Weyl-Titchmarsh Theory for Schroedinger Operators with Strongly Singular Potentials

We develop Weyl-Titchmarsh theory for Schroedinger operators with strongly singular potentials such as perturbed spherical Schroedinger operators (also known as Bessel operators). It is known that in such situations one can still define a corresponding singular Weyl m-function and it was recently shown that there is also an associated spectral transformation. Here we will give a general criterion when the singular Weyl function can be analytically extended to the upper half plane. We will derive an integral representation for this singular Weyl function and give a criterion when it is a generalized Nevanlinna function. Moreover, we will show how essential supports for the Lebesgue decomposition of the spectral measure can be obtained from the boundary behavior of the singular Weyl function. Finally, we will prove a local Borg-Marchenko type uniqueness result. Our criteria will in particular cover the aforementioned case of perturbed spherical Schroedinger operators.

Commutation Methods for Schroedinger Operators with Strongly Singular Potentials

We explore the connections between singular Weyl-Titchmarsh theory and the single and double commutation methods. In particular, we compute the singular Weyl function of the commuted operators in terms of the original operator. We apply the results to spherical Schroedinger operators (also known as Bessel operators). We also investigate the connections with the generalized Baecklund-Darboux transformation.

Inverse Eigenvalue Problems for Perturbed Spherical Schroedinger Operators

We investigate the eigenvalues of perturbed spherical Schrödinger operators under the assumption that the perturbation $q(x)$ satisfies $x q(x) \in L^1(0,1)$. We show that the square roots of eigenvalues are given by the square roots of the unperturbed eigenvalues up to an decaying error depending on the behavior of $q(x)$ near $x=0$. Furthermore, we provide sets of spectral data which uniquely determine $q(x)$.

Sine-Gordon theory in a semi-strip

Initial-boundary value problems for complex sine-Gordon and sine-Gordon equations in a semi--strip are treated. The evolution of the Weyl function and a uniqueness result are obtained for complex sine-Gordon equation. The evolution of the Weyl function as well as an existence result and a procedure to recover solution are given for sine-Gordon equation. It is shown that for a wide class of examples the solutions of the sine-Gordon equation are unbounded in the quarter-plane.

On the GBDT version of the Bäcklund-Darboux transformation and its applications to the linear and nonlinear equations and Weyl theory

A general theorem on the GBDT version of the Bäcklund-Darboux transformation for systems rationally depending on the spectral parameter is treated and its applications to nonlinear equations are given. Explicit solutions of direct and inverse problems for Dirac-type systems, including systems with singularities, and for the system auxiliary to the $N$-wave equation are reviewed. New results on explicit construction of the wave functions for radial Dirac equation are obtained.

Weyl functions, inverse problem and special solutions for the system auxiliary to the nonlinear optics equation

A Borg-Marchenko type uniqueness theorem (in terms of the Weyl function) is obtained here for the system auxiliary to the N-wave equation. A procedure to solve inverse problem is used for this purpose. The asymptotic condition on the Weyl function, under which the inverse problem is uniquely solvable, is completed by the new and simple sufficient condition on the potential, granting the fulfillment of this asymptotic condition. The evolution of the Weyl function is discussed and the solution of an initial-boundary value problem for the N-wave equation follows. Explicit solutions of the system are obtained. System with a shifted argument is treated.

Harmonic maps, Backlund-Darboux transformations and "line soliton" analogs

Harmonic maps from $\BR^2$ or one-connected domain $Ø\subset \BR^2$ into $GL(m, \BC)$ and $U(m)$ are treated. The GBDT version of the Bäcklund-Darboux transformation is applied to the case of the harmonic maps. A new general formula on the GBDT transformations of the Sym-Tafel immersions is derived. A class of the harmonic maps similar in certain ways to line-solitons is obtained explicitly and studied.

Skew-self-adjoint discrete and continuous Dirac type systems: inverse problems and Borg-Marchenko theorems

New formulas on the inverse problem for the continuous skew-self-adjoint Dirac type system are obtained. For the discrete skew-self-adjoint Dirac type system the solution of a general type inverse spectral problem is also derived in terms of the Weyl functions. The description of the Weyl functions on the interval is given. Borg-Marchenko type uniqueness theorems are derived for both discrete and continuous non-self-adjoint systems too.

Discrete canonical system and non-Abelian Toda lattice: Backlund-Darboux transformation and Weyl functions

A version of the iterated Bäcklund-Darboux transformation, where Darboux matrix takes a form of the transfer matrix function from the system theory, is constructed for the discrete canonical system and Non-Abelian Toda lattice. Results on the transformations of the Weyl functions, insertion of the eigenvalues, and construction of the bound states are obtained. A wide class of the explicit solutions is given. An application to the semi-infinite block Jacobi matrices is treated.
