Best weighted approximation of some kernels on the real axis

We calculate the exact value and find the polynomial of the best weighted polynomial approximation of kernels of the form $\frac {A+Bt}{(t^2+\lambda^2)^{s+1}}$, where $A$ and $B$ are fixed complex numbers, $\lambda>0$, $s\in {\mathbb N}$, in the mean square metric.

Actual problems of the approximation theory in metrics of discrete spaces on sets of summable periodic and almost periodic functions

This review paper highlights the main aspects of the development of research related to the solution of extreme problems in the theory of approximation in the spaces ${\mathcal S}^p$ and $B{\mathcal S}^p$ of periodic and almost periodic summable functions, respectively, where the $l_p$-norms of the sequences of Fourier coefficients are finite. In particular, the review contains the results known so far concerning the best, best $n$-term approximations and widths of classes of functions of one and many variables defined by means of $\psi$-derivatives and generalized moduli of smoothness in the spaces ${\mathcal S}^p$ and $B{\mathcal S}^p$. Particular attention is paid to the development of studies related to the derivation of direct and inverse approximation theorems in these spaces.

Approximation on hexagonal domains by Taylor-Abel-Poisson means

Approximative properties of the Taylor-Abel-Poisson linear summation me\-thod of Fourier series are considered for functions of several variables, periodic with respect to the hexagonal domain, in the integral metric. In particular, direct and inverse theorems are proved in terms of approximations of functions by the Taylor-Abel-Poisson means and $K$-functionals generated by radial derivatives. Bernstein type inequalities for $L_1$-norm of high-order radial derivatives of the Poisson kernel are also obtained.

Direct and inverse approximation theorems in the Besicovitch-Museilak-Orlicz spaces of almost periodic functions

In terms of the best approximations of functions and generalized moduli of smoothness, direct and inverse approximation theorems are proved for Besicovitch almost periodic functions whose Fourier exponent sequences have a single limit point in infinity and their Orlicz norms are finite. Special attention is paid to the study of cases when the constants in these theorems are unimprovable.

Widths of functional classes defined by majorants of generalized moduli of smoothness in the spaces ${\mathcal S}^p$

Exact Jackson-type inequalities are obtained in terms of best approximations and averaged values of generalized moduli of smoothness in the spaces ${\mathcal S}^p$. The values of Kolmogorov, Bernstein, linear, and projective widths in the spaces ${\mathcal S}^p$ are found for classes of periodic functions defined by certain conditions on the averaged values of the generalized moduli of smoothness.

Approximation theorems for multivariate Taylor-Abel-Poisson means

We obtain direct and inverse approximation theorems of functions of several variables by Taylor-Abel-Poisson means in the integral metrics. We also show that norms of multipliers in the spaces $L_{p,Y}(\mathbb T^d)$ are equivalent for all positive integers $d.$
