LUMINA-26: Low-Light Understanding for Modeling and Interpreting Night-time Actions

Low-light human action recognition remains a challenging problem due to poor illumination, amplified noise, motion ambiguity, and diverse real-world scenes. Existing low-light datasets often lack sufficient action diversity, capture realism, or balanced class distribution, limiting the development of robust models. To address this, we introduce LUMINA-26: Low-Light Understanding for Modeling and Interpreting Night-time Actions, comprising 6,784 clips across 26 action classes, recorded from 22 subjects across 20 indoor and outdoor locations under naturally occurring low-light conditions. We also propose Illumi-Net: An Illumination-Adaptive Mixture-of-Experts Network, which leverages video-level illumination cues to guide adaptive enhancement and transformer-based spatio-temporal feature extraction, with expert-conditioned decision fusion. Our method surpasses previous state-of-the-art performance on ELLAR (Top-1: 55.13%, Top-5: 78.87%) and establishes a strong baseline on LUMINA-26 (Top-1: 75.95%, Top-5: 93.58%), offering a practical benchmark for future low-light action recognition research.

Cluster Based Deep Contextual Reinforcement Learning for top-k Recommendations

Rapid advancements in the E-commerce sector over the last few decades have led to an imminent need for personalised, efficient and dynamic recommendation systems. To sufficiently cater to this need, we propose a novel method for generating top-k recommendations by creating an ensemble of clustering with reinforcement learning. We have incorporated DB Scan clustering to tackle vast item space, hence in-creasing the efficiency multi-fold. Moreover, by using deep contextual reinforcement learning, our proposed work leverages the user features to its full potential. With partial updates and batch updates, the model learns user patterns continuously. The Duelling Bandit based exploration provides robust exploration as compared to the state-of-art strategies due to its adaptive nature. Detailed experiments conducted on a public dataset verify our claims about the efficiency of our technique as com-pared to existing techniques.

Hierarchy Influenced Differential Evolution: A Motor Operation Inspired Approach

Operational maturity of biological control systems have fuelled the inspiration for a large number of mathematical and logical models for control, automation and optimisation. The human brain represents the most sophisticated control architecture known to us and is a central motivation for several research attempts across various domains. In the present work, we introduce an algorithm for mathematical optimisation that derives its intuition from the hierarchical and distributed operations of the human motor system. The system comprises global leaders, local leaders and an effector population that adapt dynamically to attain global optimisation via a feedback mechanism coupled with the structural hierarchy. The hierarchical system operation is distributed into local control for movement and global controllers that facilitate gross motion and decision making. We present our algorithm as a variant of the classical Differential Evolution algorithm, introducing a hierarchical crossover operation. The discussed approach is tested exhaustively on standard test functions as well as the CEC 2017 benchmark. Our algorithm significantly outperforms various standard algorithms as well as their popular variants as discussed in the results.
