\geq 0}^I\times\Z,$ and all the spaces $\bigoplus\limits_{k\in\Z}V^{prim}_{γ,k},$ $γ\in\Z_{\geq 0}^I.$ are finite-dimensional. In this paper we prove this conjecture (Theorem 1.1). We also prove some explicit bounds on pairs $(γ,k)$ for which $V^{prim}_{γ,k}\ne 0$ (Theorem 1.2). Passing to generating functions, we obtain the positivity result for quantum Donaldson-Thomas invariants, which was used by S. Mozgovoy to prove Kac's conjecture for quivers with sufficiently many loops \cite{M}. Finally, we mention a connection with the paper of Reineke \cite{R}.

Homological mirror symmetry for curves of higher genus

Katzarkov has proposed a generalization of Kontsevich's mirror symmetry conjecture, covering some varieties of general type. Seidel \cite{Se} has proved a version of this conjecture in the simplest case of the genus two curve. Basing on the paper of Seidel, we prove the conjecture (in the same version) for curves of genus $g\geq 3,$ relating the Fukaya category of a genus $g$ curve to the category of Landau-Ginzburg branes on a certain singular surface. We also prove a kind of reconstruction theorem for hypersurface singularities. Namely, formal type of hypersurface singularity (i.e. a formal power series up to a formal change of variables) can be reconstructed, with some technical assumptions, from its D$(\Z/2)$-G category of Landau-Ginzburg branes. The precise statement is Theorem 1.2.

Maximal lengths of exceptional collections of line bundles

In this paper we construct infinitely many examples of toric Fano varieties with Picard number three, which do not admit full exceptional collections of line bundles. In particular, this disproves King's conjecture for toric Fano varieties. More generally, we prove that for any constant $c>\frac34$ there exist infinitely many toric Fano varieties $Y$ with Picard number three, such that the maximal length of exceptional collection of line bundles on $Y$ is strictly less than $c\rk K_0(Y).$ To obtain varieties without exceptional collections of line bundles, it suffices to put $c=1.$ On the other hand, we prove that for any toric nef-Fano DM stack $Y$ with Picard number three, there exists a strong exceptional collection of line bundles on $Y$ of length at least $\frac34 \rk K_0(Y).$ The constant $\frac34$ is thus maximal with this property.

Formal completion of a category along a subcategory

Following an idea of Kontsevich, we introduce and study the notion of formal completion of a compactly generated (by a set of objects) enhanced triangulated category along a full thick essentially small triangulated subcategory. In particular, we prove (answering a question of Kontsevich) that using categorical formal completion, one can obtain ordinary formal completions of Noetherian schemes along closed subschemes. Moreover, we show that Beilinson-Parshin adeles can be also obtained using categorical formal completion.

A proof of Kontsevich-Soibelman conjecture

It is well known that "Fukaya category" is in fact an $A_{\infty}$-pre-category in sense of Kontsevich and Soibelman \cite{KS}. The reason is that in general the morphism spaces are defined only for transversal pairs of Lagrangians, and higher products are defined only for transversal sequences of Lagrangians. In \cite{KS} it is conjectured that for any graded commutative ring $k,$ quasi-equivalence classes of $A_{\infty}$-pre-categories over $k$ are in bijection with quasi-equivalence classes of $A_{\infty}$-categories over $k$ with strict (or weak) identity morphisms. In this paper we prove this conjecture for essentially small $A_{\infty}$-(pre-)categories, in the case when $k$ is a field. In particular, it follows that we can replace Fukaya $A_{\infty}$-pre-category with a quasi-equivalent actual $A_{\infty}$-category. We also present natural construction of pre-triangulated envelope in the framework of $A_{\infty}$-pre-categories. We prove its invariance under quasi-equivalences.

Deformation theory of objects in homotopy and derived categories III: abelian categories

This is the third paper in a series. In part I we developed a deformation theory of objects in homotopy and derived categories of DG categories. Here we show how this theory can be used to study deformations of objects in homotopy and derived categories of abelian categories. Then we consider examples from (noncommutative) algebraic geometry. In particular, we study noncommutative Grassmanians that are true noncommutative moduli spaces of structure sheaves of projective subspaces in projective spaces.

Deformation theory of objects in homotopy and derived categories I: general theory

This is the first paper in a series. We develop a general deformation theory of objects in homotopy and derived categories of DG categories. Namely, for a DG module $E$ over a DG category we define four deformation functors $\Def ^{\h}(E)$, $\coDef ^{\h}(E)$, $\Def (E)$, $\coDef (E)$. The first two functors describe the deformations (and co-deformations) of $E$ in the homotopy category, and the last two - in the derived category. We study their properties and relations. These functors are defined on the category of artinian (not necessarily commutative) DG algebras.
