Kantowski-Sachs cosmology in scalar-torsion theory

In the context of scalar-torsion theory we investigate the evolution of the cosmological anisotropies for a Kantowski-Sachs background geometry. We study the phase-space of the gravitational field equations by determining the admitted stationary points and study their stability properties. For the potential function of the non-minimally coupled scalar field we assume the exponential and the power-law functions. Finally, we make use of Poincare variables in order to investigate the existence of stationary points at the infinity regime of the dynamics.

Phase-space analysis of an Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet scalar field cosmology

We perform a detailed study of the phase-space of the field equations of an Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet scalar field cosmology for a spatially flat Friedmann--Lema\^ıtre--Robertson--Walker spacetime. For the scalar field potential, we consider the exponential function. In contrast, for the coupling function of the scalar field with the Gauss-Bonnet term, we assume two cases, the exponential function and the power-law function. We write the field equations in dimensionless variables and study the equilibrium points using Poincare variables. For the exponential coupling function, the asymptotic solutions describe de Sitter universes or spacetimes where the Gauss-Bonnet term dominates. We recovered previous results but found new asymptotic solutions not previously studied. For the power-law coupling function, equilibrium points which describe the scaling solution appear. Finally, the power-law coupling provides a rich cosmological phenomenology.

Revisiting Fractional Cosmology

Recently, the research community has been exploring fractional calculus to address problems related to cosmology; in this approach, the gravitational action integral is altered, leading to a modified Friedmann equation, then the resulting theory is compared against observational data. In this context, dynamical systems can be used along with an analysis the phase spaces for different values of the fractional order of the derivative and their different matter contents. The equilibrium points are classified, providing a range for the order of the fractional derivative in order to investigate whether the cosmological history can be reconstructed and a late-time accelerating power-law solution obtained for the scale factor. In this paper, we discuss the physical interpretation of the corresponding cosmological solutions with particular emphasis on the influence of the fractional order of the derivative in a theory of gravity that includes a scalar field minimally coupled to gravity. The presented results improve and extend those obtained previously, further demonstrating that fractional calculus can play a relevant role in cosmology.

Classification of the Lie and Noether symmetries for the Klein-Gordon equation in Anisotropic Cosmology

We carried out the detailed group classification of the potential in Klein-Gordon equation in anisotropic Riemannian manifolds. Specifically, we consider the Klein-Gordon equations for the four-dimensional anisotropic and homogeneous spacetimes of Bianchi I, Bianchi\ III and Bianchi V. We derive all the closed-form expressions for the potential function where the equation admits Lie and Noether symmetries. We apply previous results which connect the Lie symmetries\ of the differential equation with the collineations of the Riemannian space which defines the Laplace operator, and we solve the classification problem in a systematic way.

Exploring bulk viscous unified scenarios with Gravitational Waves Standard Sirens

We consider the unified bulk viscous scenarios and constrain them using the Cosmic Microwave Background observations from Planck 2018 and the Pantheon sample from Type Ia Supernovae. Then we generate the luminosity distance measurements from ${\cal O}(10^3)$ mock Gravitational Wave Standard Sirens (GWSS) events for the proposed Einstein Telescope. We then combine these mock luminosity distance measurements from the GWSS with the current cosmological probes in order to forecast how the mock GWSS data could be effective in constraining these bulk viscous scenarios. Our results show that a non-zero time dependent bulk viscosity in the universe sector is strongly preferred by the current cosmological probes and will possibly be confirmed at many standard deviations by the future GWSS measurements. We further mention that the addition of GWSS data can significantly reduce the uncertainties of the key cosmological parameters obtained from the usual cosmological probes employed in this work.

Multiscalar-torsion Cosmology: Exact and Analytic Solutions from Noether Symmetries

The Noether symmetry analysis is applied in a multi-scalar field cosmological model in teleparallel gravity. In particular, we consider two scalar fields with interaction in scalar-torsion theory. The field equations have a minisuperspace description, and the evolution of the physical variables depends on the potential function that drives the scalar fields' dynamics. With the requirement for the field equations to admit non-trivial Noether point symmetries and the use of the first theorem of Noether, we constraint all the functional forms for the potential. Finally, we apply symmetry vectors and the corresponding conservation laws to determine exact and analytic solutions in multiscalar-torsion cosmology.

