Flexibility of affine spherical varieties

We prove that the automorphism group $\mathrm{Aut}(X)$ of an affine spherical variety $X$ acts transitively on the set of smooth points $X^{reg}.$ If every invertible regular function on $X$ is constant, we prove that $X$ is flexible, i.e., the subgroup of $\mathrm{Aut}(X)$ generated by all $\mathbb{G}_a$-subgroups acts transitively on $X^{reg}.$

Additive actions on projective hypersurfaces with a finite number of orbits

An induced additive action on a projective variety $X \subseteq \mathbb{P}^n$ is a regular action of the group $\mathbb{G}_a^m$ on $X$ with an open orbit, which can be extended to a regular action on the ambient projective space $\mathbb{P}^n$. In this work, we classify all projective hypersurfaces admitting an induced additive action with a finite number of orbits.

Limit points of one-parameter subgroups for additive actions on hypersurfaces

By an additive action on an algebraic variety $X$ over $\mathbb{C}$, we mean an action of the group $\mathbb{G}_a^n = \mathbb{C}^n $ on $X$ with an open orbit. We study limit points of one-dimensional subgroups of $\mathbb{G}_a^n$ for additive actions on projective hypersurfaces. We say that an additive action on $X$ satisfies the OP-condition if for every point $x\in X $ that does not lie in the open orbit $O$ there is a point $y \in O$ and a vector $v \in \mathbb{G}_a^n$ such that $ \lim_{t\to\infty} tv\circ y = x$. We find all projective hypersurfaces on which there is an additive action satisfying the OP-condition.

Modified Derksen invariant

Modified Derksen invariant HD*(X) of an affine variety X is a subalgebra in K[X] generated by kernels of all locally nilpotent derivations of K[X] with slices. If there is a locally nilpotent derivation of K[X] with a slice then X is a product of Y and a line, where Y is an affine variety. We prove that there are three possibilities: A) HD*(X) = K[X]; B) HD*(X) is a proper infintely generated subalgebra; C) HD*(X) = \BK[Y]. We give examples for each case, and also provide sufficient conditions for the variety Y so that the variety X belongs to one of the type.

On the automorphism group of a toral variety

Let $\mathbb{K}$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. An affine algebraic variety $X$ over $\mathbb{K}$ is toral if it is isomorphic to a closed subvariety of a torus $(\mathbb{K}^*)^d$. We study the group $\mathrm{Aut}(X)$ of regular automorpshims of a toral variety $X$. We prove that if $T$ is a maximal torus in $\mathrm{Aut}(X)$, then $X$ is a direct product $Y\times T$, where $Y$ is a toral variety with a trivial maximal torus in the automorphism group. We show that knowing $\mathrm{Aut}(Y)$, one can compute $\mathrm{Aut}(X)$. In the case when the rank of the group $\mathbb{K}[Y]^*/\mathbb{K}^*$ is $\dim Y + 1$, the group $\mathrm{Aut}(Y)$ can be described explicitly.

Rigid Trinomial Varieties

An algebraic variety $X$ is called rigid if there is no non-trivial action on $X$ of the additive group of the base field. A trinomial variety is an affine variety that is given by a set of equations consisting of polynomials with three monomials; see Definition 1. In this paper, we complete the classification of rigid trinomial varieties.

Modified Makar-Limanov and Derksen invariants

We investigate modified Makar-Limanov and Derksen invariants of an affine algebraic variety. The modified Makar-Limanov invariant is the intersection of kernels of all locally nilpotent derivations with slices and the modified Derksen invariant is the subalgebra generated by these kernels. We prove that modified Makar-Limanov invariant coincide with Makar-Limanov invariant if there exists a locally nilpotent derivation with a slice. Also we construct an example of a variety admitting a locally nilpotent derivation with a slice such that modified Derksen invariant does not coincide with Derksen invariant.

Euler-symmetric projective toric varieties and additive actions

Let $\mathbb{G}_a$ be the additive group of the field of complex numbers $\mathbb{C}$. We say that an irreducible algebraic variety $X$ of dimension $n$ admits an additive action if there is a regular action of the group $\mathbb{G}_a^n = \mathbb{G}_a \times \ldots \times \mathbb{G}_a$ ($n$ times) on $X$ with an open orbit. In 2017 Baohua Fu and Jun-Muk Hwang introduced a class of Euler-symmetric varieties. They gave a classification of Euler-symmetric varieties and proved that any Euler-symmetric variety admits an additive action. In this paper we show that in the case of projective toric varieites the converse is also true. More precisely, a projective toric variety admitting an additive action is an Euler-symmetric variety with respect to any linearly normal embedding into a projective space. Also we discuss some properties of Euler-symmetric projective toric varieties.

On orbits of automorphism groups on horospherical varieties

In this paper we describe orbits of automorphism group on a horospherical variety in terms of degrees of homogeneous with respect to natural grading locally nilpotent derivations. In case of (may be non-normal) toric varieties a description of orbits of automorphism group in terms of corresponding weight monoid is obtained.

Additive actions on toric projective hypersurfaces

Let $\mathbb{K}$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero and $\mathbb{G}_a$ be the additive group of $\mathbb{K}$. We say that an irreducible algebraic variety $X$ of dimension $n$ over the field $\mathbb{K}$ admits an additive action if there is a regular action of the group $\mathbb{G}_a^n = \mathbb{G}_a \times \ldots \times \mathbb{G}_a$ ($n$ times) on $X$ with an open orbit. In this paper we find all projective toric hypersurfaces admitting additive action.

Flexibility of normal affine horospherical varieties

We investigate flexibility of affine varieties with an action of a linear algebraic group. Flexibility of a smooth affine variety with only constant invertible functions and a locally transitive action of a reductive group is proved. Also we show that a normal affine complexity-zero horospherical variety is flexible.
