Teoría de homotopía usando conjuntos simpliciales

These lecture notes (in Spanish) are based on a mini-course given by A. Osorno and M. Rivera at the First Colombian Geometry and Topology Meeting that took place at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia in July 2024 in Bogota. They are intended to be a guide for a first encounter with homotopy theory and simplicial methods - emphasizing intuition and important statements - accessible to students with basic knowledge of point set topology.

Saturated and linear isometric transfer systems for cyclic groups of order $p^mq^n$

Transfer systems are combinatorial objects which classify $N_\infty$ operads up to homotopy. By results of A. Blumberg and M. Hill, every transfer system associated to a linear isometries operad is also saturated (closed under a particular two-out-of-three property). We investigate saturated and linear isometric transfer systems with equivariance group $C_{p^mq^n}$, the cyclic group of order $p^mq^n$ for $p,q$ distinct primes and $m,n\ge 0$. We give a complete enumeration of saturated transfer systems for $C_{p^mq^n}$. We also prove J. Rubin's saturation conjecture for $C_{pq^n}$; this says that every saturated transfer system is realized by a linear isometries operad for $p,q$ sufficiently large (greater than $3$ in this case).

A multiplicative comparison of Waldhausen and Segal K-theory

In this paper, we establish a multiplicative equivalence between two multiplicative algebraic $K$-theory constructions, Elmendorf and Mandell's version of Segal's $K$-theory and Blumberg and Mandell's version of Waldhausen's $S_\bullet$ construction. This equivalence implies that the ring spectra, algebra spectra, and module spectra constructed via these two classical algebraic $K$-theory functors are equivalent as ring, algebra or module spectra, respectively. It also allows for comparisions of spectrally enriched categories constructed via these definitions of $K$-theory. As both the Elmendorf--Mandell and Blumberg--Mandell multiplicative versions of $K$-theory encode their multiplicativity in the language of multicategories, our main theorem is that there is multinatural transformation relating these two symmetric multifunctors that lifts the classical functor from Segal's to Waldhausen's construction. Along the way, we provide a slight generalization of the Elmendorf--Mandell construction to symmetric monoidal categories.

Spectra associated to symmetric monoidal bicategories

We show how to construct a Gamma-bicategory from a symmetric monoidal bicategory, and use that to show that the classifying space is an infinite loop space upon group completion. We also show a way to relate this construction to the classic Gamma-category construction for a bipermutative category. As an example, we use this machinery to construct a delooping of the K-theory of a bimonoidal category as defined by Baas-Dundas-Rognes.

Explicit Formulas for 2-Characters

Ganter and Kapranov associated a 2-character to 2-representations of a finite group. Elgueta classified 2-representations in the category of 2-vector spaces 2Vect_k in terms of cohomological data. We give an explicit formula for the 2-character in terms of this cohomological data and derive some consequences.
