The Non-Compact Weyl Equation

A non-compact version of the Weyl equation is proposed, based on the infinite dimensional spin zero representation of the sl_2 algebra. Solutions of the aforementioned equation are obtained in terms of the Kummer functions. In this context, we discuss the ADHMN approach in order to construct the corresponding non-compact BPS monopoles.

Junction type representations of the Temperley-Lieb algebra and associated symmetries

Inspired by earlier works on representations of the Temperley-Lieb algebra we introduce a novel family of representations of the algebra. This may be seen as a generalization of the so called asymmetric twin representation. The underlying symmetry algebra is also examined and it is shown that in addition to certain obvious exact quantum symmetries non trivial quantum algebraic realizations that exactly commute with the representation also exist. Non trivial representations of the boundary Temperley-Lieb algebra as well as the related residual symmetries are also discussed. The corresponding novel R and K matrices solutions of the Yang-Baxter and reflection equations are identified, the relevant quantum spin chain is also constructed and its exact symmetry is studied.

Introduction to Quantum Integrability

In this article we review the basic concepts regarding quantum integrability. Special emphasis is given on the algebraic content of integrable models. The associated algebras are essentially described by the Yang-Baxter and boundary Yang-Baxter equations depending on the choice of boundary conditions. The relation between the aforementioned equations and the braid group is briefly discussed. A short review on quantum groups as well as the quantum inverse scattering method (algebraic Bethe ansatz) is also presented.

Weyl Equation and (Non)-Commutative SU(n+1) BPS Monopoles

We apply the ADHMN construction to obtain the SU(n+1)(for generic values of n) spherically symmetric BPS monopoles with minimal symmetry breaking. In particular, the problem simplifies by solving the Weyl equation, leading to a set of coupled equations, whose solutions are expressed in terms of the Whittaker functions. Next, this construction is generalized for non-commutative SU(n+1) BPS monopoles, where the corresponding solutions are given in terms of the Heun B functions.

Systematic classical continuum limits of integrable spin chains and emerging novel dualities

We examine certain classical continuum long wave-length limits of prototype integrable quantum spin chains. We define the corresponding construction of classical continuum Lax operators. Our discussion starts with the XXX chain, the anisotropic Heisenberg model and their generalizations and extends to the generic isotropic and anisotropic gl_n magnets. Certain classical and quantum integrable models emerging from special "dualities" of quantum spin chains, parametrized by c-number matrices, are also presented.

Contractions of quantum algebraic structures

A general framework for obtaining certain types of contracted and centrally extended algebras is presented. The whole process relies on the existence of quadratic algebras, which appear in the context of boundary integrable models.

Contracted and expanded integrable structures

We propose a generic framework to obtain certain types of contracted and centrally extended algebras. This is based on the existence of quadratic algebras (reflection algebras and twisted Yangians), naturally arising in the context of boundary integrable models. A quite old misconception regarding the "expansion" of the E_2 algebra into sl_2 is resolved using the representation theory of the aforementioned quadratic algebras. We also obtain centrally extended algebras associated to rational and trigonometric (q-deformed) R-matrices that are solutions of the Yang--Baxter equation.

Boundary Lax pairs from non-ultra local Poisson algebras

We consider non-ultra local linear Poisson algebras on a continuous line . Suitable combinations of representations of these algebras yield representations of novel generalized linear Poisson algebras or "boundary" extensions. They are parametrized by a "boundary" scalar matrix and depend in addition on the choice of an anti-automorphism. The new algebras are the classical-linear counterparts of known quadratic quantum boundary algebras. For any choice of parameters the non-ultra local contribution of the original Poisson algebra disappears. We also systematically construct the associated classical Lax pair. The classical boundary PCM model is examined as a physical example.

Boundary Lax pairs for the $A_{n}^{(1)}$ Toda field theories

Based on the recent formulation of a general scheme to construct boundary Lax pairs,we develop this systematic construction for the $A_n^{(1)}$ affine Toda field theories (ATFT). We work out explicitly the first two models of the hierarchy, i.e. the sine-Gordon ($A_1^{(1)}$) and the $A_2^{(1)}$ models. The $A_2^{(1)}$ Toda theory is the first non-trivial example of the hierarchy that exhibits two distinct types of boundary conditions. We provide here novel expressions of boundary Lax pairs associated to both types of boundary conditions.

