On the structure of the Witt group of braided fusion categories

We analyze the structure of the Witt group W of braided fusion categories introduced in the previous paper arXiv:1009.2117v2. We define a "super" version of the categorical Witt group, namely, the group sW of slightly degenerate braided fusion categories. We prove that sW is a direct sum of the classical part, an elementary Abelian 2-group, and a free Abelian group. Furthermore, we show that the kernel of the canonical homomorphism S: W --> sW is generated by Ising categories and is isomorphic to Z/16Z. Finally, we give a complete description of etale algebras in tensor products of braided fusion categories.

The Witt group of non-degenerate braided fusion categories

We give a characterization of Drinfeld centers of fusion categories as non-degenerate braided fusion categories containing a Lagrangian algebra. Further we study the quotient of the monoid of non-degenerate braided fusion categories modulo the submonoid of the Drinfeld centers and show that its formal properties are similar to those of the classical Witt group.

Field theories with defects and the centre functor

This note is intended as an introduction to the functorial formulation of quantum field theories with defects. After some remarks about models in general dimension, we restrict ourselves to two dimensions - the lowest dimension in which interesting field theories with defects exist. We study in some detail the simplest example of such a model, namely a topological field theory with defects which we describe via lattice TFT. Finally, we give an application in algebra, where the defect TFT provides us with a functorial definition of the centre of an algebra. This involves changing the target category of commutative algebras into a bicategory. Throughout this paper, we emphasise the role of higher categories - in our case bicategories - in the description of field theories with defects.

Commutative Algebras in Fibonacci Categories

By studying NIM-representations we show that the Fibonacci category and its tensor powers are completely anisotropic; that is, they do not have any non-trivial separable commutative ribbon algebras. As an application we deduce that a chiral algebra with the representation category equivalent to a product of Fibonacci categories is maximal; that is, it is not a proper subalgebra of another chiral algebra. In particular the chiral algebras of the Yang-Lee model, the WZW models of G2 and F4 at level 1, as well as their tensor powers, are maximal.

A categorical approach to classical and quantum Schur-Weyl duality

We use category theory to propose a unified approach to the Schur-Weyl dualities involving the general linear Lie algebras, their polynomial extensions and associated quantum deformations. We define multiplicative sequences of algebras exemplified by the sequence of group algebras of the symmetric groups and use them to introduce associated monoidal categories. Universal properties of these categories lead to uniform constructions of the Drinfeld functor connecting representation theories of the degenerate affine Hecke algebras and the Yangians and of its q-analogue. Moreover, we construct actions of these categories on certain (infinitesimal) braided categories containing a Hecke object.

Commutative algebras in Drinfeld categories of abelian Lie algebras

We describe (braided-)commutative algebras with non-degenerate multiplicative form in certain braided monoidal categories, corresponding to abelian metric Lie algebras (so-called Drinfeld categories). We also describe local modules over these algebras and classify commutative algebras with finite number of simple local modules.

Invertible defects and isomorphisms of rational CFTs

Given two two-dimensional conformal field theories, a domain wall -- or defect line -- between them is called invertible if there is another defect with which it fuses to the identity defect. A defect is called topological if it is transparent to the stress tensor. A conformal isomorphism between the two CFTs is a linear isomorphism between their state spaces which preserves the stress tensor and is compatible with the operator product expansion. We show that for rational CFTs there is a one-to-one correspondence between invertible topological defects and conformal isomorphisms if both preserve the rational symmetry. This correspondence is compatible with composition.

Full centre of an H -module algebra

We apply the full centre construction, defined in arXiv:0908.1250, to algebras in and module categories over categories of representations of Hopf algebras. We obtain a compact formula for the full centre of a module algebra over a Hopf algebra.

Centre of an algebra

Motivated by algebraic structures appearing in Rational Conformal Field Theory we study a construction associating to an algebra in a monoidal category a commutative algebra ({\em full centre}) in the monoidal centre of the monoidal category. We establish Morita invariance of this construction by extending it to module categories. As an example we treat the case of group-theoretical categories.

Modular invariants for group-theoretical modular data. I

We classify indecomposable commutative separable (special Frobenius) algebras and their local modules in (untwisted) group-theoretical modular categories. This gives a description of modular invariants for group-theoretical modular data. As a bi-product we provide an answer to the question when (and in how many ways) two group-theoretical modular categories are equivalent as ribbon categories.

Quasi-commutative algebras

We characterise algebras commutative with respect to a Yang-Baxter operator (quasi-commutative algebras) in terms of certain cosimplicial complexes. In some cases this characterisation allows the classification of all possible quasi-commutative structures.

Twisted automorphisms of Hopf algebras

Twisted homomorphisms of bialgebras are bialgebra homomorphisms from the first into Drinfeld twistings of the second. They possess a composition operation extending composition of bialgebra homomorphisms. Gauge transformations of twists, compatible with adjacent homomorphisms, give rise to gauge transformation of twisted homomorphisms, which behave nicely with respect to compositions. Here we study (gauge classes of) twisted automorphisms of cocommutative Hopf algebras. After revising well-known relations between twists, twisted forms of bialgebras and $R$-matrices (for commutative bialgebras) we describe twisted automorphisms of universal enveloping algebras.

Twisted automorphisms of group algebras

We continue the study of twisted automorphisms of Hopf algebras started in "Twisted automorphisms of Hopf algebras". In this paper we concentrate on the group algebra case. We describe the group of twisted automorphisms of the group algebra of a group of order coprime to 6. The description turns out to be very similar to the one for the universal enveloping algebra given in "Twisted automorphisms of Hopf algebras".

Nuclei of categories with tensor products

Following the analogy between algebras (monoids) and monoidal categories the construction of nucleus for non-associative algebras is simulated on the categorical level. Nuclei of categories of modules are considered as an example.
