Integrability of Hamiltonian systems on COLCS Manifold

We develop an integrability framework for Hamiltonian dynamics on \emph{con-locally conformal symplectic} (COLCS) manifolds, odd-dimensional quadruples $(M,Ω,θ,η)$ where $dΩ=θ\wedgeΩ$, a closed $1$-form $η$ determines a codimension-one distribution on which $Ω$ is non-degenerate, and $R$ is the Reeb vector field satisfying $ι_RΩ=ι_Rθ=0$, $ι_Rη=1$. This class simultaneously generalises LCS and cosymplectic manifolds and provides a natural arena for time-dependent Hamiltonian systems with twisted differential $d^θ=d-θ\wedge$. The COLCS bracket is introduced on $C^\infty(M)$ and shown to be a Lie bracket that induces Poisson structures on the subalgebras of $θ$-strong ($θ(X_H)=0$) and $R$-strong ($R(H)=0$) functions. A Lie-type integrability theorem is then established: given $2n-k$ functionally independent first integrals with $k$ of them $θ$-strong and generating a solvable Lie algebra under the COLCS bracket, the flow is integrable by quadratures on the common level set. Finally, scaling symmetries of degree $(Λ,β,γ)$, defined by $L_XΩ=βΩ$, $L_XH=ΛH$, $L_Xη=γη$, are studied: they rescale $X_H$ by $(Λ-β)$, generate families of first integrals, and imply structural primitives for $Ω$ and $η$.

A $\mathcal C^\infty$-structure-based approach to traveling wave solutions of the gKdV equation

A novel geometric method is applied to the problem of describing traveling wave solutions of the generalized Korteweg--de Vries (gKdV) equation in the form $$ u_t + u_{xxx} + a(u)u_x = 0, $$ where $a(u)$ is a smooth function characterizing the nonlinearity. Using the traveling wave ansatz, the gKdV equation reduces to an ordinary differential equation (ODE), which we analyze via the $\mathcal{C}^\infty$-structure-based method, a geometric framework involving sequences of involutive distributions and Pfaffian equations. Starting with the symmetry $\partial_z$, we construct a $\mathcal{C}^\infty$-structure for the ODE and apply the stepwise integration algorithm to obtain an implicit general solution. Then we derive explicit solutions for specific forms of $a(u)$, including the modified KdV and Schamel--KdV equations, as well as power-law nonlinearities.

Surfaces associated with first-order ODEs

A link between first-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and 2-dimensional Riemannian manifolds is explored. Given a first-order ODE, an associated Riemannian metric on the variable space is defined, and some properties of the resulting surface are studied, including a connection between Jacobi fields and Lie point symmetries. In particular, it is proven that if the associated surface is flat, then the ODE can be integrated by quadratures. Next, deformations of the associated surfaces are considered. A relation between some Jacobi fields on the deformed surface and integrability of the ODE is established, showing that there is a class of vector fields, beyond Lie point symmetries, which are useful for solving first-order ODEs. As a result, it is concluded that the deformation into a constant curvature surface leads to the integrability of the given ODE.

Autonomous second-order ODEs: a geometric approach

Given an autonomous second-order ordinary differential equation (ODE), we define a Riemannian metric on an open subset of the first-order jet bundle. A relationship is established between the solutions of the ODE and the geodesic curves with respect to the defined metric. We introduce the notion of energy foliation for autonomous ODEs, and highlight its connection to the classical energy concept. Additionally, we explore the geometry of the leaves of the foliation. Finally, the results are applied to the analysis of Lagrangian mechanical systems. In particular, we provide an autonomous Lagrangian for the damped harmonic oscillator.

Integrable (3+1)-dimensional generalization for dispersionless Davey--Stewartson system

This paper introduces a (3+1)-dimensional dispersionless integrable system, utilizing a Lax pair involving contact vector fields, in alignment with methodologies presented by A. Sergyeyev in 2018. Significantly, it is shown that the proposed system serves as an integrable (3+1)-dimensional generalization of the well-studied (2+1)-dimensional dispersionless Davey-Stewartson system. This way, an interesting new example on integrability in higher dimensions is presented, with potential applications in modern mathematical physics. The work lays the foundation for future research into symmetries, conservation laws, and Hamiltonian structures, offering avenues for further exploration.

On the singular scheme of codimension one holomorphic foliations in P^3

In this work, we begin by showing that a holomorphic foliation with singularities is reduced if and only if its normal sheaf is torsion free. In addition, when the codimension of the singular locus is at least two, it is shown that being reduced is equivalent to the reflexivity of the tangent sheaf. Our main results state on one hand, that the tangent sheaf of a codimension one foliation in P^3 is locally free if and only the singular scheme is a curve, and that it splits if and only if that curve is arithmetically Cohen-Macaulay. On the other hand, we discuss when a split foliation in P^3 is determined by its singular scheme.
