Existence and stability of a periodic solution of a general difference equation with applications to neural networks with a delay in the leakage terms

In this paper, a new global exponential stability criterion is obtained for a general multidimensional delay difference equation using induction arguments. In the cases that the difference equation is periodic, we prove the existence of a periodic solution by constructing a type of Poincaré map. The results are used to obtain stability criteria for a general discrete-time neural network model with a delay in the leakage terms. As particular cases, we obtain new stability criteria for neural network models recently studied in the literature, in particular for low-order and high-order Hopfield and Bidirectional Associative Memory(BAM).

Integral conditions for nonuniform $μ$-dichotomy on the half-line

We give necessary integral conditions and sufficient ones for the existence of a general concept of $μ$-dichotomy for evolution operators defined on the half-line which includes as particular cases the well-known concepts of nonuniform exponential dichotomy and nonuniform polynomial dichotomy, and also contains new situations. Additionally, we consider an adapted notion of Lyapunov function and use our results to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of nonuniform $μ$-dichotomies using these Lyapunov functions.

Global Lipschitz Invariant Center Manifolds for ODEs with Generalized Trichotomies

In a Banach space, assuming that a linear nonautonomous differential equation $v'=A(t)v$ admits a very general type of trichotomy, we establish conditions for the existence of global Lipschitz invariant center manifold of the perturbed equation $v'=A(t)v+f(t,v)$. Our results not only improve results already existing in the literature, as well include new cases.

Nonuniform behavior and stability of Hopfield neural networks with delay

We obtain a result on the behavior of the solutions of a general nonautonomous Hopfield neural network model with delay, assuming some general bound for the product of consecutive terms in the sequence of neuron charging times and some conditions to control the nonlinear part of the equations. We then apply this result to improve some existent results on the stability of Hopfield models. Our results are based on a new abstract result on the behavior of nonautonomous delayed equations.

Generalized nonuniform dichotomies and local stable manifolds

We establish the existence of local stable manifolds for semiflows generated by nonlinear perturbations of nonautonomous ordinary linear differential equations in Banach spaces, assuming the existence of a general type of nonuniform dichotomy for the evolution operator that contains the nonuniform exponential and polynomial dichotomies as a very particular case. The family of dichotomies considered allow situations for which the classical Lyapunov exponents are zero. Additionally, we give new examples of application of our stable manifold theorem and study the behavior of the dynamics under perturbations.

Nonuniform dichotomic behavior: Lipschitz invariant manifolds for ODEs

We obtain global and local theorems on the existence of invariant manifolds for perturbations of non autonomous linear differential equations assuming a very general form of dichotomic behavior for the linear equation. Besides some new situations that are far from the hyperbolic setting, our results include, and sometimes improve, some known stable manifold theorems.

Robusteness of discrete nonuniform dichotomic behavior

For nonautonomous linear difference equations in Banach spaces we show that a very general type of dichotomic behavior persists under small enough additive linear perturbations. By using a new approach, we obtain two general robustness theorems that improve several results in the literature and also contain new situations. In particular, unlike several existent results for particular growth rates, we show that, up to a multiplicative constant, the dichotomic behavior for the perturbed equation is the same as the one for the original equation.

Nonuniform dichotomic behavior: Lipschitz invariant manifolds for difference equations

We obtain global and local theorems on the existence of invariant manifolds for perturbations of non autonomous linear difference equations assuming a very general form of dichotomic behavior for the linear equation. The results obtained include situations where the behavior is far from hyperbolic. We also give several new examples and show that our result includes as particular cases several previous theorems.

Nonuniform $(μ,ν)$-dichotomies and local dynamics of difference equations

We obtain a local stable manifold theorem for perturbations of nonautonomous linear difference equations possessing a very general type of nonuniform dichotomy, possibly with different growth rates in the uniform and nonuniform parts. We note that we consider situations were the classical Lyapunov exponents can be zero. Additionally, we study how the manifolds decay along the orbit of a point as well as the behavior under perturbations and give examples of nonautonomous linear difference equations that admit the dichotomies considered.

Nonautonomous equations, generalized dichotomies and stable manifolds

Assuming the existence of a general nonuniform dichotomy for the evolution operator of a non-autonomous ordinary linear differential equation in a Banach space, we establish the existence of invariant stable manifolds for the semiflow generated by sufficiently small nonlinear perturbations of the linear equation. The family of dichotomies considered satisfies a general growth rate given by some increasing differentiable function, allows situations for which the classical Lyapunov exponents are zero, and contains the nonuniform exponential dichotomies as a very particular case. In addition we also give explicit examples of linear equations that admit all the possible considered dichotomies.
