Virtual Lie subgroups of locally compact groups

We examine subgroups of locally compact groups that are continuous homomorphic images of connected Lie groups and we give a criterion for being such an image. We also provide a new characterisation of Lie groups and a characterisation of groups that are images of connected locally compact groups.

A generalization of the Open Mapping Theorem and a possible generalization of the Baire Category Theorem

We characterize continuum as the smallest cardinality of a family of compact sets needed to cover a locally compact group for which the Open Mapping Theorem does not hold.
