Region of existence of multiple solutions for a class of 4-point BVPs

The aim of this article is to prove the existence of solution and compute the region of existence for a class of 4-point BVPs defined as, \begin{eqnarray*} &&-u''(x)=ψ(x,u,u'), \quad 0 0$. The non linear source term $ψ\in C(I\times\mathbb{R}\times\mathbb{R},\mathbb{R})$ is one sided Lipschitz in $u$ with Lipschitz constant $L_1$ and Lipschitz in $u'$ with Lipschitz function $L_2(x)$, where $L_2(x):I\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^+ $ such that $ L_2(0)=0$ and $L_2'(x)\geq 0$. The novelty in this paper allows us to use simplest form of computational iteration and existence is achieved with a restriction that $L_2$ depends on $x$. We develop monotone iterative technique in well ordered and reverse ordered cases. We prove maximum anti-maximum principle under certain assumptions and use it to show the monotonic behavior of sequences of upper and lower solutions. The conditions derived in this paper are sufficient and have been verified for two examples. The method involves Newton's quasilinearization which involves a parameter $k$ which is equivalent to $\dfrac{\partial ψ}{\partial u}$. Our aim is to find a range of $k$ so that the iterative technique is convergent.

Regions of existence for a class of nonlinear diffusion type problems

The regions of existence are established for a class of two point nonlinear diffusion type boundary value problems (NDBVP) \begin{eqnarray*} &&\label{abst-intr-1} -s''(x)-ns'(x)-\frac{m}{x}s'(x)=f(x,s), \qquad m>0,~n\in \mathbb{R},\qquad x\in(0,1),\\ &&\label{abst-intr-2} s'(0)=0, \qquad a_{1}s(1)+a_{2}s'(1)=C, \end{eqnarray*} where $a_{1}>0,$ $a_{2}\geq0,~ C\in\mathbb{R}$. These problems arise very frequently in many branches of engineering, applied mathematics, astronomy, biological system and modern science (see \cite{Gatica1989, GRAY1980, Baxley1991, Chandershekhar1939, Duggan1986, Chambre1952}). By using the concept of upper and lower solutions with monotone constructive technique, we derive some sufficient conditions for existence in the regions where $\frac{\partial f}{\partial s}\geq0$ and $\frac{\partial f}{\partial s}\leq0$. Theoretical methods are applied for a set of problems which arise in real life.

On some computational aspects of Hermite wavelets on a class of SBVPs arising in exothermic reactions

We propose a new class of SBVPs which deals with exothermic reactions. We also propose four computationally stable methods to solve singular nonlinear BVPs by using Hermite wavelet collocation which are coupled with Newton's quasilinearization and Newton-Raphson method. We compare the results obtained with Hermite Wavelets with Haar wavelet collocation. The efficiency of these methods are verified by applying these four methods on Lane-Emden equations. Convergence analysis is also presented.

Nonlinear three point Singular BVPs : A Classification

We analyze the existence of unique solutions of the following class of nonlinear three point singular boundary value problems (SBVPs), \begin{eqnarray*}\label{NL-Singular-P} &&-(x^α y'(x))'= x^αf(x,y),\quad 0 0$, $0<η<1$ and $α\geq 1$. This study shows some novel observations regarding the nature of the solution of the nonlinear three point SBVPs. We observe that when $sup\left(\partial f/\partial y\right)>0$ for $α\in \cup_{n\in \mathbb{N}}\left(4n-1,4n+1\right)$ or $α\in\{1,5,9,\cdots\}$ reverse ordered case occur. When $sup\left(\partial f/\partial y\right)>0$ for $α\in \cup_{n\in \mathbb{N}}\left(4n-3,4n-1\right)$ or $α\in\{3,7,11,\cdots\}$ and when $sup\left(\partial f/\partial y\right)<0$ for all $α\geq 1$ well order case occur.

Existence uniqueness for a class of Nonlinear Discrete Boundary Value Problems

A monotone iterative method is proposed to solve nonlinear discrete boundary value problems with the support of upper and lower solutions. We establish some new existence results. Under some sufficient conditions, we establish maximum principle for linear discrete boundary value problem, which relies on Green's function and its constant sign. We then use it to establish existence of unique solution for the nonlinear discrete boundary value problem $Δ^2 y(t-1)= f(t, y(t)),~t\in[1, T]$, $y(0)=0,~y(T+1)=0$.
