Quantum evolution of de Sitter black holes near extremality

We study the evolution of charged, asymptotically de Sitter black holes close to the cold extremal branch of the phase space. We consider black hole sizes that are parametrically smaller than both their inverse temperature and the cosmological horizon. Unlike flat space, charged de Sitter black holes do not evolve towards extremality, but rather towards a thermal equilibrium with the cosmological horizon. In the low-temperature regime, the near-horizon physics can be effectively captured by a one-dimensional Schwarzian theory. This is coupled to the far-horizon de Sitter quantum field theory. Incorporating the thermal nature of the cosmological horizon, we compute the quantum energy transfer through uncharged massless scalar particles. The results significantly differ from Hawking's thermal predictions. Black holes that are hotter than the cosmological horizon emit energy at a rate lower than their asymptotically flat counterparts. Whereas much colder ones absorb energy at a nearly constant rate.

Logarithmic corrections to entropy of 3D cosmological solutions from celestial dual

Recently a one-dimensional Schwarzian type theory was proposed as an effective dual theory of pure gravity in (2+1) dimensional asymptotically flat spacetimes \cite{Bhattacharjee:2023sfd}. This codimension-two `celestial' dual captures the Bekenstein-Hawking entropy of bulk flat cosmologies in semiclassical limit. In this paper, we extend this analysis beyond semiclassical approximation and evaluate the one-loop exact partition function of this celestial dual theory. Our analysis results in novel nontrivial logarithmic corrections to the area term of entropy, appearing from the one-loop path integral.

A Matrix Model with BMS$_3$ Constraints

Our goal is to find a matrix model with $BMS_3$ constraints built in. These constraints are imposed through Loop equations. We solve them using a free field realisation of the algebra and write down the partition function in eigenvalue form. We comment on the nature of this partition function and it's relations with integrable systems.

Entropy of Flat Space Cosmologies from Celestial dual

We construct a one-dimensional dual theory that effectively describes the sector of the (2+1)D flat gravity phase space near a Flat Space Cosmology (FSC) saddle labeled by definite mass and angular momentum. This Schwarzian type action describes the dynamics of the (Pseudo-) Goldstone Bosons of BMS$_3$ algebra on a circle as the symmetry is spontaneously and anomalously broken. This 1D theory, living on the celestial circle, provides an explicit construction of a celestial dual in (2+1)D. We use it to calculate the semiclassical entropy of Flat Space Cosmologies and find perfect agreement with existing literature.

$W(0,b)$ algebra and the dual theory of 3D asymptotically flat higher spin gravity

BMS algebra in three spacetime dimensions can be deformed into a two parameter family of algebra known as $W(a,b)$ algebra. For $a=0$, we show that other than $W(0,-1)$, no other $W(0,b)$ algebra admits a non-degenerate bilinear and thus one can not have a Chern-Simons gauge theory formulation with them. However, they may appear in a three-dimensional gravity description, where we also need to have a spin 2 generator, that comes from the $(a=0,b=-1)$ sector. In the present work, we have demonstrated that the asymptotic symmetry algebra of a spin 3 gravity theory on flat spacetime has both the $W(0,-1)$ and $W(0,-2)$ algebras as subalgebras. We have also constructed a dual boundary field theory for this higher spin gravity theory by using the Chern-Simons/Wess-Zumino-Witten correspondence.

JT gravity from holographic reduction of 3D asymptotically flat spacetime

We attempt to understand the CFT$_1$ structure underlying (2+1)D gravity in flat spacetime via dimensional reduction. We observe that under superrotation, the hyperbolic (and dS$_2$) slices of flat spacetime transform to asymptotically (A)dS$_2$ slices. We consider a wedge region bounded by two such surfaces as End-of-the-World branes and employ Wedge holography to perform holographic reduction. We show that once we consider fluctuating branes, the localised theory on the branes is Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) theory. Finally, using the dual description of JT, we derive an 1D Schwarzian theory at the spatial slice of null infinity. In this dual Celestial (nearly) CFT, the superrotation mode of 3D plays the role of the Schwarzian derivative of the boundary time reparametrization mode.