Scalar Field cosmology from a Modified Poisson Algebra

We investigate the phase space of a scalar field theory obtained by minisuperspace deformation. We consider quintessence or phantom scalar fields in the action which arise from minisuperspace deformation on the Einstein-Hilbert action. We use a modified Poisson Algebra where Poisson brackets are the $α$-deformed ones and are related to the Moyal-Weyl star product. We discuss early and late-time attractors, and we reconstruct the cosmological evolution. We show that the model can have $Λ$CDM model as a future attractor if we initially consider a massless scalar field without a cosmological constant term.

Complex Scalar fields in Scalar-Tensor and Scalar-Torsion theories

We investigate the cosmological dynamics in a spatially flat Friedmann--Lema\^ıtre--Robertson--Walker geometry in scalar-tensor and scalar-torsion theories where the nonminimally coupled scalar field is a complex field. We derive the cosmological field equations and we make use of dimensionless variables in order to determine the stationary points and determine their stability properties. The physical properties of the stationary points are discussed while we find that the two-different theories, scalar-tensor and scalar-torsion theories, share many common features in terms of the evolution of the physical variables in the background space.

Classical and quantum cosmological solutions in teleparallel dark energy with anisotropic background geometry

We investigate exact and analytic solutions for the field equations in teleparallel dark energy model where the physical space is described by the locally rotational symmetric Bianchi I, Bianchi III and Kantowski-Sachs geometries. We make use of the property that a point-like Lagrangian exist for the description of the field equations and variational symmetries are applied for the construction of invariant functions and conservation laws. The later are used for the derivation of new analytic solutions for the classical field equations and exact function forms for the wavefunction in the quantum limit.

$f(T,B)$ gravity in a Friedmann-Lema\^ıtre-Robertson-Walker universe with nonzero spatial curvature

We investigate exact solutions and the asymptotic dynamics for the Friedmann-Lema\^ıtre-Robertson-Walker universe with nonzero spatial curvature in the fourth-order modified teleparallel gravitational theory known as $f\left( T, B\right) $ theory. We show that the field equations admit a minisuperspace description, and they can reproduce any exact form of the scale factor. Moreover, we calculate the equilibrium points and analyze their stability. We show that Milne and Milne-like solutions are supported, and the de Sitter universe is provided. To complete our analysis, we use Poincaré variables to investigate the dynamics at infinity.

Lie symmetry approach to the time-dependent Karmarkar condition

We obtain solutions of the time-dependent Einstein Field Equations which satisfy the Karmarkar condition via the method of Lie symmetries. Spherically symmetric spacetime metrics are used with metric functions set to impose conformal flatness, Weyl-free collapse and shear-free collapse. In particular, a solution was found which satisfies the heat-flux boundary condition of Santos, and a radiating stellar model was then obtained and investigated. Solutions obtained which do not allow for the application of the junction conditions at a boundary surface may lend themselves to cosmological models. This is a first attempt in generating solutions satisfying the Karmarkar condition via the method of Lie symmetries and our example of a radiating model highlights the viability of this method.

Similarity transformations and linearization for a family of dispersionless integrable PDEs

We apply the theory of Lie point symmetries for the study of a family of partial differential equations which are integrable by the hyperbolic reductions method and are reduced to members of the Painlevé transcendents. The main results of this study is that from the application of the similarity transformations provided by the Lie point symmetries all the members of the family of the partial differential equations are reduced to second-order differential equations which are maximal symmetric and can be linearized.

