Analytic expressions for grey-body factors of the general parametrized spherically symmetric black holes

In light of the recently discovered connection between grey-body factors and quasinormal ringing, we derive analytic expressions for the grey-body factors of generic parametrized spherically symmetric and asymptotically flat black holes. These expressions are presented as expansions in terms of the inverse multipole number and the coefficients of the parametrization. The obtained analytic formulas serve as good approximations whenever the deviation from the Schwarzschild geometry is not very large. We demonstrate that the primary parameter determining the grey-body factors is the deviation of the event horizon radius from its Schwarzschild value, while the higher-order coefficients of the parametrization, which govern the near-horizon geometry, are much less significant. This finding is consistent with recent observations that grey-body factors are considerably more stable against small deformations of the near-horizon geometry than quasinormal modes.

Exploring Unique Quasinormal Modes of a Massive Scalar Field in Brane-World Scenarios

We compute precise values of quasinormal modes of a massive scalar field in the background of the Schwarzschild-like brane-localised black holes. It is shown that the quasinormal spectrum of the massive field differs qualitatively from that previously known for other black hole models, due to the presence of two kinds of modes: those whose damping rate vanishes as the mass of the field $μ$ increases up to some critical value, and those whose real oscillation frequency vanishes at a certain value of $μ$. While the first type of modes, which are arbitrarily long-lived, are recognized in various four-dimensional backgrounds as quasi-resonances, the second type is a novel feature for asymptotically flat black holes. When $Re (ω)$ reaches zero, the fundamental mode disappears from the spectrum and the first overtone becomes the fundamental mode. We also demonstrate that quasi-resonances may not exist for brane-localised black holes immersed in $D\geq 6$ - dimensional bulk.

Grey-body factors and Hawking radiation of black holes in $4D$ Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet gravity

The $(3+1)$-dimensional Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet theory of gravity which breaks the Lorentz invariance in a theoretically consistent and observationally viable way has been recently suggested by Aoki, Gorji and Mukohyama [arXiv:2005.03859]. Here we calculate grey-body factor for Dirac, electromagnetic and gravitational fields and estimate the intensity of Hawking radiation and lifetime for asymptotically flat black holes in this theory. Positive coupling constant leads to much smaller evaporation rate and longer life-time of a black hole, while the negative one enhances Hawking radiation. The grey-body factors for electromagnetic and Dirac fields are smaller for larger values of the coupling constant.
