Manarat: A Scalable QICK-Based Control System for Superconducting Quantum Processors Supporting Synchronized Control of 10 Flux-Tunable Qubits

A scalable control architecture for superconducting quantum processors is essential as the number of qubits increases and coherent multi-qubit operations span beyond the capacity of a single control module. The Quantum Instrumentation Control Kit (QICK), built on AMD RFSoC platforms, offers a flexible open-source framework for pulse-level qubit control but lacks native support for multi-board synchronization, limiting its applicability to mid- and large-scale quantum devices. To overcome this limitation, we introduce Manarat, a scalable multi-board control platform based on QICK that incorporates hardware, firmware, and software enhancements to enable sub-100 ps timing alignment across multiple AMD ZCU216 RFSoC boards. Our system integrates a low-jitter clock distribution network, modifications to the tProcessor, and a synchronization scheme to ensure deterministic alignment of program execution across boards. It also includes a custom analog front-end for flux control that combines high-speed RF signals with software-programmable DC biasing voltages generated by a low-noise, high-precision DAC. These capabilities are complemented by a software stack capable of orchestrating synchronized multi-board experiments and fully integrated with the open-source Qibo framework for quantum device calibration and algorithm execution. We validate Manarat on a 10-qubit superconducting processor controlled by two RFSoC boards, demonstrating reliable execution of synchronized control sequences for cross-board CZ gate calibration. These results confirm that sub-nanosecond synchronization and coherent control is achievable across multiple RFSoC boards, enabling scalable operation of superconducting quantum computers.

Qibocal: an open-source framework for calibration of self-hosted quantum devices

Calibration of quantum devices is fundamental to successfully deploy quantum algorithms on current available quantum hardware. We present Qibocal, an open-source software library to perform calibration and characterization of superconducting quantum devices within the Qibo framework. Qibocal completes the Qibo middleware framework by providing all necessary tools to easily (re)calibrate self-hosted quantum platforms. After presenting the layout and the features of the library, we give an overview on some of the protocols implemented to perform single and two-qubit gates calibration. Finally, we present applications involving recalibration and monitoring of superconducting platforms.

Qibosoq: an open-source framework for quantum circuit RFSoC programming

We present Qibosoq, an open-source server-side software package designed for radio frequency system on chip (RFSoC) for executing arbitrary pulse sequences and algorithms on self-hosted quantum processing units using only open-source software. Qibosoq connects the RFSoC firmware provided by Qick, a Quantum Instrumentation Control Kit, with Qibo, a quantum computing middleware framework that enables both experimental and gate-based applications. It simplifies the work of experimentalists and developers by managing client-server communication protocols, implementing tests, and validation procedures, thereby reducing the complexity of experimental setups. The client-side integration is achieved with dedicated drivers implemented in Qibolab, the specialized software module of Qibo for quantum hardware control. Therefore, this setup provides a seamless mechanism to deploy circuit-based algorithms on custom self-hosted quantum hardware platforms controlled by RFSoC electronics.

Qibolab: an open-source hybrid quantum operating system

We present Qibolab, an open-source software library for quantum hardware control integrated with the Qibo quantum computing middleware framework. Qibolab provides the software layer required to automatically execute circuit-based algorithms on custom self-hosted quantum hardware platforms. We introduce a set of objects designed to provide programmatic access to quantum control through pulses-oriented drivers for instruments, transpilers and optimization algorithms. Qibolab enables experimentalists and developers to delegate all complex aspects of hardware implementation to the library so they can standardize the deployment of quantum computing algorithms in a extensible hardware-agnostic way, using superconducting qubits as the first officially supported quantum technology. We first describe the status of all components of the library, then we show examples of control setup for superconducting qubits platforms. Finally, we present successful application results related to circuit-based algorithms.
