Quantification of limit theorems for Hawkes processes

In this article, we fill a gap in the literature regarding quantitative functional central limit theorems (qfCLT) for Hawkes processes by providing an upper bound for the convergence of a nearly unstable Hawkes process toward a Cox-Ingersoll-Ross (CIR) process. Note that in this case no speed of convergence has been established even for one-dimensional marginals; we provide in this paper a control in terms of a supremum norm in $2$-Wasserstein distance. To do so, we make use of the so-called Poisson imbedding representation and provide a qfCLT formulation in terms of a Brownian sheet. Incidentally, we construct an optimal coupling between a rescaled bi-dimensional Poisson random measure and a Brownian sheet with respect to the $2$-Wasserstein distance and analyze the asymptotic quality of this coupling in detail.

Normal approximation of Functionals of Point Processes: Application to Hawkes Processes

In this paper, we derive an explicit upper bound for the Wasserstein distance between a functional of point processes and a Gaussian distribution. Using Stein's method in conjunction with Malliavin's calculus and the Poisson embedding representation, our result applies to a variety of point processes including discrete and continuous Hawkes processes. In particular, we establish an explicit convergence rate for stable continuous non-linear Hawkes processes and for discrete Hawkes processes. Finally, we obtain an upper bound in the context of nearly unstable Hawkes processes.

Multivariate Self-Exciting Processes with Dependencies

This paper introduces the class of multidimensional self-exciting processes with dependencies (MSPD), which is a unifying writing for a large class of processes: counting, loss, intensity, and also shifted processes. The framework takes into account dynamic dependencies between the frequency and the severity components of the risk, and therefore induces theoretical challenges in the computations of risk valuations. We present a general method for calculating different quantities related to these MSPDs, which combines the Poisson imbedding, the pseudo-chaotic expansion and Malliavin calculus. The methodology is illustrated for the computation of explicit general correlation formula.

Poisson imbedding meets the Clark-Ocone formula

In this paper we develop a representation formula of Clark-Ocone type for any integrable Poisson functionals, which extends the Poisson imbedding for point processes. This representation formula differs from the classical Clark-Ocone formula on three accounts. First the representation holds with respect to the Poisson measure instead of the compensated one; second the representation holds true in L1 and not in L2; and finally contrary to the classical Clark-Ocone formula the integrand is defined as a pathwise operator and not as a L2-limiting object. We make use of Malliavin's calculus and of the pseudo-chaotic decomposition with uncompensated iteraded integrals to establish this Pseudo-Clark-Ocone representation formula and to characterize the integrand, which turns out to be a predictable integrable process.

Analysis of the Risk-Sharing Principal-Agent problem through the Reverse-H{ö}lder inequality

In this paper we provide an alternative framework to tackle the first-best Principal-Agent problem under CARA utilities. This framework leads to both a proof of existence and uniqueness of the solution to the Risk-Sharing problem under very general assumptions on the underlying contract space. Our analysis relies on an optimal decomposition of the expected utility of the Principal in terms of the reservation utility of the Agent and works both in a discrete time and continuous time setting. As a by-product this approach provides a novel way of characterizing the optimal contract in the CARA setting, which is as an alternative to the widely used Lagrangian method, and some analysis of the optimum.

On a stochastic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality with application to Strichartz estimates for the white noise dispersion

In this paper, we investigate a stochastic Hardy-Littlewood-Sobolev inequality. Due to the stochastic nature of the inequality, the relation between the exponents of intgrability is modified. This modification can be understood as a regularization by noise phenomenon. As a direct application, we derive Strichartz estimates for the white noise dispersion which enables us to address a conjecture from [3].

Pricing formulae for derivatives in insurance using the Malliavin calculus

In this paper we provide a valuation formula for different classes of actuarial and financial contracts which depend on a general loss process, by using the Malliavin calculus. In analogy with the celebrated Black-Scholes formula, we aim at expressing the expected cash flow in terms of a building block. The former is related to the loss process which is a cumulated sum indexed by a doubly stochastic Poisson process of claims allowed to be dependent on the intensity and the jump times of the counting process. For example, in the context of Stop-Loss contracts the building block is given by the distribution function of the terminal cumulated loss, taken at the Value at Risk when computing the Expected Shortfall risk measure.

Functional limit theorems for generalized variations of the fractional Brownian sheet

We prove functional central and non-central limit theorems for generalized variations of the anisotropic $d$-parameter fractional Brownian sheet (fBs) for any natural number $d$. Whether the central or the non-central limit theorem applies depends on the Hermite rank of the variation functional and on the smallest component of the Hurst parameter vector of the fBs. The limiting process in the former result is another fBs, independent of the original fBs, whereas the limit given by the latter result is an Hermite sheet, which is driven by the same white noise as the original fBs. As an application, we derive functional limit theorems for power variations of the fBs and discuss what is a proper way to interpolate them to ensure functional convergence.

