Fusion rules and rigidity for weight modules over the simple admissible affine $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$ and $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal vertex operator superalgebras

We prove that the categories of weight modules over the simple $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$ and $\mathcal{N}=2$ superconformal vertex operator algebras at fractional admissible levels and central charges are rigid (and hence the categories of weight modules are braided ribbon categories) and that the decomposition formulae of fusion products of simple projective modules conjectured by Thomas Creutzig, David Ridout and collaborators hold (including when the decomposition involves summands that are indecomposable yet not simple). In addition to solving this old open problem, we develop new techniques for the construction of intertwining operators by means of integrating screening currents over certain cycles, which are expected to be of independent interest, due to their applicability to many other algebras. In the example of $\mathfrak{sl}(2)$ these new techniques allow us to give explicit formulae for a logarithmic intertwining operator from a pair of simple projective modules to the projective cover of the tensor unit, namely, the vertex operator algebra as a module over itself.

NIM-representations of Tambara-Yamagami generalizations

We compute and classify the irreducible non-negative integer matrix (NIM-)representations of two proposed generalizations of the Tambara-Yamagami fusion ring, as studied by Jordan-Larson and Galindo-Lentner-Möller, respectively. We also detect the algebra objects associated to these NIM-representations.

Exceptional embeddings of $N=2$ minimal models

Vafa and Warner observed that the Landau-Ginzburg model associated to the potential $E_6$ (resp. $E_8$) is a product of two other models, associated to the potentials $A_2$ and $ A_3$ (resp. $A_2 $ and $ A_4$). We translate this along the Landau-Ginzburg / Conformal Field Theory correspondence to a conjecture about the unitary minimal quotients $M_d$ of the $N=2$ superconformal algebra of central charge $c_d=3-\frac{6}{d}$: there should be a conformal embedding $M_{12}\hookrightarrow M_{3} \otimes M_4$ (resp. $M_{30}\hookrightarrow M_{3} \otimes M_5$) that exhibits the product as Ostrik's $E_6$ (resp. $E_8$) algebra in the $\mathrm{Rep}(su(2)_{10})$ (resp. $\mathrm{Rep}(su(2)_{28})$) factor of the NS-sector of $\mathrm{Rep}(M_{12})$ (resp. $\mathrm{Rep}(M_{30})$). We motivate, formulate, and prove this conjecture.

Reconstructing algebra objects from NIM-reps in pointed, near-group and quantum group-like fusion categories

In this article we study the possible Morita equivalence classes of algebras in three families of fusion categories (pointed, near-group and $A \left( 1,l \right)_{\frac{1}{2}}$) by studying the Non-negative Integer Matrix representations (NIM-reps) of their underlying fusion ring, and compare these results with existing classification results of algebra objects. Also, in an appendix we include a test of the exponents conjecture for modular tensor categories of rank up to 4.

Frobenius Monoidal Functors of Dijkgraaf-Witten Categories and Rigid Frobenius Algebras

We construct a separable Frobenius monoidal functor from $\mathcal{Z}\big(\mathsf{Vect}_H^{ω|_H}\big)$ to $\mathcal{Z}\big(\mathsf{Vect}_G^ω\big)$ for any subgroup $H$ of $G$ which preserves braiding and ribbon structure. As an application, we classify rigid Frobenius algebras in $\mathcal{Z}\big(\mathsf{Vect}_G^ω\big)$, recovering the classification of étale algebras in these categories by Davydov-Simmons [J. Algebra 471 (2017), 149-175, arXiv:1603.04650] and generalizing their classification to algebraically closed fields of arbitrary characteristic. Categories of local modules over such algebras are modular tensor categories by results of Kirillov-Ostrik [Adv. Math. 171 (2002), 183-227, arXiv:math.QA/0101219] in the semisimple case and Laugwitz-Walton [Comm. Math. Phys., to appear, arXiv:2202.08644] in the general case.

Computational aspects of orbifold equivalence

In this paper we study the computational feasibility of an algorithm to prove orbifold equivalence between potentials describing Landau-Ginzburg models. Through a comparison with leading results of Groebner basis computations in cryptology, we infer that the algorithm produces systems of equations that are beyond the limits of current technical capabilities. As such the algorithm needs to be augmented by `inspired guesswork', and we provide two new examples of applying this approach.