Dual Theory for maximally $\mathcal{N}$ extended flat Supergravity

Maximally $\mathcal{N}$ extended $2+1$ dimensional flat Supergravity theories exist for a class of super-Poincaré algebras for arbitrary $\mathcal{N}$. They have rich asymptotic structures and contain all interesting topological supergravity solutions in presence of non-trivial holonomy. For the asymptotic symmetry algebra being a suitable flat limit of the superconformal algebra $Osp(\mathcal{N}|2;R)$, we have found the $1+1$ dimensional chiral WZW model as the dual quantum field theory that describes the dynamics of these solutions. In the Hamiltonian analysis, the reduced phase space resembles a flat super Liouville theory.

Classical Soft Theorem in the AdS-Schwarzschild spacetime in small cosmological constant limit

We have studied scattering of a probe particle by a four dimensional AdS-Schwarzschild black hole at large impact factor. Our analysis is consistent perturbatively to leading order in the AdS radius and black hole mass parameter. Next we define a proper "soft limit" of the radiation and extract out the "soft factor" from it. We find the correction to the well known flat space Classical Soft graviton theorem due to the presence of an AdS background.

Asymptotic Symmetry and Classical holographic dual of $dS_3$ supergravity

We consider minimal supergravity on (2+1)dimensional de-Sitter background. We fix the fall-off conditions for gravitini fields in order to fix the asymptotic phase space. Using the Chern-Simons formulation, we then derive the asymptotic symmetry algebra for this theory. The fall-off conditions impose constraints on the phase space which reduces the Chern Simons theory to a WZW model. Further constraints reduce it to a super-Liouville theory at the boundary. This can be treated as a classical dual for the supergravity theory in the bulk.

New N=2 SuperBMS$_3$ algebra and Invariant Dual Theory for 3D Supergravity

We have constructed a two dimensional theory dual to 3D asymptotically flat Supergravity in presence of two supercharges with(out) internal $R-$symmetry. The duals in both the cases are identified with chiral Wess-Zumino-Witten models. Further gauging the theories, we show that the dual of the one without $R-$symmetry is invariant under the well known ${\cal{N}}=2$ SuperBMS$_3$ introduced in Banerjee et.al. 1609.09210 , while for the one with $R-$symmetry, the dual is invariant under the most generic, so far unknown, quantum ${\cal{N}}=2$ SuperBMS$_3$ symmetry. We have also commented on the phase space description of the duals.

Maximally $\cal{N}$-extended super-BMS$_3$ algebras and Generalized 3D Gravity Solutions

We consider the maximal $\cal{N}-$extended supergravity theory in 3 dimensions with fermionic generators transforming under real but non necessarily irreducible representations of the internal algebra. We obtain the symmetry algebra at null infinity preserving boundary conditions of asymptotically flat solutions, i.e. the maximal $\cal{N}-$extended super-BMS$_3$ algebra, which possesses non-linear correction in the anti-commutators of supercharges. We present the supersymmetric energy bound and derive the explicit form of the asymptotic Killing spinors. We also find the most generic circular symmetric ground state of the theory, which corresponds to a non-supersymmetric cosmological solutions and derive their entropy.

Unifying averaged dynamics of the Fokker-Planck equation for Paul traps

Collective dynamics of a collisional plasma in a Paul trap is governed by the Fokker-Planck equation, which is usually assumed to lead to a unique asymptotic time-periodic solution irrespective of the initial plasma distribution. This uniqueness is, however, hard to prove in general due to analytical difficulties. For the case of small damping and diffusion coefficients, we apply averaging theory to a special solution to this problem, and show that the averaged dynamics can be represented by a remarkably simple 2D phase portrait, which is independent of the applied rf field amplitude. In particular, in the 2D phase portrait, we have two regions of initial conditions. From one region, all solutions are unbounded. From the other region, all solutions go to a stable fixed point, which represents a unique time-periodic solution of the plasma distribution function, and the boundary between these two is a parabola.
