Reduction principle for functionals of vector random fields

We prove a version of the reduction principle for functionals of vector long-range dependent random fields. The components of the fields may have different long-range dependent behaviours. The results are illustrated by an application to the first Minkowski functional of the Fisher-Snedecor random fields. Simulation studies confirm the obtained theoretical results and suggest some new problems.

On Approximation for Fractional Stochastic Partial Differential Equations on the Sphere

This paper gives the exact solution in terms of the Karhunen-Loève expansion to a fractional stochastic partial differential equation on the unit sphere $\mathbb{S}^{2}\subset \mathbb{R}^{3}$ with fractional Brownian motion as driving noise and with random initial condition given by a fractional stochastic Cauchy problem. A numerical approximation to the solution is given by truncating the Karhunen-Loève expansion. We show the convergence rates of the truncation errors in degree and the mean square approximation errors in time. Numerical examples using an isotropic Gaussian random field as initial condition and simulations of evolution of cosmic microwave background (CMB) are given to illustrate the theoretical results.

Weak convergence of weighted additive functionals of long-range dependent fields

We provide asymptotic results for the distribution of weighted nonlinear functionals of Gaussian field with long-range dependence. We also show that integral functionals and the corresponding additive functionals have same distributions under certain assumptions. The result is applied to integrals over a multidimensional rectangle with a constant weight function.

On rate of convergence in non-central limit theorems

The main result of this paper is the rate of convergence to Hermite-type distributions in non-central limit theorems. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first result in the literature on rates of convergence of functionals of random fields to Hermite-type distributions with ranks greater than 2. The results were obtained under rather general assumptions on the spectral densities of random fields. These assumptions are even weaker than in the known convergence results for the case of Rosenblatt distributions. Additionally, Lévy concentration functions for Hermite-type distributions were investigated.

Aliasing-truncation Errors in Sampling Approximations of Sub-Gaussian Signals

The article starts with new aliasing-truncation error upper bounds in the sampling theorem for non-bandlimited stochastic signals. Then, it investigates $L_p([0,T])$ approximations of sub-Gaussian random signals. Explicit truncation error upper bounds are established. The obtained rate of convergence provides a constructive algorithm for determining the sampling rate and the sample size in the truncated Whittaker-Kotel'nikov-Shannon expansions to ensure the approximation of sub-Gaussian signals with given accuracy and reliability. Some numerical examples are presented.

On the rate of convergence to Rosenblatt-type distribution

The main result of the article is the rate of convergence to the Rosenblatt-type distributions in non-central limit theorems. Specifications of the main theorem are discussed for several scenarios. In particular, special attention is paid to the Cauchy, generalized Linnik's, and local-global distinguisher random processes and fields. Direct analytical methods are used to investigate the rate of convergence in the uniform metric.

Whittaker-Kotel'nikov-Shannon approximation of $φ$-sub-Gaussian random processes

The article starts with generalizations of some classical results and new truncation error upper bounds in the sampling theorem for bandlimited stochastic processes. Then, it investigates $L_p([0,T])$ and uniform approximations of $φ$-sub-Gaussian random processes by finite time sampling sums. Explicit truncation error upper bounds are established. Some specifications of the general results for which the assumptions can be easily verified are given. Direct analytical methods are employed to obtain the results.

Sojourn measures of Student and Fisher-Snedecor random fields

Limit theorems for the volumes of excursion sets of weakly and strongly dependent heavy-tailed random fields are proved. Some generalizations to sojourn measures above moving levels and for cross-correlated scenarios are presented. Special attention is paid to Student and Fisher-Snedecor random fields. Some simulation results are also presented.

Uniform convergence of compactly supported wavelet expansions of Gaussian random processes

New results on uniform convergence in probability for expansions of Gaussian random processes using compactly supported wavelets are given. The main result is valid for general classes of nonstationary processes. An application of the obtained results to stationary processes is also presented. It is shown that the convergence rate of the expansions is exponential.

On convergence of general wavelet decompositions of nonstationary stochastic processes

The paper investigates uniform convergence of wavelet expansions of Gaussian random processes. The convergence is obtained under simple general conditions on processes and wavelets which can be easily verified. Applications of the developed technique are shown for several classes of stochastic processes. In particular, the main theorem is adjusted to the fractional Brownian motion case. New results on the rate of convergence of the wavelet expansions in the space $C([0,T])$ are also presented.

Asymptotic behaviour of functionals of cyclical long-range dependent random fields

Long-range dependent random fields with spectral densities which are unbounded at some frequencies are investigated. We demonstrate new examples of covariance functions which do not exhibit regular varying asymptotic behaviour at infinity. However, variances of averaged functionals of these fields are regularly varying. Limit theorems for weighted functionals of cyclical long-range dependent fields are obtained. The order of normalizing constants and relations between the weight functions and singularities in non-degenerative asymptotics are discussed.

Universal truncation error upper bounds in irregular sampling restoration

Universal (pointwise uniform and time shifted) truncation error upper bounds are presented in Whittaker--Kotel'nikov--Shannon (WKS) sampling restoration sum for Bernstein function class $B_{π,d}^q\,,\ q \ge 1,$ $d\in \mathbb N\,,$ when the sampled functions decay rate is unknown. The case of multidimensional irregular sampling is discussed.

Universal truncation error upper bounds in sampling restoration

Universal (pointwise uniform and time shifted) truncation error upper bounds are presented for the Whittaker--Kotel'nikov--Shannon (WKS) sampling restoration sum for Bernstein function classes $B_{π,d}^q,\, q>1,\, d\in \mathbb N$, when the decay rate of the sampled functions is unknown. The case of regular sampling is discussed. Extremal properties of related series of sinc functions are investigated.

Limit theorems for weighted functionals of cyclical long-range dependent random fields

The paper investigates isotropic random fields for which the spectral density is unbounded at some frequencies. Limit theorems for weighted functionals of these random fields are established. It is shown that for a wide class of functionals, which includes the Donsker scheme, the limit is not affected by singularities at non-zero frequencies. For general schemes, in contrast to the Donsker line, we demonstrate that the singularities at non-zero frequencies play a role even for linear functionals.

Tauberian and Abelian theorems for long-range dependent random fields

This paper surveys Abelian and Tauberian theorems for long-range dependent random fields. We describe a framework for asymptotic behaviour of covariance functions or variances of averaged functionals of random fields at infinity and spectral densities at zero. The use of the theorems and their limitations are demonstrated through applications to some new and less-known examples of covariance functions of long-range dependent random fields.
