Category $\mathcal{O}$ for Lie superalgebras

The authors define a Category $\mathcal{O}$ for any quasi-reductive Lie superalgebra $\mathfrak{g}$ with respect to a triangular decomposition. This much needed approach unifies many important constructions in the existing literature in a rigorous fashion. Our Category $\mathcal{O}$ encompasses all highest weight categories for Lie (super)algebras as well as specific examples which may not be highest weight categories. When the decomposition arises from a principal parabolic subalgebra $\mathfrak{p}$ of $\mathfrak{g}$, the Category $\mathcal{O}$ exhibits rich homological properties. For one, the authors show that in contrast to the case of a semisimple Lie algebra, the Category $\mathcal{O}$ is standardly stratified. Furthermore, the categorical cohomology of $\mathcal{O}$ is a finitely generated ring. This provides a first step towards developing a support variety theory for Category $\mathcal{O}$. It is shown that the complexity of modules in Category $\mathcal{O}$ is finite with an explicit upper bound given by the dimension of the subspace of the odd degree elements in $\mathfrak{g}$. This upgrades results known for $\mathfrak{gl}(m|n)$ to the more general setting. Our arguments are based on foundational connections between the categorical cohomology and the relative Lie superalgebra cohomology as well as the interplay between Category $\mathcal{O}$ for $\mathfrak{g}$ and the Category $\mathcal{O}$ for its corresponding Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}_{\bar 0}$.

Two-row Delta Springer varieties

We study the geometry and topology of $\Delta$-Springer varieties associated with two-row partitions. These varieties were introduced in recent work by Griffin-Levinson-Woo to give a geometric realization of a symmetric function appearing in the Delta conjecture by Haglund-Remmel-Wilson. We provide an explicit and combinatorial description of the irreducible components of the two-row $\Delta$-Springer variety and compare it to the ordinary two-row Springer fiber as well as Kato's exotic Springer fiber corresponding to a one-row bipartition. In addition to that, we extend the action of the symmetric group on the homology of the two-row $\Delta$-Springer variety to an action of a degenerate affine Hecke algebra and relate this action to a $\mathfrak{gl}_{2}$-tensor space.

Irreducible components of two-row Springer fibers for all classical types

We give an explicit description of the irreducible components of two-row Springer fibers for all classical types using cup diagrams. Cup diagrams can be used to label the irreducible components of two-row Springer fibers. Given a cup diagram, we explicitly write down all flags contained in the component associated to the cup diagram. This generalizes results by Stroppel--Webster and Fung to all classical types.

A study of irreducible components of Springer fibers using quiver varieties

It is a remarkable theorem by Maffei--Nakajima that the Slodowy variety, which is a subvariety of the resolution of the nilpotent cone, can be realized as a Nakajima quiver variety of type A. However, the isomorphism is rather implicit as it takes to solve a system of equations in which the variables are linear maps. In this paper, we construct solutions to this system under certain assumptions. This establishes an explicit and efficient way to compute the image of a complete flag contained in the Slodowy variety under the Maffei--Nakajima isomorphism and describe these flags in terms of quiver representations. As Slodowy varieties contain Springer fibers naturally, we can use these results to provide an explicit description of the irreducible components of two-row Springer fibers in terms of a family of kernel relations via quiver representations.

Irreducible components of two-row Springer fibers and Nakajima quiver varieties

We give an explicit description of the irreducible components of two-row Springer fibers in type A as closed subvarieties in certain Nakajima quiver varieties in terms of quiver representations. By taking invariants under a variety automorphism, we obtain an explicit algebraic description of the irreducible components of two-row Springer fibers of classical type. As a consequence, we discover relations on isotropic flags that describe the irreducible components.

Real Springer fibers and odd arc algebras

We give a topological description of the two-row Springer fiber over the real numbers. We show its cohomology ring coincides with the oddification of the cohomology ring of the complex Springer fiber introduced by Lauda-Russell. We also realize Ozsváth-Rasmussen-Szabó odd TQFT from pullbacks and exceptional pushforwards along inclusion and projection maps between hypertori. Using these results, we construct the odd arc algebra as a convolution algebra over components of the real Springer fiber, giving an odd analogue of a construction of Stroppel-Webster.

Exotic Springer fibers for orbits corresponding to one-row bipartitions

We study the geometry and topology of exotic Springer fibers for orbits corresponding to one-row bipartitions from an explicit, combinatorial point of view. This includes a detailed analysis of the structure of the irreducible components and their intersections as well as the construction of an explicit affine paving. Moreover, we compute the ring structure of cohomology by constructing a CW-complex homotopy equivalent to the exotic Springer fiber. This homotopy equivalent space admits an action of the type C Weyl group inducing Kato's original exotic Springer representation on cohomology. Our results are described in terms of the diagrammatics of the one-boundary Temperley-Lieb algebra (also known as the blob algebra). This provides a first step in generalizing the geometric versions of Khovanov's arc algebra to the exotic setting.

Singular TQFTs, foams and type D arc algebras

We combinatorially describe the $2$-category of singular cobordisms, called (rank one) foams, which governs the functorial version of Khovanov homology. As an application we topologically realize the type $\mathrm{D}$ arc algebra using this singular cobordism construction.

Two-block Springer fibers of types C and D: a diagrammatic approach to Springer theory

We explain an elementary topological construction of the Springer representation on the homology of (topological) Springer fibers of types C and D in the case of nilpotent endomorphisms with two Jordan blocks. The Weyl group and component group actions admit a diagrammatic description in terms of cup diagrams which appear in the definition of arc algebras of types B and D. We determine the decomposition of the representations into irreducibles and relate our construction to classical Springer theory. As an application we obtain presentations of the cohomology rings of all two-block Springer fibers of types C and D. Moreover, we deduce explicit isomorphisms between the Kazhdan-Lusztig cell modules attached to the induced trivial module and the irreducible Specht modules in types C and D.

Topology of two-row Springer fibers for the even orthogonal and symplectic group

We construct an explicit topological model (similar to the topological Springer fibers appearing in work of Khovanov and Russell) for every two-row Springer fiber associated with the even orthogonal group and prove that the respective topological model is homeomorphic to its corresponding Springer fiber. This confirms a conjecture by Ehrig and Stroppel concerning the topology of the equal-row Springer fiber for the even orthogonal group. Moreover, we show that every two-row Springer fiber for the symplectic group is homeomorphic (even isomorphic as an algebraic variety) to a connected component of a certain two-row Springer fiber for the even orthogonal group.