Algebraic structures in group-theoretical fusion categories

It was shown by Ostrik (2003) and Natale (2017) that a collection of twisted group algebras in a pointed fusion category serve as explicit Morita equivalence class representatives of indecomposable, separable algebras in such categories. We generalize this result by constructing explicit Morita equivalence class representatives of indecomposable, separable algebras in group-theoretical fusion categories. This is achieved by providing the free functor $Φ$ from fusion category to a category of bimodules in the original category with a (Frobenius) monoidal structure. Our algebras of interest are then constructed as the image of twisted group algebras under $Φ$. We also show that twisted group algebras admit the structure of Frobenius algebras in a pointed fusion category, and as a consequence, our algebras are Frobenius algebras in a group-theoretical fusion category. They also enjoy several good algebraic properties.

Landau-Ginzburg/Conformal Field Theory Correspondence for $x^d$ and Module Tensor Categories

The Landau-Ginzburg/Conformal Field Theory correspondence predicts tensor equivalences between categories of matrix factorisations of certain polynomials and categories associated to the $N=2$ supersymmetric conformal field theories. We realise this correspondence for $x^d$ for any $d$, where previous results were limited to odd $d$. Our proof uses the fact that both sides of the correspondence carry the structure of module tensor categories over the category of $\mathbb{Z}_d$-graded vector spaces equipped with a non-degenerate braiding. This allows us to describe the CFT side as generated by a single object, and use this to efficiently provide a functor realising the tensor equivalence.

On the Landau-Ginzburg/conformal field theory correspondence

In this brief review we introduce the Landau-Ginzburg/conformal field theory correspondence, a result from the physics literature of the late 80s and early 90s which predicts a relation between categories of matrix factorizations and categories of representations of vertex operator algebras. To date there is no precise mathematical statement for it. Here, we explain some recent examples of this correspondence, some standing conjectures and future directions of research.

Orbifold autoequivalent exceptional unimodal singularities

We prove that different expressions of the same exceptional unimodal singularity are orbifold equivalent. As in our previous paper, the matrix factorizations proving these orbifold equivalences depend again on certain parameters satisfying some equations whose solutions are permuted by Galois groups.

Strangely dual orbifold equivalence I

In this brief note we prove orbifold equivalence between two potentials described by strangely dual exceptional unimodular singularities of type $K_{14}$ and $Q_{10}$ in two different ways. The matrix factorizations proving the orbifold equivalence give rise to equations whose solutions are permuted by Galois groups which differ for different expressions of the same singularity.

Matrix factorizations and the Landau-Ginzburg/conformal field theory correspondence

This is the author's PhD thesis, which focuses on the so-called Landau-Ginzburg/conformal field theory correspondence. This correspondence dates from the late 80s and early 90s in the physics literature and in particular, it predicts a relation between defects in Landau-Ginzburg models and defects in conformal field theories. This relation is supported by examples, but not understood in general, nor up to date is there a clear mathematical conjecture of the Landau-Ginzburg/conformal field theory correspondence. The pursuit of a precise mathematical statement of this conjecture continues to generate a rich mathematical output, and this PhD thesis is another contribution towards this end.

N=2 minimal conformal field theories and matrix bifactorisations of x^d

We prove a tensor equivalence between full subcategories of a) graded matrix factorisations of the potential x^d-y^d and b) representations of the N=2 minimal super vertex operator algebra at central charge 3-6/d, where d is odd. The subcategories are given by a) permutation-type matrix factorisations with consecutive index sets, and b) Neveu-Schwarz-type representations. The physical motivation for this result is the Landau-Ginzburg / conformal field theory correspondence, where it amounts to the equivalence of a subset of defects on both sides of the correspondence. Our work builds on results by Brunner and Roggenkamp [arXiv:0707.0922], where an isomorphism of fusion rules was established.

Orbifold equivalent potentials

To a graded finite-rank matrix factorisation of the difference of two homogeneous potentials one can assign two numbers, the left and right quantum dimension. The existence of such a matrix factorisation with non-zero quantum dimensions defines an equivalence relation between potentials, giving rise to non-obvious equivalences of categories. Restricted to ADE singularities, the resulting equivalence classes of potentials are those of type {A_{d-1}} for d odd, {A_{d-1},D_{d/2+1}} for d even but not in {12,18,30}, and {A_{11}, D_7, E_6}, {A_{17}, D_{10}, E_7} and {A_{29}, D_{16}, E_8}. This is the result expected from two-dimensional rational conformal field theory, and it directly leads to new descriptions of and relations between the associated (derived) categories of matrix factorisations and Dynkin quiver representations.