Stochastic regularization effects of semi-martingales on random functions

In this paper we address an open question formulated in [17]. That is, we extend the It{ô}-Tanaka trick, which links the time-average of a deterministic function f depending on a stochastic process X and F the solution of the Fokker-Planck equation associated to X, to random mappings f. To this end we provide new results on a class of adpated and non-adapted Fokker-Planck SPDEs and BSPDEs.

On the Malliavin differentiability of BSDEs

In this paper we provide new conditions for the Malliavin differentiability of solutions of Lipschitz or quadratic BSDEs. Our results rely on the interpretation of the Malliavin derivative as a G{â}teaux derivative in the directions of the Cameron-Martin space. Incidentally, we provide a new formulation for the characterization of the Malliavin-Sobolev type spaces $D^{1,p}$ .

Utility maximization with random horizon: a BSDE approach

In this paper we study a utility maximization problem with random horizon and reduce it to the analysis of a specific BSDE, which we call BSDE with singular coefficients, when the support of the default time is assumed to be bounded. We prove existence and uniqueness of the solution for the equation under interest. Our results are illustrated by numerical simulations.

Density analysis of BSDEs

In this paper, we study the existence of densities (with respect to the Lebesgue measure) for marginal laws of the solution $(Y,Z)$ to a quadratic growth BSDE. Using the (by now) well-established connection between these equations and their associated semi-linear PDEs, together with the Nourdin-Viens formula, we provide estimates on these densities.

A note on the Malliavin-Sobolev spaces

In this paper, we provide a strong formulation of the stochastic G{â}teaux differentiability in order to study the sharpness of a new characterization, introduced in [6], of the Malliavin-Sobolev spaces. We also give a new internal structure of these spaces in the sense of sets inclusion.

BSDEs with weak terminal condition

We introduce a new class of Backward Stochastic Differential Equations in which the $T$-terminal value $Y_{T}$ of the solution $(Y,Z)$ is not fixed as a random variable, but only satisfies a weak constraint of the form $E[Ψ(Y_{T})]\ge m$, for some (possibly random) non-decreasing map $Ψ$ and some threshold $m$. We name them \textit{BSDEs with weak terminal condition} and obtain a representation of the minimal time $t$-values $Y_{t}$ such that $(Y,Z)$ is a supersolution of the BSDE with weak terminal condition. It provides a non-Markovian BSDE formulation of the PDE characterization obtained for Markovian stochastic target problems under controlled loss in Bouchard, Elie and Touzi \cite{BoElTo09}. We then study the main properties of this minimal value. In particular, we analyze its continuity and convexity with respect to the $m$-parameter appearing in the weak terminal condition, and show how it can be related to a dual optimal control problem in Meyer form. These last properties generalize to a non Markovian framework previous results on quantile hedging and hedging under loss constraints obtained in Föllmer and Leukert \cite{FoLe99,FoLe00}, and in Bouchard, Elie and Touzi \cite{BoElTo09}.

CRRA Utility Maximization under Risk Constraints

This paper studies the problem of optimal investment with CRRA (constant, relative risk aversion) preferences, subject to dynamic risk constraints on trading strategies. The market model considered is continuous in time and incomplete. the prices of financial assets are modeled by Itô processes. The dynamic risk constraints, which are time and state dependent, are generated by risk measures. Optimal trading strategies are characterized by a quadratic BSDE. Within the class of \textit{time consistent distortion risk measures}, a three-fund separation result is established. Numerical results emphasize the effects of imposing risk constraints on trading.

Differentiability of quadratic BSDEs generated by continuous martingales

In this paper we consider a class of BSDEs with drivers of quadratic growth, on a stochastic basis generated by continuous local martingales. We first derive the Markov property of a forward--backward system (FBSDE) if the generating martingale is a strong Markov process. Then we establish the differentiability of a FBSDE with respect to the initial value of its forward component. This enables us to obtain the main result of this article, namely a representation formula for the control component of its solution. The latter is relevant in the context of securitization of random liabilities arising from exogenous risk, which are optimally hedged by investment in a given financial market with respect to exponential preferences. In a purely stochastic formulation, the control process of the backward component of the FBSDE steers the system into the random liability and describes its optimal derivative hedge by investment in the capital market, the dynamics of which is given by the forward component.

Forward-backward systems for expected utility maximization

In this paper we deal with the utility maximization problem with a general utility function. We derive a new approach in which we reduce the utility maximization problem with general utility to the study of a fully-coupled Forward-Backward Stochastic Differential Equation (FBSDE).
