Effect of Non-linear Lower Order Terms in Quasilinear Equations Involving the $p(x)$-Laplacian

In this work, we study the existence of $W_0^{1, p(\cdot)}$-solutions to the following boundary value problem involving the $p(\cdot)$-Laplacian operator: \begin{equation*} \left\lbrace \begin{array}{l} -Δ_{p(x)}u+|\nabla u|^{q(x)}=λg(x)u^{η(x)}+f(x), \quad\textnormal{ in } Ω, \\\qquad \,\,\,\,\,\quad \quad\qquad\quad u\geq 0, \quad\textnormal{ in } Ω \qquad \,\,\,\,\,\quad \quad\qquad\quad u= 0, \,\,\quad \text{on } \partialΩ. \end{array} \right. \end{equation*}under appropriate ranges on the variable exponents. We give assumptions on $f$ and $g$ in terms of the growth exponents $q$ and $η$ under which the above problem has a non-negative solution for all $λ> 0$.

Local existence conditions for an equations involving the $p(x)$-Laplacian with critical exponent in $\mathbb{R}^N$

The purpose of this paper is to formulate sufficient existence conditions for a critical equation involving the $p(x)$-Laplacian posed in $\mathbb{R}^N$. This equation is critical in the sense that the source term has the form $K(x)|u|^{q(x)-2}u$ with an exponent $q$ that can be equal to the critical exponent $p^*$ at some points of $\mathbb{R}^N$ including at infinity. The sufficient existence conditions we find are local in the sense that they depend only on the behaviour of the exponents $p$ and $q$ near these points. We stress that we do not assume any symmetry or periodicity of the coefficients of the equation and that $K$ is not required to vanish in some sense at infinity like in most existing results. The proof of these local existence conditions is based on a notion of localized best Sobolev constant at infinity and a refined concentration-compactness at infinity.

A Gamma convergence approach to the critical Sobolev embedding in variable exponent spaces

In this paper, we study the critical Sobolev embeddings $W^{1,p(x)}(Ω)\subset L^{p^*(x)}(Ω)$ for variable exponent Sobolev spaces from the point of view of the $Γ$-convergence. More precisely we determine the $Γ$-limit of subcritical approximation of the best constant associated with this embedding. As an application we provide a sufficient condition for the existence of extremals for the best constant.

On the Sobolev trace Theorem for variable exponent spaces in the critical range

In this paper we study the Sobolev Trace Theorem for variable exponent spaces with critical exponents. We find conditions on the best constant in order to guaranty the existence of extremals. Then we give local conditions on the exponents and on the domain (in the spirit of Adimurthy and Yadava) in order to satisfy such conditions, and therefore to ensure the existence of extremals.

Existence of solution to a critical trace equation with variable exponent

In this paper we study sufficient local conditions for the existence of non-trivial solution to a critical equation for the $p(x)-$Laplacian where the critical term is placed as a source through the boundary of the domain. The proof relies on a suitable generalization of the concentration--compactness principle for the trace embedding for variable exponent Sobolev spaces and the classical mountain pass theorem.

On the Sobolev embedding theorem for variable exponent spaces in the critical range

In this paper we study the Sobolev embedding theorem for variable exponent spaces with critical exponents. We find conditions on the best constant in order to guaranty the existence of extremals. The proof is based on a suitable refinement of the estimates in the Concentration--Compactness Theorem for variable exponents and an adaptation of a convexity argument due to P.L. Lions, F. Pacella and M. Tricarico.
