Topological adelic curves: Zariski-Riemann spaces, algebraic coverings, Harder-Narsimhan filtrations and heights

In this article, we introduce topological adelic curves. Roughly speaking, a topological adelic curve is a topological space of (generalised) absolute values on a given field satisfying a product formula. Topological adelic curves are the topological counterpart to adelic curves introduced by Chen and Moriwaki. They aim at handling Arakelov geometry over possibly uncountable fields and give further ideas in the formalisation of the analogy between Diophantine approximation and Nevanlinna theory. Using the notion of pseudo-absolute values developed in arXiv:2411.03905, we prove several fundamental properties of topological adelic curves: algebraic coverings, existence of Harder-Narasimhan filtrations and of volume functions. We also define heights of cycles and give a generalisation of Nevanlinna's first main theorem in this framework. Another important feature of topological adelic curves is that they come equipped with Zariski-Riemann type spaces that admit a natural locally ringed space structure and usual Arakelov theoretic objects (e.g. adelic vector bundles) admit a natural interpretation in terms of metrised objects on these Zariski-Riemann spaces.

Pseudo-absolute values: foundations

In this article, we introduce pseudo-absolute values, which generalise usual absolute values. Roughly speaking, a pseudo-absolute value on a field $K$ is a map $|\cdot| : K \to [0,+\infty]$ satisfying axioms similar to those of usual absolute values. This notion allows to include "pathological" absolute values one can encounter trying to incorporate the analogy between Diophantine approximation and Nevanlinna theory in an Arakelov theoretic framework. It turns out that the space of all pseudo-absolute values can be endowed with a compact Hausdorff topology in a similar way as the Berkovich analytic spectrum of a Banach ring. Moreover, we introduce both local and global notions of analytic spaces over pseudo-valued fields and interpret them as analytic counterparts to Zariski-Riemann spaces.

Differentiability of the $χ$-volume function over an adelic curve

In this article, we show a differentiability property for the $χ$-volume function on the ample cone of adelic line bundles over an adelic curve. This result is deduced from a non-Archimedean counterpart of a diffrentiability result of Witt Nyström. As an application, we give a logarithmic equidistribution result over adelic curves.

On the density of sets of the Euclidean plane avoiding distance 1

A subset $A \subset \mathbb R^2$ is said to avoid distance $1$ if: $\forall x,y \in A, \left\| x-y \right\|_2 \neq 1.$ In this paper we study the number $m_1(\mathbb R^2)$ which is the supremum of the upper densities of measurable sets avoiding distance 1 in the Euclidean plane. Intuitively, $m_1(\mathbb R^2)$ represents the highest proportion of the plane that can be filled by a set avoiding distance 1. This parameter is related to the fractional chromatic number $χ_f(\mathbb R^2)$ of the plane. We establish that $m_1(\mathbb R^2) \leq 0.25647$ and $χ_f(\mathbb R^2) \geq 3.8991$.
