Leading UV Formula for Finite-Volume Vertex Operator Expectation Values in the Sine-Gordon Model from Kink NLIE

We study the ultraviolet (UV) limit of finite-volume expectation values of vertex operators in the sine-Gordon model using the kink nonlinear integral equation (NLIE) description of the conformal limit. By analysing the integrable formulation of vacuum expectation values in the small-volume regime, we conjecture an explicit analytic expression for the leading asymptotic term in the small-volume expansion, formulated in terms of kink functions. This establishes a direct connection between the integrable finite-volume description and the expected conformal asymptotics determined by the 3-point functions of the underlying conformal field theory (CFT). The proposed formula is tested against the analytic expression known from complex Liouville conformal field theory using high-precision numerics, showing agreement to at least 19 significant digits.

NLIE formulations for the generalized Gibbs ensemble in the sine-Gordon model

In this paper we propose two sets of nonlinear integral equations (NLIE) for describing the thermodynamics in the sine-Gordon model, when higher Lorentz spin conserved charges are also coupled to the Gibbs ensemble. We call them NLIE I and II. The derivation of the equations, is based on T-Q relations given by the equivalent thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) formulation of the problem in the repulsive regime. Though the equations are derived in the repulsive regime at discrete values of the coupling constant, a straightforward analytical continuation ensures their validity within the whole repulsive regime of the theory. For the NLIE I formulation, appropriate analytical continuation makes the penetration into the attractive regime also possible. However, the magnitude of this penetration is restricted by the spin of the largest spin conserved charge contained in the Gibbs ensemble. Within their range of validity, these NLIE formulations provide efficient theoretical frameworks for computing expectation values of conserved charge densities, their associated currents, and vertex operators and their descendants, with respect to the generalized Gibbs ensemble.

Thermodynamics in the Sine-Gordon model: the NLIE approach

In this paper we derive Klümper-Batchelor-Pearce-Destri-de Vega type nonlinear integral equations for describing the thermodynamics in the sine-Gordon model, when a chemical potential coupled to the topological charge is also present in the theory. The equations are valid at any value of the coupling constant and are particularly useful for computing the expectation values of local operators and some currents as functions of the temperature and the chemical potential. The equations are also extended to the case, when an extra term corresponding to the momentum conservation, is added to the thermodynamic potential. The benefits of this description are twofold. On the one hand, it can serve as an appropriate testing ground for other promising theoretical methods, like the method of random surfaces. On the other hand, the efficient computation of vertex operator expectation values, allows one to provide useful theoretical data, for the experimentally measurable coherence factors of a tunnel-coupled cold atomic condensate system.

Running coupling and non-perturbative corrections for O$(N)$ free energy and for disk capacitor

We reconsider the complete solution of the linear TBA equation describing the energy density of finite density states in the $O(N)$ nonlinear sigma models by the Wiener-Hopf method. We keep all perturbative and non-perturbative contributions and introduce a running coupling in terms of which all asymptotic series appearing in the problem can be represented as pure power series without logs. We work out the first non-perturbative contribution in the $O(3)$ case and show that (presumably because of the instanton corrections) resurgence theory fails in this example. Using the relation of the $O(3)$ problem to the coaxial disks capacitor problem we work out the leading non-perturbative terms for the latter and show that (at least to this order) resurgence theory, in particular the median resummation prescription, gives the correct answer. We demonstrate this by comparing the Wiener-Hopf results to the high precision numerical solution of the original integral equation.

Integrable formulation of the OPE coefficients in the UV limit of the sine-Gordon model

In the repulsive regime of the sine-Gordon model, we work out a method, that enables one to formulate the UV limit of finite volume expectation values in terms of the integrable description of the UV limit of the corresponding spectral problem. Since these expectation values are related to 3-point couplings containing at least two identical operators, our computations provide with an integrable formulation to the 3-point couplings of the UV CFT. Our approach is based on the fermionic description of operators in the sine-Gordon theory, in which these expectation values are expressed in terms of a finite number of elements of an infinite matrix. Focusing on vacuum expectation values, in this paper, the first two nontrivial coefficients in the UV series representation of this matrix are expressed in terms of integrability data. This allows one to get an integrable description to some specific ratios of vacuum expectation values in the complex Liouville CFT.

