A Baseline Mobility-Aware IRS-Assisted Uplink Framework With Energy-Detection-Based Channel Allocation

This paper develops a self-contained framework for studying a mobility-aware intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted multi-node uplink under simplified but explicit modeling assumptions. The considered system combines direct and IRS-assisted narrowband propagation, geometric IRS phase control with finite-bit phase quantization, adaptive IRS-user focusing based on inverse-rate priority weights, and sequential channel allocation guided by energy detection. The analytical development is restricted to a physics-based two-hop cascaded path-loss formulation with appropriate scaling, an expectation-level reflected-power characterization under the stated independence assumptions, and the exact chi-square threshold for energy detection, together with its large-sample Gaussian approximation. A MATLAB implementation is used to generate a sample run, which is interpreted as a numerical example. This work is intended as a consistent, practically-aligned baseline to support future extensions involving richer mobility models or more advanced scheduling policies.

Hybrid centralized-distributed precoding in fronthaul-constrained CF-mMIMO systems

We investigate a fronthaul-limited cell-free massive multiple-input multiple-output (CF-mMIMO) system and propose a hybrid centralized-distributed precoding strategy that dynamically adapts to varying fronthaul and spectral efficiency (SE) requirements. The proposed approach divides users into two groups: one served by centralized precoding and the other by distributed precoding. We formulate a novel optimization problem for user grouping and power control aimed at maximizing the sum SE, subject to fronthaul and per-access point (AP) power constraints. To tackle the problem, we transform it into a tractable form and propose efficient solution algorithms. Numerical results confirm the hybrid scheme's versatility and superior performance, consistently outperforming fully centralized and distributed approaches across diverse system configurations.

Steady-State Spread Bounds for Graph Diffusion via Laplacian Regularisation in Networked Systems

We study how far a diffusion process on a graph can deviate from a designed starting pattern when the pattern is generated via Laplacian regularisation. Under standard stability conditions for undirected, entrywise nonnegative graphs, we give a closed-form, instance-specific upper bound on the steady-state spread, measured as the relative change between the final and initial profiles. The bound separates two effects: (i) an irreducible term determined by the graph's maximum node degree, and (ii) a design-controlled term that shrinks as the regularisation strength increases (with an inverse square-root law). This leads to a design rule: given any target limit on spread, one can choose a sufficient regularisation strength in closed form. Although one motivating application is array beamforming -- where the initial pattern is the squared magnitude of the beamformer weights -- the result applies to any scenario that first enforces Laplacian smoothness and then evolves by linear diffusion on a graph. Overall, the guarantee is non-asymptotic, easy to compute, and certifies the maximum steady-state deviation.

Analytical Evaluation of Space-Time M-QAM Signaling and Time-Delay Estimation in Multipath Terrestrial Communications

This paper presents novel information-theoretic PHY layer performance improvement for combating the system fading effects in wireless terrestrial communication applications. Robust space-time system strategies in cooperation with the high performance unpunctured serially concatenated codes have been jointly employed. The wireless terrestrial system also uses M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signaling to develop a well-established system modeling for multiple-input single-output (MISO) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) analysis. This research also undertakes the analytical evaluation of time-delay estimation in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) in multipath areas. The objective of this investigation is to develop mathematically-oriented estimations intended for suitable employment in terrestrial communications. This model considers the problem of overlapping the terrestrial signals arrival-times estimation from a noisy received waveform in order to develop a system model for terrestrial TDE.

A Distributed Event-Triggered Control Strategy for DC Microgrids Based on Publish-Subscribe Model Over Industrial Wireless Sensor Networks

This paper presents a complete design, analysis, and performance evaluation of a novel distributed event-triggered control and estimation strategy for DC microgrids. The primary objective of this work is to efficiently stabilize the grid voltage, and to further balance the energy level of the energy storage (ES) systems. The locally-installed distributed controllers are utilised to reduce the number of transmitted packets and battery usage of the installed sensors, based on a proposed event-triggered communication scheme. Also, to reduce the network traffic, an optimal observer is employed which utilizes a modified Kalman consensus filter (KCF) to estimate the state of the DC microgrid via the distributed sensors. Furthermore, in order to effectively provide an intelligent data exchange mechanism for the proposed event-triggered controller, the publish-subscribe communication model is employed to setup a distributed control infrastructure in industrial wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The performance of the proposed control and estimation strategy is validated via the simulations of a DC microgrid composed of renewable energy sources (RESs). The results confirm the appropriateness of the implemented strategy for the optimal utilization of the advanced industrial network architectures in the smart grids.

Modeling and Performance of Microwave and Millimeter-Wave Layered Waveguide Filters

This paper presents novel designs, analysis, and performance of 4-pole and 8-pole microwave and millimeter-wave (MMW) waveguide filters for operation at X and Y frequency bands. The waveguide filters have been designed and analyzed based on the RF mode matching and coupled resonators design techniques employing layered technology. Thorough waveguide filters working at X-band and Y-band have been designed, analyzed, fabricated, and also tested along with the analysis of the output characteristics. Accurate designs of RF waveguides along with their filters based on the E-plane filter concept have been carried out with the ability of fitting into the layered technology in high frequency production techniques. The filters demonstrate the appropriateness in order to develop high-performance well-established designs for systems that are intended for the multi-layer microwave, millimeter- and sub-millimeter-waves devices and systems; with the potential employment in radar, satellite, and radio astronomy applications.

Estimation of Channel Parameters in a Multipath Environment via Optimizing Highly Oscillatory Error-Functions Using a Genetic Algorithm

Channel estimation is of crucial importance for tomorrow's wireless mobile communication systems. This paper focuses on the solution of channel parameters estimation problem in a scenario involving multiple paths in the presence of additive white Gaussian noise. We assumed that number of paths in the multipath environment is known and the transmitted signal consists of attenuated and delayed replicas of a known transient signal. In order to determine the maximum likelihood estimates one has to solve a complicated optimization problem. Genetic Algorithms (GA) are well known for their robustness in solving complex optimization problems. A GA is considered to extract channel parameters to minimize the derived error-function. The solution is based on the maximum-likelihood estimation of the channel parameters. Simulation results also demonstrate GA's robustness to channel parameters estimation errors.

BEP Enhancement for Semi-Femtocell MIMO Systems Employing SC-QICs and OSTBCs

In mobile cellular networks, it is estimated that more than 60% of voice and data services occur indoors. Therefore, cellular network operators have shown an unprecedented interest in research on femtocell systems from various aspects to extend the indoor wireless coverage for providing high-quality and high data-rate wireless multimedia services contents. In an effort for reducing the bit-error probabilities (BEPs) and also increasing bit/symbol capacity of bandwidth limited error-prone wireless channels in femtocell propagation areas, this paper presents the performance of a promising candidate technology designed based on the state-of-the-art techniques. The performance of powerful space-time turbo codes (STTCs) based on serial concatenation of quadratic interleaved codes (SC-QICs) with the optimal and also suboptimal decoding algorithms, in conjunction with orthogonal space-time block codes (OSTBCs) have been presented in this contribution for wireless multiple-input single-output (MISO), and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) semi-femtocells.