Murphy elements from the double-row transfer matrix

We consider the double-row (open) transfer matrix constructed from generic tensor-type representations of various types of Hecke algebras. For different choices of boundary conditions for the relevant integrable lattice model we express the double-row transfer matrix solely in terms of generators of the corresponding Hecke algebra (tensor-type realizations). We then expand the open transfer matrix and extract the associated Murphy elements from the first/last terms of the expansion. Suitable combinations of the Murphy elements as has been shown commute with the corresponding Hecke algebra.

$A_n^{(1)}$ affine Toda field theories with integrable boundary conditions revisited

Generic classically integrable boundary conditions for the $A_{n}^{(1)}$ affine Toda field theories (ATFT) are investigated. The present analysis rests primarily on the underlying algebra, defined by the classical version of the reflection equation. We use as a prototype example the first non-trivial model of the hierarchy i.e. the $A_2^{(1)}$ ATFT, however our results may be generalized for any $A_{n}^{(1)}$ ($n>1$). We assume here two distinct types of boundary conditions called some times soliton preserving (SP), and soliton non-preserving (SNP) associated to two distinct algebras, i.e. the reflection algebra and the ($q$) twisted Yangian respectively. The boundary local integrals of motion are then systematically extracted from the asymptotic expansion of the associated transfer matrix. In the case of SNP boundary conditions we recover previously known results. The other type of boundary conditions (SP), associated to the reflection algebra, are novel in this context and lead to a different set of conserved quantities that depend on free boundary parameters. It also turns out that the number of local integrals of motion for SP boundary conditions is `double' compared to those of the SNP case.

Generic boundary scattering in the open XXZ chain

The open critical XXZ spin chain with a general right boundary and a trivial diagonal left boundary is considered. Within this framework we propose a simple computation of the exact generic boundary S-matrix (with diagonal and non-diagonal entries), starting from the `bare' Bethe ansatz equations. Our results coincide with the ones obtained by Ghoshal and Zamolodchikov, after assuming suitable identifications of the bulk and boundary parameters.

The generalized non-linear Schrodinger model on the interval

The generalized (1+1)-D non-linear Schrodinger (NLS) theory with particular integrable boundary conditions is considered. More precisely, two distinct types of boundary conditions, known as soliton preserving (SP) and soliton non-preserving (SNP), are implemented into the classical $gl_N$ NLS model. Based on this choice of boundaries the relevant conserved quantities are computed and the corresponding equations of motion are derived. A suitable quantum lattice version of the boundary generalized NLS model is also investigated. The first non-trivial local integral of motion is explicitly computed, and the spectrum and Bethe Ansatz equations are derived for the soliton non-preserving boundary conditions.

Integrable boundary conditions and modified Lax equations

We consider integrable boundary conditions for both discrete and continuum classical integrable models. Local integrals of motion generated by the corresponding transfer matrices give rise to time evolution equations for the initial Lax operator. We systematically identify the modified Lax pairs for both discrete and continuum boundary integrable models, depending on the classical r-matrix and the boundary matrix.

Non-diagonal reflection for the non-critical XXZ model

The most general physical boundary $S$-matrix for the open XXZ spin chain in the non-critical regime ($\cosh (η)>1$) is derived starting from the bare Bethe ansazt equations. The boundary $S$-matrix as expected is expressed in terms of $Γ_q$-functions. In the isotropic limit corresponding results for the open XXX chain are also reproduced.

(Quantum) twisted Yangians: symmetry, Baxterisation and centralizers

Based on the (quantum) twisted Yangians, integrable systems with special boundary conditions, called soliton non-preserving (SNP), may be constructed. In the present article we focus on the study of subalgebras of the (quantum) twisted Yangians, and we show that such a subalgebra provides an exact symmetry of the rational transfer matrix. We discuss how the spectrum of a generic transfer matrix may be obtained by focusing only on two types of special boundaries. It is also shown that the subalgebras, emerging from the asymptotics of tensor product representations of the (quantum) twisted Yangian, turn out to be dual to the (quantum) Brauer algebra. To deal with general boundaries in the trigonometric case we propose a new algebra, which also provides the appropriate framework for the Baxterisation procedure in the SNP case.
