Operationalization of Machine Learning with Serverless Architecture: An Industrial Operationalization of Machine Learning with Serverless Architecture: An Industrial Implementation for Harmonized System Code Prediction

This paper presents a serverless MLOps framework orchestrating the complete ML lifecycle from data ingestion, training, deployment, monitoring, and retraining to using event-driven pipelines and managed services. The architecture is model-agnostic, supporting diverse inference patterns through standardized interfaces, enabling rapid adaptation without infrastructure overhead. We demonstrate practical applicability through an industrial implementation for Harmonized System (HS) code prediction, a compliance-critical task where short, unstructured product descriptions are mapped to standardized codes used by customs authorities in global trade. Frequent updates and ambiguous descriptions make classification challenging, with errors causing shipment delays and financial losses. Our solution uses a custom text embedding encoder and multiple deep learning architectures, with Text-CNN achieving 98 percent accuracy on ground truth data. Beyond accuracy, the pipeline ensures reproducibility, auditability, and SLA adherence under variable loads via auto-scaling. A key feature is automated A/B testing, enabling dynamic model selection and safe promotion in production. Cost-efficiency drives model choice; while transformers may achieve similar accuracy, their long-term operational costs are significantly higher. Deterministic classification with predictable latency and explainability is prioritized, though the architecture remains extensible to transformer variants and LLM-based inference. The paper first introduces the deep learning architectures with simulations and model comparisons, then discusses industrialization through serverless architecture, demonstrating automated retraining, prediction, and validation of HS codes. This work provides a replicable blueprint for operationalizing ML using serverless architecture, enabling enterprises to scale while optimizing performance and economics.

Context-Awareness and Interpretability of Rare Occurrences for Discovery and Formalization of Critical Failure Modes

Vision systems are increasingly deployed in critical domains such as surveillance, law enforcement, and transportation. However, their vulnerabilities to rare or unforeseen scenarios pose significant safety risks. To address these challenges, we introduce Context-Awareness and Interpretability of Rare Occurrences (CAIRO), an ontology-based human-assistive discovery framework for failure cases (or CP - Critical Phenomena) detection and formalization. CAIRO by design incentivizes human-in-the-loop for testing and evaluation of criticality that arises from misdetections, adversarial attacks, and hallucinations in AI black-box models. Our robust analysis of object detection model(s) failures in automated driving systems (ADS) showcases scalable and interpretable ways of formalizing the observed gaps between camera perception and real-world contexts, resulting in test cases stored as explicit knowledge graphs (in OWL/XML format) amenable for sharing, downstream analysis, logical reasoning, and accountability.

AipanVR: A Virtual Reality Experience for Preserving Uttarakhand's Traditional Art Form

This paper presents a demonstration of the developed prototype showcasing a way to preserve the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Uttarakhand, India. Aipan is a traditional art form practiced in the Kumaon region in the state of Uttarakhand. It is typically used to decorate floors and walls at places of worship or entrances of homes and is considered auspicious to begin any work or event. This art is associated with a great degree of social, cultural as well as religious significance and is passed from generation to generation. However, in the present era of modernization and technological advancements, this art form now stands on the verge of depletion. This study presents a humble attempt to preserve this vanishing art form through the use of Virtual Reality (VR). Ethnographic studies were conducted in Almora, Nainital, and Haldwani regions of Uttarakhand to trace the origins as well as to gain a deeper understanding of this art form. A total of ten (N =10) Aipan designers were interviewed. Several interesting insights are revealed through these studies that show the potential to be incorporated as a VR experience.

A Rapid Scoping Review and Conceptual Analysis of the Educational Metaverse in the Global South: Socio-Technical Perspectives

This paper presents a conceptual insight into the Design of the Metaverse to facilitate educational transformation in selected developing nations within the Global South regions, e.g., India. These regions are often afflicted with socio-economic challenges but rich in cultural diversity. By utilizing a socio-technical design approach, this study explores the specific needs and opportunities presented by these diverse settings. A rapid scoping review of the scant existing literature is conducted to provide fundamental insights. A novel design methodology was formulated that utilized ChatGPT for ideation, brainstorming, and literature survey query generation. This paper aims not only to shed light on the educational possibilities enabled by the Metaverse but also to highlight design considerations unique to the Global South.
