A Weighted-Graph Curvature Calculator and Whether the Discrete Curvature Senses the Smooth One

We investigate whether there is a relationship between the discrete Bakry-Émery curvature of a graph and the smooth curvature of an ambient surface into which the graph is embedded geodesically. As we used weighted graphs as test objects, we developed a program for the calculation of the discrete curvature and with the help of this calculator, we observed some indications of such a relationship.

Trimming of Finite Subsets of the Manhattan Plane

V. Turaev defined recently an operation of "Trimming" for pseudo-metric spaces and analysed the tight span of (pseudo-)metric spaces via this process. In this work we investigate the trimming of finite subspaces of the Manhattan plane. We show that this operation amounts for them to taking the metric center set and we give an algorithm to construct the tight spans via trimming.

Graph-Directed Fractal Interpolation Functions

It is known that there exists a function interpolating a given data set such that the graph of the function is the attractor of an iterated function system which is called fractal interpolation function. We generalize the notion of fractal interpolation function to the graph-directed case and prove that for a finite number of data sets there exist interpolation functions each of which interpolates corresponding data set in $\mathbb{R}^2$ such that the graphs of the interpolation functions are attractors of a graph-directed iterated function system.

On the Minkowski Measurability of Self-Similar Fractals in R^d

M. Lapidus and C. Pomerance (1990-1993) and K.J. Falconer (1995) proved that a self-similar fractal in $\mathbb{R}$ is Minkowski-measurable iff it is of non-lattice type. D. Gatzouras (1999) proved that a self-similar fractal in $\mathbb{R}^d$ is Minkowski measurable if it is of non-lattice type (though the actual computation of the content is intractable with his approach) and conjectured that it is not Minkowski measurable if it is of lattice type. Under mild conditions we prove this conjecture and in the non-lattice case we improve his result in the sense that we express the content of the fractal in terms of the residue of the associated $ζ$-function at the Minkowski-dimension.
