Dimension of self-affine sets for fixed translation vectors

An affine iterated function system is a finite collection of affine invertible contractions and the invariant set associated to the mappings is called self-affine. In 1988, Falconer proved that, for given matrices, the Hausdorff dimension of the self-affine set is the affinity dimension for Lebesgue almost every translation vectors. Similar statement was proven by Jordan, Pollicott, and Simon in 2007 for the dimension of self-affine measures. In this article, we have an orthogonal approach. We introduce a class of self-affine systems in which, given translation vectors, we get the same results for Lebesgue almost all matrices. The proofs rely on Ledrappier-Young theory that was recently verified for affine iterated function systems by Bárány and Käenmäki, and a new transversality condition, and in particular they do not depend on properties of the Furstenberg measure. This allows our results to hold for self-affine sets and measures in any Euclidean space.

Self-affine sets with fibered tangents

We study tangent sets of strictly self-affine sets in the plane. If a set in this class satisfies the strong separation condition and projects to a line segment for sufficiently many directions, then for each generic point there exists a rotation $\mathcal O$ such that all tangent sets at that point are either of the form $\mathcal O((\mathbb R \times C) \cap B(0,1))$, where $C$ is a closed porous set, or of the form $\mathcal O((\ell \times \{ 0 \}) \cap B(0,1))$, where $\ell$ is an interval.

Equilibrium states of the pressure function for products of matrices

Let $\{M_i\}_{i=1}^\ell$ be a non-trivial family of $d\times d$ complex matrices, in the sense that for any $n\in \N$, there exists $i_1... i_n\in \{1,..., \ell\}^n$ such that $M_{i_1}... M_{i_n}\neq {\bf 0}$. Let $P \colon (0,\infty)\to \R$ be the pressure function of $\{M_i\}_{i=1}^\ell$. We show that for each $q>0$, there are at most $d$ ergodic $q$-equilibrium states of $P$, and each of them satisfies certain Gibbs property.

Overlapping self-affine sets of Kakeya type

We compute the Minkowski dimension for a family of self-affine sets on the plane. Our result holds for every (rather than generic) set in the class. Moreover, we exhibit explicit open subsets of this class where we allow overlapping, and do not impose any conditions on the norms of the linear maps. The family under consideration was inspired by the theory of Kakeya sets.
