Vanishing uniqueness thresholds in Voronoi percolation on products

We study Poisson--Voronoi percolation and its discrete analogue Bernoulli--Voronoi percolation in spaces with a non-amenable product structure. We develop a new method of proving smallness of the uniqueness threshold $p_u(\lambda)$ at small intensities $\lambda>0$ based on the unbounded borders phenomenon of their underlining ideal Poisson--Voronoi tessellation. We apply our method to several concrete examples in both the discrete and the continuum setting, including $k$-fold graph products of $d$-regular trees for $k\ge2,d\ge3$ and products of hyperbolic spaces $\mathbb H_{d_1}\times \ldots \times \mathbb H_{d_k}$ for $k\ge2, d_i\ge2$, complementing a recent result of the second and fourth author for symmetric spaces of connected higher rank semisimple real Lie groups with property (T). We also provide new examples of non-amenable Cayley graphs with the FIID sparse unique infinite cluster property, answering positively a recent question of Pete and Rokob.

Isomorphisms of Poisson systems over locally compact groups

A Poisson system is a Poisson point process and a group action, together forming a measure-preserving dynamical system. Ornstein and Weiss proved Poisson systems over many amenable groups were isomorphic in their 1987 paper. We consider Poisson systems over non-discrete, non-compact, locally compact Polish groups, and we prove by construction all Poisson systems over such a group are finitarily isomorphic, producing examples of isomorphisms for non-amenable group actions. As a corollary, we prove Poisson systems and products of Poisson systems are finitarily isomorphic. For a Poisson system over a group belonging to a slightly more restrictive class than above, we further prove it splits into two Poisson systems whose intensities sum to the intensity of the original, generalizing the same result for Poisson systems over Euclidean space proved by Holroyd, Lyons, and Soo.

Poisson-Voronoi tessellations and fixed price in higher rank

Let $G$ be a higher rank semisimple real Lie group or the product of at least two automorphism groups of regular trees. We prove all probability measure preserving actions of lattices in such groups have cost one, answering Gaboriau's fixed price question for this class of groups. We prove the minimal number generators of a torsion-free lattice in $G$ is sublinear in the co-volume of $Γ$, settling a conjecture of Abért-Gelander-Nikolov. As a consequence, we derive new estimates on the growth of first mod-$p$ homology groups of higher rank locally symmetric spaces. Our method of proof is novel, using low intensity Poisson point processes on higher rank symmetric spaces and the geometry of their associated Voronoi tessellations. We prove as the intensities limit to zero, these tessellations partition the space into ``horoball-like'' cells so that any two share an unbounded border. We use this new phenomenon to construct low cost graphings for orbit equivalence relations of higher rank lattices.

Finitary isomorphisms of Poisson point processes

As part of a general theory for the isomorphism problem for actions of amenable groups, Ornstein and Weiss (J. Anal. Math. 48:1-141,1987) proved that any two Poisson point processes are isomorphic as measure-preserving actions. We give an elementary construction of an isomorphism between Poisson point processes that is finitary.
