The Conjecture of Dixmier for the first Weyl algebra is true

Let $K$ be a field of characteristic zero, let $A_1=K[x][\partial ]$ be the first Weyl algebra. In this paper we prove that the Dixmier conjecture for the first Weyl algebra is true, i.e. each algebra endomorphism of the algebra $A_1$ is an automorphism.

On some questions around Berest's conjecture

Let $K$ be a field of characteristic zero, let $A_1=K[x][\partial ]$ be the first Weyl algebra. In this paper we prove the following two results. Assume there exists a non-zero polynomial $f(X,Y)\in K[X,Y]$, which has a non-trivial solution $(P,Q)\in A_{1}^{2}$ with $[P,Q]=0$, and the number of orbits under the group action of $Aut(A_1)$ on solutions of $f$ in $A_{1}^{2}$ is finite. Then the Dixmier conjecture holds, i.e $\forall φ\in End(A_{1})-\{0\}$, $φ$ is an automorphism. Assume $φ$ is an endomorphism of monomial type (in particular, it is not an automorphism, see theorem 4.1). Then it has no non-trivial fixed point, i.e. there are no $P\in A_1$, $P\notin K$, s.t. $φ(P)=P$.

Schur-Sato theory for quasi-elliptic rings

The notion of quasi-elliptic rings appeared as a result of an attempt to classify a wide class of commutative rings of operators found in the theory of integrable systems, such as rings of commuting differential, difference, differential-difference, etc. operators. They are contained in a certain non-commutative "universal" ring - a purely algebraic analogue of the ring of pseudodifferential operators on a manifold, and admit (under certain mild restrictions) a convenient algebraic-geometric description. An important algebraic part of this description is the Schur-Sato theory - a generalisation of the well known theory for ordinary differential operators. Some parts of this theory were developed earlier in a series of papers, mostly for dimension two. In this paper we present this theory in arbitrary dimension. We apply this theory to prove two classification theorems of quasi-elliptic rings in terms of certain pairs of subspaces (Schur pairs). They are necessary for the algebraic-geometric description of quasi-elliptic rings mentioned above. The theory is effective and has several other applications, among them is a new proof of the Abhyankar inversion formula.

Cohen-Macaulay modules over the algebra of planar quasi-invariants and Calogero-Moser systems

In this paper, we study properties of the algebras of planar quasi-invariants. These algebras are Cohen-Macaulay and Gorenstein in codimension one. Using the technique of matrix problems, we classify all Cohen-Macaulay modules of rank one over them and determine their Picard groups. In terms of this classification, we describe the spectral modules of the planar rational Calogero-Moser systems. Finally, we elaborate the theory of the algebraic inverse scattering method, computing a new unexpected explicit example of a deformed Calogero-Moser system.

Fourier-Mukai transform on Weierstrass cubics and commuting differential operators

In this article, we describe the spectral sheaves of algebras of commuting differential operators of genus one and rank two with singular spectral curve, solving a problem posed by Previato and Wilson. We also classify all indecomposable semi-stable sheaves of slope one and ranks two or three on a cuspidal Weierstrass cubic.

Amazing examples of nonrational smooth spectral surfaces

In this paper we construct first examples of smooth projective surfaces of general type satisfying the following conditions: there are 1) an ample integral curve $C$ with $C^2=1$ and $h^0(X,O_X(C))=1$; \quad 2) a divisor $D$ with $(D, C)_X=g(C)-1$, $h^i(X,O_X(D))=0$, $i=0,1,2$, and $h^0(X, O_X(D+C))=1$. Such conditions arise from necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of non-trivial commutative subalgebras of rank one in $\hat{D}$, a completion of the algebra of partial differential operators in two variables, which can be thought of as a simple algebraic analogue of the algebra of analytic pseudodifferential operators on a manifold. We extract these conditions by elaborating the classification theorem of commutative subalgebras in $\hat{D}$ due to the second author for the case of rank one subalgebras. Amazingly, the commutative subalgebras with such spectral surfaces do not admit isospectral deformations.

Commuting differential operators and higher-dimensional algebraic varieties

Several algebro-geometric properties of commutative rings of partial differential operators as well as several geometric constructions are investigated. In particular, we show how to associate a geometric data by a commutative ring of partial differential operators, and we investigate the properties of these geometric data. This construction is similar to the construction of a formal module of Baker-Akhieser functions. On the other hand, there is a recent generalization of Sato's theory which belongs to the third author of this paper. We compare both approaches to the commutative rings of partial differential operators in two variables.

Geometric properties of commutative subalgebras of partial differential operators

We investigate further alebro-geometric properties of commutative rings of partial differential operators continuing our research started in previous articles. In particular, we start to explore the most evident examples and also certain known examples of algebraically integrable quantum completely integrable systems from the point of view of a recent generalization of Sato's theory which belongs to the second author. We give a complete characterisation of the spectral data for a class of "trivial" rings and strengthen geometric properties known earlier for a class of known examples. We also define a kind of a restriction map from the moduli space of coherent sheaves with fixed Hilbert polynomial on a surface to analogous moduli space on a divisor (both the surface and divisor are part of the spectral data). We give several explicit examples of spectral data and corresponding rings of commuting (completed) operators, producing as a by-product interesting examples of surfaces that are not isomorphic to spectral surfaces of any commutative ring of PDOs of rank one. At last, we prove that any commutative ring of PDOs, whose normalisation is isomorphic to the ring of polynomials $k[u,t]$, is a Darboux transformation of a ring of operators with constant coefficients.

Formal groups arising from formal punctured ribbons

We investigate Picard functor of a formal punctured ribbon. We prove that under some conditions this functor is representable by a formal group scheme. Formal punctured ribbons were introduced in arXiv:0708.0985.

Formal punctured ribbons and two-dimensional local fields

We investigate formal ribbons on curves. Roughly speaking, formal ribbon is a family of locally linearly compact vector spaces on a curve. We establish a one-to-one correspondence between formal ribbons on curves plus some geometric data and some subspaces of two-dimensional local field.

Two dimensional KP systems and their solvability

In this paper we introduce new various generalizations of the classical Kadomtsev-Petviashvili hierarchy in the case of operators in several variables. These generalizations are the candidates for systems that should play the role, analogous to the role of the KP hierarchy in the classical KP theory, in a generalized KP theory. In particular, they should describe flows of some generalized geometric datas, including those described by A.N.Parshin, for certain initial conditions. The unique solvability of the initial value problem for the generalized KP hierarchies is established. The connection of these systems with universal families of isospectral deformations of certain pairs of commuting differential operators is opened. To prove the solvability of the systems we generalize several results from the works of M.Mulase and A.N.Parshin.

Wild division algebras over Laurent series fields

In this paper we study some special classes of division algebras over a Laurent series field with arbitrary residue field. We call the algebras from these classes as splittable and good splittable division algebras. It is shown that these classes contain the group of tame division algebras. For the class of good division algebras a decomposition theorem is given. This theorem is a generalization of the decomposition theorems for tame division algebras given by Jacob and Wadsworth. For both clases we introduce a notion of a $δ$-map and develop a technique of $δ$-maps for division algebras from these classes. Using this technique we reprove several old well known results of Saltman and get the positive answer on the period-index conjecture of M.Artin: the exponent of $A$ is equal to its index for any division algebra $A$ over a $C_2$-field $F$, when $F\eq F_1((t_2))$, where $F_1$ is a $C_1$-field. The paper includes also some other results about splittable division algebras, which, we hope, will be useful for the further investigation of wild division algebras.
