Nonformal deformations of the algebras of holomorphic functions on the polydisk and on the ball in $\mathbb C^n$

We construct Fr\'echet $\mathcal O(\mathbb C^\times)$-algebras $\mathcal O_{\mathrm{def}}(\mathbb D^n)$ and $\mathcal O_{\mathrm{def}}(\mathbb B^n)$ which may be interpreted as nonformal (or, more exactly, holomorphic) deformations of the algebras $\mathcal O(\mathbb D^n)$ and $\mathcal O(\mathbb B^n)$ of holomorphic functions on the polydisk $\mathbb D^n\subset\mathbb C^n$ and on the ball $\mathbb B^n\subset\mathbb C^n$, respectively. The fibers of our algebras over $q\in\mathbb C^\times$ are isomorphic to the previously introduced ``quantum polydisk'' and ``quantum ball'' algebras, $\mathcal O_q(\mathbb D^n)$ and $\mathcal O_q(\mathbb B^n)$. We show that the algebras $\mathcal O_{\mathrm{def}}(\mathbb D^n)$ and $\mathcal O_{\mathrm{def}}(\mathbb B^n)$ yield continuous Fr\'echet algebra bundles over $\mathbb C^\times$ which are strict deformation quantizations (in Rieffel's sense) of $\mathbb D^n$ and $\mathbb B^n$. We also give a noncommutative power series interpretation of $\mathcal O_{\mathrm{def}}(\mathbb D^n)$ and apply it to showing that $\mathcal O_{\mathrm{def}}(\mathbb D^n)$ is not topologically projective (and a fortiori is not topologically free) over $\mathcal O(\mathbb C^\times)$. Finally, we consider respective formal deformations of $\mathcal O(\mathbb D^n)$ and $\mathcal O(\mathbb B^n)$, and we show that they can be obtained from the holomorphic deformations by extension of scalars.

Topological amenability and Köthe co-echelon algebras

We introduce a notion of a topologically flat locally convex module, which extends the notion of a flat Banach module and which is well adapted to the nonmetrizable setting (and especially to the setting of DF-modules). By using this notion, we introduce topologically amenable locally convex algebras and we show that a complete barrelled DF-algebra is topologically amenable if and only if it is Johnson amenable, extending thereby Helemskii-Sheinberg's criterion for Banach algebras. As an application, we completely characterize topologically amenable Köthe co-echelon algebras.

Structure theory of homologically trivial and annihilator locally C*-algebras

We study the structure of certain classes of homologically trivial locally C*-algebras. These include algebras with projective irreducible Hermitian A-modules, biprojective algebras, and superbiprojective algebras. We prove that, if A is a locally C*-algebra, then all irreducible Hermitian A-modules are projective if and only if A is a direct topological sum of elementary C*-algebras. This is also equivalent to A being an annihilator (dual, complemented, left quasi-complemented, or topologically modular annihilator) topological algebra. We characterize all annihilator $σ$-C*-algebras and describe the structure of biprojective locally C*-algebras. Also, we present an example of a biprojective locally C*-algebra that is not topologically isomorphic to a Cartesian product of biprojective C*-algebras. Finally, we show that every superbiprojective locally C*-algebra is topologically *-isomorphic to a Cartesian product of full matrix algebras.
