Broadband wide-view all-dielectric handedness-preserving mirror

We report the theoretical design and experimental realization of a wideband, all-dielectric mirror that preserves the handedness of incident light upon reflection in the near-infrared range. The mirror consists of a high-contrast, near-subwavelength, one-dimensional dielectric grating on a Bragg mirror. We optimized this structure using a genetic algorithm and demonstrated its robustness against geometric imperfections and oblique incidence. Experimental reflection spectra measured under normal incidence in a circular polarization basis demonstrate a more than 100-nm-wide reflection band in which more than 98% of the reflected light preserves its handedness. The total reflection coefficient reached 80%. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the fabricated mirror maintains high performance even under oblique incidence for angles up to $\pm 15^\circ$. Owing to these unique characteristics, this mirror can serve as a reflective phase plate, making it an excellent candidate for the creation of a Fabry-P\'erot resonator for chiral light.

The formation of long-lived high-correlated states of light and polarization in high-quality semiconductor microcavity at the resonant laser excitation

The correlation function of radiation from a high-quality semiconductor microcavity at the resonant laser excitation demonstrates oscillations with surprisingly long-period and damping times of a nanosecond range. It was shown that the oscillations are not attributed to weak Rabi interaction between long-lived exciton states and intracavity electromagnetic field. The study of a response with high spectral resolution had revealed that the oscillations arise if a spectral position as well as a period of longitudinal laser modes is similar to modulation components of a microcavity transmission spectrum.

Observation of non-classical light in semiconductor microcavities

Semiconductor microcavities are widely used to study collective interactions of cavity exciton-polaritons leading to their condensation phenomenon. Exciton-light interaction is highly enhanced in such structures due to the resonance enhancement of the electromagnetic field inside the high quality cavity. Considerably lower interest is concerned to exciton states non-resonant with the cavity mode for which the exciton-photon interaction is strongly reduced due to the existence of the cavity. We point out here that these states are responsible for non-classical light generation in semiconductor microcavities.
