Propagation of Uncertainty in a Parton Shower

Presented here is a technique of propagating uncertainties through the parton shower by means of an alternate event weight. This technique provides a mechanism to systematically quantify the effect of variations of certain components of the parton shower leading to a novel approach to probing the physics implemented in a parton shower code and understanding its limitations. Further, this approach can be applied to a large class of parton shower algorithms and requires no changes to the underlying implementation.

Automated computation of one-loop integrals in massless theories

We consider one-loop tensor and scalar integrals, which occur in a massless quantum field theory and we report on the implementation into a numerical program of an algorithm for the automated computation of these one-loop integrals. The number of external legs of the loop integrals is not restricted. All calculations are done within dimensional regularization.

Gaussian limits for discrepancies. I: Asymptotic results

We consider the problem of finding, for a given quadratic measure of non-uniformity of a set of $N$ points (such as $L_2$ star-discrepancy or diaphony), the asymptotic distribution of this discrepancy for truly random points in the limit $N\to\infty$. We then examine the circumstances under which this distribution approaches a normal distribution. For large classes of non-uniformity measures, a Law of Many Modes in the spirit of the Central Limit Theorem can be derived.