Fast QSC Solver: tool for systematic study of N=4 Super-Yang-Mills spectrum

Integrability methods give us access to a number of observables in the planar N=4 SYM. Among them, the Quantum Spectral Curve (QSC) governs the spectrum of anomalous dimensions. Low lying states were successfully studied in the past using the QSC. However, with the increased demand for a systematic study of a large number of states for various applications, there is a clear need for a fast QSC solver which can easily access a large number of excited states. Here, we fill this gap by developing a new algorithm and applied it to study all 219 states with the bare dimension $Δ_0 \leq 6$ in a wide range of couplings. The new algorithm has an improved performance at weak coupling and allows to glue numerics smoothly the available perturbative data, resolving the previous obstruction. Further ~ 8-fold efficiency gain comes from C++ implementation over the best available Mathematica implementation. We have made the code and the data to be available via a GitHub repository. The method is generalisable for non-local observables as well as for other theories such as deformations of N=4 SYM and ABJM. It may find applications in the separation of variables and bootstrability approaches to the correlation functions. Some applications to correlators at strong coupling are also presented.

Instanton effects vs resurgence in the $O(3)$ sigma model

We investigate the ground-state energy of the integrable two dimensional $O(3)$ sigma model in a magnetic field. By determining a large number of perturbative coefficients we explore the closest singularities of the corresponding Borel function. We then confront its median resummation to the high precision numerical solution of the exact integral equation and observe that the leading exponentially suppressed contribution is not related to the asymptotics of the perturbative coefficients. By analytically expanding the integral equation we calculate the leading non-perturbative contributions up to fourth order and find complete agreement. These anomalous terms could be attributed to instantons, while the asymptotics of the perturbative coefficients seems to be related to renormalons.

Finite volume expectation values in the sine-Gordon model

Using the fermionic basis discovered in the 6-vertex model, we derive exact formulas for the expectation values of local operators of the sine-Gordon theory in any eigenstate of the Hamiltonian. We tested our formulas in the pure multi-soliton sector of the theory. In the ultraviolet limit, we checked our results against Liouville 3-point functions, while in the infrared limit, we evaluated our formulas in the semi-classical limit and compared them upto 2-particle contributions against the semi-classical limit of the previously conjectured LeClair-Mussardo type formula. Complete agreement was found in both cases.

Norm of Bethe-wave functions in the continuum limit

The 6-vertex model with appropriately chosen alternating inhomogeneities gives the so-called light-cone lattice regularization of the sine-Gordon (Massive-Thirring) model. In this integrable lattice model we consider pure hole states above the antiferromagnetic vacuum and express the norm of Bethe-wave functions in terms of the hole's positions and the counting-function of the state under consideration. In the light-cone regularized picture pure hole states correspond to pure soliton (fermion) states of the sine-Gordon (massive Thirring) model. Hence, we analyze the continuum limit of our new formula for the norm of the Bethe-wave functions. We show, that the physically most relevant determinant part of our formula can be expanded in the large volume limit and turns out to be proportional to the Gaudin-determinant of pure soliton states in the sine-Gordon model defined in finite volume.

Exact finite volume expectation values of $\barΨ Ψ$ in the Massive Thirring model from light-cone lattice correlators

In this paper, using the light-cone lattice regularization, we compute the finite volume expectation values of the composite operator $\barΨΨ$ between pure fermion states in the Massive Thirring Model. In the light-cone regularized picture, this expectation value is related to 2-point functions of lattice spin operators being located at neighboring sites of the lattice. The operator $\barΨΨ$ is proportional to the trace of the stress-energy tensor. This is why the continuum finite volume expectation values can be computed also from the set of non-linear integral equations (NLIE) governing the finite volume spectrum of the theory. Our results for the expectation values coming from the computation of lattice correlators agree with those of the NLIE computations. Previous conjectures for the LeClair-Mussardo-type series representation of the expectation values are also checked.

Lattice approach to finite volume form-factors of the Massive Thirring/Sine-Gordon model

In this paper we demonstrate, that the light-cone lattice approach for the Massive-Thirring (sine-Gordon) model, through the quantum inverse scattering method, admits an appropriate framework for computing the finite volume form-factors of local operators of the model. In this work we compute the finite volume diagonal matrix elements of the $U(1)$ conserved current in the pure soliton sector of the theory. Based on the systematic large volume expansion of our results, we conjecture an exact expression for the finite volume expectation values of local operators in pure soliton states. At large volume in leading order these expectation values have the same form as in purely elastic scattering theories, but exponentially small corrections differ from previous Thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz conjectures of purely elastic scattering theories.