New exact and analytic solutions in Weyl Integrable cosmology from Noether symmetry analysis

We consider a cosmological model in a Friedmann--Lema\^ıtre--Robertson--Walker background space with an ideal gas defined in Weyl Integrable gravity. In the Einstein-Weyl theory a scalar field is introduced in a geometric way. Furthermore, the scalar field and the ideal gas interact in the gravitational Action Integral. Furthermore, we introduce a potential term for the scalar field potential and we show that the field equations admit a minisuperspace description. Noether's theorem is applied for the constraint of the potential function and the corresponding conservation laws are constructed. Finally, we solve the Hamilton-Jacobi equation for the cosmological model and we derive a family of new solutions in Weyl Integrable cosmology. Some closed-form expressions for the Hubble function are presented.

Cosmological solutions with time-delay

We introduce a time-delay function in bulk viscosity cosmology. Even for bulk viscosity functions where closed-form solutions are known, because of the time-delay term the exact solutions are lost. Therefore in order to study the cosmological evolution of the resulting models we perform a detail analysis of the stability of the critical points, which describe de Sitter solutions, by using Lindstedt's method. We find that for the stability of the critical points it depends also on the time-delay parameter, where a critical time-delay value is found which play the role of a bifurcation point. For time-delay values near to the critical value, the cosmological evolution has a periodic evolution, this oscillating behaviour is because of the time-delay function. We find a new behaviour near the exponential expansion point, which can be seen also as an alternative way to exit the exponential inflation.

Anisotropic spacetimes in $f(T,B)$ theory I: Bianchi I Universe

That is the first part of a series of studies on analyzing the higher-order teleparallel theory of gravity known as the $f(T, B)$-theory. This work attempts to understand how the anisotropic spacetimes are involved in the $f(T, B)$-theory. In this work, we review the previous analysis of $f(T, B)$-gravity, and we investigate the global dynamics in the case of a locally rotational Bianchi I background geometry. We focus in the case of $f\left( T,B\right) =T+F\left( B\right) $ theory and we determine the criteria where the $f\left( T,B\right) $-theory solves the homogeneity problem. Finally, the integrability properties for the field equations are investigated by applying the Painlevé analysis. The analytic solution is expressed by a right Painlevé expansion.

Anisotropic spacetimes in $f(T,B)$ theory II: Kantowski-Sachs Universe

In the context of the modified teleparallel $f(T, B)$-theory of gravity, we consider a homogeneous and anisotropic background geometry described by the Kantowski-Sachs line element. We derive the field equations and investigate the existence of exact solutions. Furthermore, the evolution of the trajectories for the field equations is studied by deriving the stationary points at the finite and infinite regimes. For the $f(T,B)=T+F\left( B\right) $ theory, we prove that for a specific limit of the function $F\left( B\right) $, the anisotropic Universe has the expanding and isotropic Universe as an attractor with zero spatial curvature. We remark that there are no future attractors where the asymptotic solution describes a Universe with nonzero spatial curvature.

Anisotropic spacetimes in $f(T,B)$ theory III: LRS Bianchi III Universe

We study the asymptotic dynamics of $f(T, B)$-theory in an anisotropic Bianchi III background geometry. We show that an attractor always exists for the field equations, which depends on a free parameter provided by the specific $f(T, B)$ functional form. The attractor is an accelerated spatially flat FLRW or non-accelerated LRS Bianchi III geometry. Consequently, the $f(T, B)$-theory provides a spatially flat and isotropic accelerated Universe.

Anisotropic spacetimes in $f(T,B)$ theory IV: Noether symmetry analysis

The Noether symmetry analysis is applied for the analysis of the field equations in an anisotropic background in $f(T,B)$-theory. We consider the $f\left( T,B\right) =T+F\left( B\right) $ which describes a small deviation from TEGR introduced by the boundary scalar $B$. For the Bianchi\ I, Bianchi III and Kantowski-Sachs geometries there exists a minisuperspace description and Noether's theorems are applied. We investigate the existence of invariant point transformations. We find that for the Bianchi I spacetime the gravitational field equations are Liouville integrable for the $F\left( B\right) =-\frac{B}λ\ln B$ theory. The analytic solution is derived and the application of Noether symmetries to the Wheeler-DeWitt equation of quantum cosmology is discussed.
