Boundaries of Baker domains of entire functions. A finer approach

We consider transcendental entire functions having doubly parabolic Baker domains, such that the Denjoy-Wolff point of the associated inner function is not a singularity. We describe in a very precise way the dynamics on the boundary from a measure-theoretical point of view. Applications of such results lead to a better understanding of the topology and the dynamics on the boundaries. In particular, we improve some of the results in [N. Fagella and A. Jové, A model for boundary dynamics of Baker domains], for the Baker domain of $z+e^{-z}$. In fact, our conclusions are obtained by applying new results established here on the dynamics of the radial extension of one component doubly parabolic inner functions, which strengthen those of [O. Ivrii and M. Urbański, Inner functions, composition operators, symbolic dynamics and thermodynamic formalism].

On the convergence of boundary points for hyperbolic inner functions

Given a hyperbolic inner function $f \colon \mathbb{D} \to \mathbb{D}$ with Denjoy-Wolff point $p \in \partial \mathbb{D}$, it is well known that almost every point $ξ\in \partial \mathbb{D}$ converges to $p$ under iteration of the radial extension $f^* \colon \partial \mathbb{D} \to \partial \mathbb{D}$. We provide explicit bounds for the rate of this convergence in terms of the angular derivative, holding almost surely. Our results also cover the case where the Denjoy-Wolff point is a singularity.

Pesin theory for transcendental maps and applications

In this paper, we develop Pesin theory for the boundary map of some Fatou components of transcendental functions, under certain hyptothesis on the singular values and the Lyapunov exponent. That is, we prove that generic inverse branches for such maps are well-defined and conformal. In particular, we study in depth the Lyapunov exponents with respect to harmonic measure, providing results which are of independent interest. As an application of our results, we describe in detail generic inverse branches for centered inner functions, and we prove density of periodic boundary points for a large class of Fatou components. Our proofs use techniques from measure theory, ergodic theory, conformal analysis, and inner functions, as well as estimates on harmonic measure.

Boundaries of multiply connected Fatou components. A unified approach

We analyze the boundaries of multiply connected Fatou components of transcendental maps by means of universal covering maps and associated inner functions. A unified approach is presented, which includes invariant Fatou components (of any type) as well as wandering domains. We prove that any Fatou component admits a harmonic measure on its boundary whose support is the whole boundary. Consequently, we relate, in a successful way, the geometric structure of such Fatou components (in terms of the limit sets of their universal covering maps), the dynamics induced on their boundary from an ergodic point of view, and analytic properties of the associated inner function.

Boundaries of hyperbolic and simply parabolic Baker domains

We study the boundaries of non-univalent simply connected Baker domains of transcendental maps (both entire and meromorphic), of hyperbolic and simply parabolic type. We prove non-ergodicity and non-recurrence for the boundary map, and additional properties concerning the Julia set and the set of singularities of the associated inner function, and the topology and the dynamics on the boundary of the Baker domain. In particular, we prove the existence of points on the boundary whose orbit does not converge to infinity through the dynamical access, in the sense of Carathéodory. Finally, under mild conditions on the postsingular set, we prove the existence of periodic points on the boundary of such Baker domains.

Boundary behaviour of universal covering maps

Let $Ω\subset\widehat{\mathbb{C}}$ be a multiply connected domain, and let $π\colon \mathbb{D}\toΩ$ be a universal covering map. In this paper, we analyze the boundary behaviour of $π$, describing the interplay between radial limits and angular cluster sets, the tangential and non-tangential limit sets of the deck transformation group, and the geometry and the topology of the boundary of $Ω$. As an application, we describe accesses to the boundary of $Ω$ in terms of radial limits of points in the unit circle, establishing a correspondence in the same spirit as in the simply connected case. We also develop a theory of prime ends for multiply connected domains which behaves properly under the universal covering, providing an extension of the Carathéodory--Torhorst Theorem to multiply connected domains.

Boundary dynamics in unbounded Fatou components

We study the behaviour of a transcendental entire map $ f\colon \mathbb{C}\to\mathbb{C} $ on an unbounded invariant Fatou component $ U $, assuming that infinity is accessible from $ U $. It is well-known that $ U $ is simply connected. Hence, by means of a Riemann map $ φ\colon\mathbb{D}\to U $ and the associated inner function, the boundary of $ U $ is described topologically in terms of the disjoint union of clusters sets, each of them consisting of one or two connected components in $ \mathbb{C} $. Moreover, under more precise assumptions on the distribution of singular values, it is proven that periodic and escaping boundary points are dense in $ \partial U $, being all periodic boundary points accessible from $ U $. Finally, under the same conditions, the set of singularities of $ g $ is shown to have zero Lebesgue measure.

Periodic boundary points for simply connected Fatou components of transcendental maps

Let f be a transcendental map, and let U be an attracting or parabolic basin, or a doubly parabolic Baker domain. Assume U is simply connected. Then, we prove that periodic points are dense in the boundary of U, under certain hypothesis on the postsingular set. This generalizes a result by F. Przytycki and A. Zdunik for rational maps. Our proof uses techniques from measure theory, ergodic theory, conformal analysis, and inner functions. In particular, a result on the distortion of inner functions near the unit circle is provided, which is of independent interest.
