Form factors of $\mathscr{N}=4$ self-dual Yang-Mills from the chiral algebra bootstrap

The chiral algebra bootstrap (CAB) is a novel bootstrap program for form factors in quantum-integrable self-dual gauge theories, some of which in turn are helicity amplitudes in the corresponding gauge theories. The singularities that recursively generate a given (loop-level) form factor are holomorphic collinear splitting functions, equivalently celestial chiral algebra OPEs, of the self-dual theory. In this note, we apply the chiral algebra bootstrap to the simple example of self-dual 4d $\mathscr{N}=4$ super Yang-Mills (SDSYM). We use a combination of twistor space input, Koszul duality, supersymmetry, and associativity to obtain the all-loop holomorphic collinear splitting functions for SDSYM. We also use associativity to provide a simple proof of the conjecture that there are no double-poles in the loop-level OPEs for this theory. We conclude by computing several form factors, including both a reproduction of several known results and novel form factors up to two loops involving insertions of powers of the anti-self-dual field strength. These form factors compute a supersymmetric version of Higgs amplitudes in the self-dual sector. Detailed sample computations are provided to familiarize the reader with the CAB method.

Two-loop QCD Amplitudes from the Chiral Algebra Bootstrap

We show that the chiral algebra bootstrap, which computes form factors of twistorial theories, can help determine two-loop amplitudes in massless QCD. We give an $n$-gluon result for a previously unknown partial amplitude of the two-loop all-plus-helicity QCD amplitude by utilizing supersymmetry Ward identities and known chiral algebra bootstrap results. We then show that the full-color two-loop $n$-gluon amplitude of QCD with $n_f$ quark flavors can be obtained from certain two-loop form factors of twistorial theories and one-loop and tree-level amplitudes. Chiral algebra bootstrap results exist for these form factors when all gluons have positive helicities. Hence, the bootstrap simplifies the computation of these two-loop amplitudes by one loop level.

Rational QCD loop amplitudes and quantum theories on twistor space

We show how curing an anomaly of the twistor uplift of self-dual Yang-Mills theory implies linear relations among one-loop, $n$-gluon, color-ordered subamplitudes in QCD, when all $n$ gluon helicities are positive, or when exactly one is negative. We compute the number of linearly independent subamplitudes as determined by these relations, in terms of unsigned Stirling numbers. Then we use a momentum-twistor parametrization to show that there are no further linear dependencies.

On gauge amplitudes first appearing at two loops

We study scattering amplitudes in massless non-abelian gauge theory where all outgoing gluons have positive helicity. It has been argued recently by Costello that for a particular fermion representation (8 fundamentals plus one antisymmetric-tensor representation in $SU(N)$) the one-loop amplitudes vanish identically. We show that this vanishing leads to previously-observed identities among one-loop color-ordered partial amplitudes. We then turn to two loops, where Costello has computed the all-plus amplitudes for this theory, as rational functions of the kinematics for any number of gluons using the celestial chiral algebra (CCA) bootstrap. We show that in dimensional regularization, these two-loop amplitudes are not rational, and they are not even finite as $\epsilon\to0$. However, the finite remainder for four gluons agrees with the formula by Costello. In addition, we provide a mass regulator for the infrared-divergent loop integrals; with this regulator, the CCA bootstrap formula is recovered exactly. Finally, we use the CCA bootstrap to compute the double-trace terms in the theory at two loops for an arbitrary number of gluons.