Strong coupling results from the numerical solution of the quantum spectral curve

In this paper, we solved numerically the Quantum Spectral Curve (QSC) equations corresponding to some twist-2 single trace operators with even spin from the $sl(2)$ sector of $AdS_5/CFT_4$ correspondence. We describe all technical details of the numerical method which are necessary to implement it in C++ language. In the $S=2,4,6,8$ cases, our numerical results confirm the analytical results, known in the literature for the first 4 coefficients of the strong coupling expansion for the anomalous dimensions of twist-2 operators. In the case of the Konishi operator, due to the high precision of the numerical data we could give numerical predictions to the values of two further coefficients, as well. The strong coupling behaviour of the coefficients $c_{a,n}$ in the power series representation of the ${\bf P}_{\!a}$-functions is also investigated. Based on our numerical data, in the regime, where the index of the coefficients is much smaller than $λ^{1/4}$, we conjecture that the coefficients have polynomial index dependence at strong coupling. This allows one to propose a strong coupling series representation for the ${\bf P}$-functions being valid far enough from the real short cut. In the paper the qualitative strong coupling behaviour of the ${\bf P}$-functions at the branch points is also discussed.

Extensive numerical study of a D-brane, anti-D-brane system in AdS5/CFT4

In this paper the hybrid-NLIE approach of [38] is extended to the ground state of a D-brane anti-D-brane system in AdS/CFT. The hybrid-NLIE equations presented in the paper are finite component alternatives of the previously proposed TBA equations and they admit an appropriate framework for the numerical investigation of the ground state of the problem. Straightforward numerical iterative methods fail to converge, thus new numerical methods are worked out to solve the equations. Our numerical data confirm the previous TBA data. In view of the numerical results the mysterious L = 1 case is also commented in the paper.

The spectrum of tachyons in AdS/CFT

We analyze the spectrum of open strings stretched between a D-brane and an anti-D-brane in planar AdS/CFT using various tools. We focus on open strings ending on two giant gravitons with different orientation in $AdS_5 \times S^5$ and study the spectrum of string excitations using the following approaches: open spin-chain, boundary asymptotic Bethe ansatz and boundary thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (BTBA). We find agreement between a perturbative high order diagrammatic calculation in ${\cal N}=4$ SYM and the leading finite-size boundary Luscher correction. We study the ground state energy of the system at finite coupling by deriving and numerically solving a set of BTBA equations. While the numerics give reasonable results at small coupling, they break down at finite coupling when the total energy of the string gets close to zero, possibly indicating that the state turns tachyonic. The location of the breakdown is also predicted analytically.

Reformulating the TBA equations for the quark anti-quark potential and their two loop expansion

The boundary thermodynamic Bethe Ansatz (BTBA) equations introduced in arXiv:1203.1913 and arXiv:1203.1617 to describe the cusp anomalous dimension contain imaginary chemical potentials and singular boundary fugacities, which make its systematic expansion problematic. We propose an alternative formulation based on real chemical potentials and additional source terms. We expand our equations to double wrapping order and find complete agreement with the direct two-loop gauge theory computation of the cusp anomalous dimension.

$AdS_5\times S^5$ mirror TBA equations from Y-system and discontinuity relations

Using the recently proposed set of discontinuity relations we translate the AdS/CFT Y-system to TBA integral equations and quantization conditions for a large subset of excited states from the sl(2) sector of the $AdS_5 \times S^5$ string sigma-model. Our derivation provides an analytic proof of the fact that the exact Bethe equations reduce to the Beisert-Staudacher equations in the asymptotic limit. We also construct the corresponding T-system and show that in the language of T-functions the energy formula reduces to a single term which depends on a single T-function.

Hybrid-NLIE for the AdS/CFT spectral problem

Hybrid-NLIE equations, an alternative finite NLIE description for the spectral problem of the super sigma model of AdS/CFT and its gamma-deformations are derived by replacing the semi-infinite SU(2) and SU(4) parts of the AdS/CFT TBA equations by a few appropriately chosen complex NLIE variables, which are coupled among themselves and to the Y-functions associated to the remaining central nodes of the TBA diagram. The integral equations are written explicitly for the ground state of the gamma-deformed system. We linearize these NLIE equations, analytically calculate the first correction to the asymptotic solution and find agreement with analogous results coming from the original TBA formalism. Our equations differ substantially from the recently published finite FiNLIE formulation of the spectral problem.

Quasi-local formulation of the mirror TBA

We present a method of removing all infinite sums from the various forms of the mirror TBA equations and the energy formula of the AdS/CFT spectral problem. This new formulation of the TBA system is quasi-local because Y-functions that are connected by the TBA equations are at most next to nearest neighbors with respect to the Y-system diagram of AdS/CFT.
