Physical realization of realignment criteria using structural physical approximation

Entanglement detection is an important problem in quantum information theory because quantum entanglement is a key resource in quantum information processing. Realignment criteria is a powerful tool for detection of entangled states in bipartite and multipartite quantum system. It is an important criteria for entanglement detection because it works well; not only for negative partial transpose entangled states (NPTES) but also for positive partial transpose entangled states (PPTES). Since the matrix corresponding to realignment map is indefinite so the experimental implementation of the map is an obscure task. In this work, firstly, we have approximated the realignment map to a positive map using the method of structural physical approximation (SPA) and then we have shown that the structural physical approximation of realignment map (SPA-R) is completely positive. Positivity of the constructed map is characterized using moments which can be physically measured. Next, we develop a separability criterion based on our SPA-R map in the form of an inequality and have shown that the developed criterion not only detect NPTES but also PPTES. We have provided some examples to support the results obtained. Moreover, we have analysed the error that may occur because of approximating the realignment map.

Detection and Classification of Bipartite and Multipartite Entangled States

The detection and classification of entanglement properties in a two-qubit and a multi-qubit system is a topic of great interest. This topic has been extensively studied, and as a result, we discovered various approaches for detecting and classifying multi-qubit, in particular three-qubit entangled states. The emphasis of this work is on a formalism of methods for the detection and classification of bipartite as well as multipartite quantum systems. We have used the method of structural physical approximation of partially transposed matrix (SPA-PT) for the detection of entangled states in arbitrary dimensional bipartite quantum systems. Also, we have proposed criteria for the classification of all possible stochastic local operations and classical communication (SLOCC) inequivalent classes of a pure and mixed three-qubit state using the SPA-PT map. To quantify entanglement, we have defined a new measure of entanglement based on the method of SPA-PT, which we named as "structured negativity". We have shown that this measure can be used to quantify entanglement for negative partial transposed entangled states (NPTES). Since the methods for detection, classification and quantification of entanglement, defined in this thesis are based on SPA-PT, they may be realized in an experiment.

Detection and Classification of Three-qubit States Using $l_{1}$ Norm of Coherence

Entanglement is a purely quantum mechanical phenomenon and thus it has no classical analog. On the other hand, coherence is a well-known phenomenon in classical optics and in quantum mechanics. Recent research shows that quantum coherence may act as a useful resource in quantum information theory. We will employ here quantum coherence to detect and classify the entanglement property of three-qubit states. Moreover, we have shown that if any three-qubit state violates another necessary condition for the detection of a general biseparable state then the given three-qubit state cannot be a biseparable state. Since there are only three categories of states for the three-qubit system so if we detect that the state under probe is neither a separable nor a biseparable state then we can definitely conclude that the given three-qubit state is a genuine entangled state. We have illustrated our results with a few examples.

Structured Negativity: A physically realizable measure of entanglement based on structural physical approximation

Quantification of entanglement is one of the most important problem in quantum information theory. In this work, we will study this problem by defining a physically realizable measure of entanglement for any arbitrary dimensional bipartite system $ρ$, which we named as structured negativity $(N_S(ρ))$. We have shown that the introduced measure satisfies the properties of a valid entanglement monotone. We also have established an inequality that relate negativity and the structured negativity. For $d\otimes d$ dimensional state, we conjecture from the result obtained in this work that negativity coincide with the structured negativity when the number of negative eigenvalues of the partially transposed matrix is equal to $\frac{d(d-1)}{2}$. Moreover, we proved that the structured negativity not only implementable in the laboratory but also a better measure of entanglement in comparison to negativity. In few cases, we obtain that structure negativity gives better result than the lower bound of the concurrence obtained by Albeverio [Phys. Rev. Lett. \textbf{95}, 040504 (2005)].

Structural physical approximation of partial transposition makes possible to distinguish SLOCC inequivalent classes of three-qubit system

Detection and classification of entanglement properties of a multi-qubit system is a topic of great interest. This topic has been studied extensively and thus we found different approaches for the detection and classification of multi-qubit entangled states. We have applied partial transposition operation on one of the qubit of the three-qubit system and then studied the entanglement properties of the three-qubit system, which is under investigation. Since the partial transposition operation is not a quantum operation so we have approximated partial transposition operation in such a way so that it represent a completely positive map. The approximated partial transposition operation is also known as structural physical approximation of partial transposition (SPA-PT). We have studied in detail the application of SPA-PT on a three qubit system and provided explicitly the matrix elements of the density matrix describing SPA-PT of a three qubit system. Moreover, we propose criterion to classify all possible stochastic local operations and classical communication(SLOCC) inequivalent classes of a pure as well as mixed three qubit state through SPA-PT map, which makes our criterion experimentally realizable. We have illustrated our criterion for detection and classification of three-qubit entangled states by considering few examples.

Classification witness operator for the classification of different subclasses of three-qubit GHZ class

It is well known that three-qubit system has two kind of inequivalent genuine entangled classes under stochastic local operation and classical communication (SLOCC). These classes are called as GHZ class and W class. GHZ class proved to be a very useful class for different quantum information processing task such as quantum teleportation, controlled quantum teleportation etc. In this work, we distribute pure three-qubit states from GHZ class into different subclasses denoted by $S_{1}$, $S_{2}$, $S_{3}$, $S_{4}$ and show that the three-qubit states either belong to $S_{2}$ or $S_{3}$ or $S_{4}$ may be more efficient than the three-qubit state belong to $S_{1}$. Thus, it is necessary to discriminate the states belong to $S_{i}, i=2,3,4$ and the state belong to $S_{1}$. To achieve this task, we have constructed different witness operators that can classify the subclasses $S_{i}, i=2,3,4$ from $S_{1}$. We have shown that the constructed witness operator can be decomposed into Pauli matrices and hence can be realized experimentally.

Detection of mixed bipartite entangled state in arbitrary dimension via structural physical approximation of partial transposition

It is very crucial to know that whether the quantum state generated in the experiment is entangled or not. In the literature, this topic was studied extensively and researchers proposed different approaches for the detection of mixed bipartite entangled state in arbitrary dimension. Proceeding in this line of research, we also propose three different criteria for the detection of mixed bipartite negative partial transpose (NPT) entangled state in arbitrary dimension. Our criteria is based on the method of structural physical approximation (SPA) of partial transposition (PT). We have shown that the proposed criteria for the detection of NPT entangled state can be realized experimentally. Two of the proposed criteria is given in terms of the concurrence of the given state in arbitrary dimension so it is essential to find out the concurrence. Thus, we provide new lower and upper bound of concurrence of the quantum state under investigation in terms of average fidelity of two quantum states and hence these bounds can be realized experimentally. Moreover, we have shown how to perform SPA map on qutrit-qubit system and then explicitly calculated the matrix elements of the density matrix describing the SPA-PT of the qutrit-qubit system. We then illustrate our criteria for the detection of entanglement by considering a class of qubit-qubit system and a class of qutrit-qubit system.
