This paper has been withdrawn by the author due a crucial sign error in Theorem B. We present a geometric proof of Thom conjecture, which uses Khovanov homology. Our approach doesn't use any analytic methods and is quite different from proof given by Kronheimer and Mrowka in 1994.
We show that almost complex circle actions with exactly three fixed points do not exist in dimension 8 and present an infinite series of 6-dimensional manifolds possessing an almost complex circle action with exactly two fixed points.
We prove that any quasitoric manifold $M^{2n}$ admits a $T^n$-invariant almost complex structure if and only if $M$ admits a positive omniorientation. In particular, we show that all obstructions to existence of $T^n$-invariant almost complex structure on $M^{2n}$ arise from cohomology of underlying polytope - and hence are trivial.
This paper deals with the question of J.Morava on existence of canonical complex cobordism class of singular submanifold. We present several solutions of this question for $X_r(ξ)$ -- the set of points where $\dimξ-r+1$ generic sections of a complex vector bundle $ξ$ are linearly dependent. The corresponding complex cobordism classes $Q_r(ξ)$ and $P_r(ξ)$ tend to have many nice properties, such as deformed sum formula, but they don't coincide with Chern classes $c_r^U(ξ)$. They also have relation to the theory of $IH$-small resolutions.
We define complex cobordism realizations of cohomological Thom polynomials and study their existence, uniqueness and other features. We show that problem is non-trivial on the example of $Σ^1$ singularity.
