Algebraic Cobordism as a module over the Lazard ring

In this paper we study the structure of the Algebraic Cobordism ring of a variety as a module over the Lazard ring, and show that it has relations in positive codimensions. We actually prove the stronger graded version. This extends the result of M.Levine-F.Morel claiming that this module has generators in non-negative codimensions. As an application we compute the Algebraic Cobordism ring of a curve. The main tool is Symmetric Operations in Algebraic Cobordism.

An exact sequence for Milnor's K-theory with applications to quadratic forms

We construct a four-term exact sequence which provides information on the kernel and cokernel of the multiplication by a pure symbol in Milnor's K-theory mod 2 of fields of characteristic zero. As an application we establish, for fields of characteristics zero, the validity of three conjectures in the theory of quadratic forms - the Milnor conjecture on the structure of the Witt ring, the Khan-Rost-Sujatha conjecture and the J-filtration conjecture. The first version of this paper was written in the spring of 1996.

Koszul duality and Galois cohomology

It it shown that the Bloch-Kato conjecture on the norm residue homomorphism $K^M(F)/l \to H^*(G_F,Z/l)$ follows from its (partially known) low-degree part under the assumption that the Milnor K-theory algebra $K^M(F)/l$ modulo $l$ is Koszul. This conclusion is a case of a general result on the cohomology of nilpotent (co-)algebras and Koszulity.
