Stochastic homogenization of the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation

Following the ideas of V. V. Zhikov and A. L. Pyatnitski, and more precisely the stochastic two-scale convergence, this paper establishes a homogenization theorem in a stochastic setting for two nonlinear equations : the equation of harmonic maps into the sphere and the Landau-Lifschitz equation. These equations have strong nonlinear features, in particular, in general their solutions are not unique.

Existence, uniqueness and regularity for the stochastic Ericksen-Leslie equation

We investigate existence and uniqueness for the stochastic liquid crystal flow driven by colored noise on the two-dimensional torus. After giving a natural uniqueness criterion, we prove local solvability in $L^p$-based spaces, for every $p>2.$ Thanks to a bootstrap principle together with a Gyöngy-Krylov-type compactness argument, this will ultimately lead us to prove the existence of a particular class of global solutions which are partially regular, strong in the probabilistic sense, and taking values in the "critical space" $L^2\times H^1.$

A semi-discrete scheme for the stochastic Landau-Lifshitz equation

We propose a new convergent time semi-discrete scheme for the stochastic Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. The scheme is only linearly implicit and does not require the resolution of a nonlinear problem at each time step. Using a martingale approach, we prove the convergence in law of the scheme up to a subsequence.

Soliton dynamics for the Korteweg-de Vries equation with multiplicative homogeneous noise

We consider a randomly perturbed Korteweg-de Vries equation. The perturbation is a random potential depending both on space and time, with a white noise behavior in time, and a regular, but stationary behavior in space. We investigate the dynamics of the soliton of the KdV equation in the presence of this random perturbation, assuming that the amplitude of the perturbation is small. We estimate precisely the exit time of the perturbed solution from a neighborhood of the modulated soliton, and we obtain the modulation equations for the soliton parameters. We moreover prove a central limit theorem for the dispersive part of the solution, and investigate the asymptotic behavior in time of the limit process.

Exit problems related to the persistence of solitons for the Korteweg-de Vries equation with small noise

We consider two exit problems for the Korteweg-de Vries equation perturbed by an additive white in time and colored in space noise of amplitude a. The initial datum gives rise to a soliton when a=0. It has been proved recently that the solution remains in a neighborhood of a randomly modulated soliton for times at least of the order of a^{-2}. We prove exponential upper and lower bounds for the small noise limit of the probability that the exit time from a neighborhood of this randomly modulated soliton is less than T, of the same order in a and T. We obtain that the time scale is exactly the right one. We also study the similar probability for the exit from a neighborhood of the deterministic soliton solution. We are able to quantify the gain of eliminating the secular modes to better describe the persistence of the soliton.
