Spin domains in ground state of a trapped spin-1 condensate: A general study under Thomas-Fermi approximation

Investigation of ground state structures and phase separation under confinement is of great interest in spinor Bose Einstein Condensates (BEC). In this paper we show that, in general, within the Thomas-Fermi (T-F) approximation, the phase separation scenario of stationary states can be obtained including all the mixed states on an equal footing for a spin-1 condensate for any confinement. Exact analytical expressions of energy density, being independent of local mass density for all allowed states enables this general analysis under T-F approximation. We study here in details a particular case of spherically symmetric harmonic confinement as an example and show a wide range of potential phase separation scenario for anti-ferromagnetic and ferromagnetic interactions.

Effects of the Quantum Potential on lower dimensional models of analogue gravity

We address the issues related to the presence of the quantum potential term in a BEC on the observable Analogue Gravity systems. We show that the quantum potential term apparently gives rise to massive scalar excitations of length scales of the order $\mathcal{O}(1/ξ)$ in the lower dimensional space. Since, in 'analogue models', there is a window for experimental observations generally in (2 + 1) or even lower dimensional space, one has to take proper account of the presence of these massive excitations to interpret the results.

Does the fluctuation-dissipation relation guarantee equilibrium?

We study a symmetry broken harmonic oscillator in contact with a heat bath characterized by a fixed temperature. The overdampped system is solved exactly to show symmetry broken directed transport raising the question whether fluctuation-dissipation relation does guarantee equilibrium.
