Towards non-commutative crepant resolutions of affine toric Gorenstein varieties

In this paper we prove a common generalisation of results by Špenko-Van den Bergh and Iyama-Wemyss that can be used to generate non-commutative crepant resolutions (NCCRs) of some affine toric Gorenstein varieties. We use and generalise results by Novaković to study NCCRs for affine toric Gorenstein varieties associated to cones over polytopes with interior points. As a special case, we consider the case where the polytope is reflexive with $\le \dim P+2$ vertices, using results of Borisov and Hua to show the existence of NCCRs.

Counting higher-rank sheaves on toric threefolds

We develop an equivariant K-theoretic vertex formalism for a colored, abelianized higher-rank sector on smooth projective toric threefolds $X$. Nonzero first Chern classes are encoded as magnetic fluxes and absorbed into line-bundle twists, after which the virtual character is redistributed into finite perturbative, vertex, and edge contributions. We compute the resulting (unreduced and trace-free) virtual dimensions and analyze the interaction terms relevant to a possible reduction to rank one. We emphasize that, on a compact toric threefold, colored partitions do not classify all torus-fixed stable higher-rank sheaves: the resulting series is therefore a proposed abelianized/framed vertex series unless an additional comparison theorem with the full stable-sheaf moduli problem is supplied. When the threefold obstruction theory is not available in the desired form, we pass to the local Calabi--Yau fourfold $Y=\operatorname{Tot}(K_X)$ and formulate the corresponding colored DT4 vertex. A $K_X$-twisted tautological insertion removes fixed points with nontrivial fiber layers, reducing solid partitions to plane partitions at the level of the local vertex. In rank one we give a scheme-theoretic explanation: the Hilbert functor of subschemes of $X$ is canonically isomorphic to the constrained Hilbert functor of subschemes of $Y$ lying scheme-theoretically in the fixed zero section. Under the hypotheses of the DT4 K-theoretic Lefschetz/virtual-pullback formalism, the associated support insertion reduces the rank-one fourfold theory to the threefold theory. We keep this global rank-one statement logically distinct from the higher-rank colored-vertex reduction.

Tropicalization of super Gromov-Witten invariants

We show that genus-0, $n$ Neveu-Schwarz marked, super Gromov-Witten invariants of a convex, toric variety $X$ can be defined and computed using tropical geometry. When $X$ is a point, the tropical, super Gromov-Witten invariants of $X$ are descendant invariants on the moduli space of tropical curves. When $X$ is a general convex, toric variety, we define a procedure that computes the tropical, inverse Euler class of the SUSY normal bundle $\overline{N}_{n, β} \rightarrow \overline{\mathcal{M}}_{0,n}(X, β)$, under the assumption that $\overline{N}_{n, β}$ is in some sense locally tropicalizable. We define the tropical, genus-0, $n$ Neveu-Schwarz marked, super Gromov-Witten invariants of $X$, and show that the definition recovers the tropical, super Gromov-Witten invariants of a point. We compute a tropical, super Gromov-Witten invariant of $\mathbb{P}^1$.

On the image of Hitchin morphism for some classical groups on algebraic surfaces

In this article, we study the image of the Hitchin morphism for some classical groups over an algebraic surface. The Hitchin morphism is a map from the moduli stack of $G$-Higgs bundles $\mathscr{M}_{X,G}$ to the Hitchin base $\mathscr{A}_{X,G}$, where $X$ is a smooth projective variety. In general, this morphism is not surjective when the dimension of $X$ is greater than one. Chen and Ng{ô} showed that the Hitchin morphism factors through a closed subscheme $\mathscr{B}_{X,G}$ of the Hitchin base, which is called the spectral base. They conjectured that the image of the Hitchin morphism is exactly the spectral base. When $X$ is a smooth projective surface, we prove that this conjecture holds for the special linear algebraic group of odd rank. We also confirm this conjecture for the classical groups ${\rm SL}_n$ and ${\rm Sp}_{2n}$ when $X$ is a product of smooth curves.

Derived Moduli Spaces of Nonlinear PDEs: Singular Propagations

We construct a sheaf theoretic and derived geometric machinery to study nonlinear partial differential equations and their singular supports. We establish a notion of derived microlocalization for solution spaces of non-linear equations and develop a formalism to pose and solve singular non-linear Cauchy problems globally. Using this approach we estimate the domains of propagation for the solutions of non-linear systems. It is achieved by exploiting the fact that one may greatly enrich and simplify the study of derived non-linear PDEs over a space $X$ by studying its derived linearization which is a module over the sheaf of functions on the $S^1$-equivariant derived loop stack $\mathcal{L}X$.

Toric Landau-Ginzburg models in threefold divisorial contractions

We investigate quantum periods and toric Landau-Ginzburg models under divisorial contractions of terminal Fano threefolds. Let $g:Y \rightarrow X$ be a divisorial contraction between $\mathbb{Q}$-factorial Fano threefolds with ordinary terminal singularities and $E$ be the exceptional divisor. Assuming that the center of the contraction is either a smooth point, a terminal quotient point, a point of type cA/n, or a smooth curve with singularities of type cA or cA/n, we prove the regularized period identity $$ \lim_{r\to+\infty}\hat{G}_{Y,rE}(t)=\hat{G}_X(t) $$ where $\hat{G}_{Y,rE}(t)$ and $\hat{G}_X(t)$ are the regularized quantum periods of $(Y,rE)$ and $X$ respectively. This gives a mirror approach to the computation of the Sarkisov links and higher syzygies of central models of dimension 3.

Yau's Affine-Normal Descent for Large-Scale Unrestricted Higher-Moment Portfolio Optimization

Unrestricted mean-variance-skewness-kurtosis portfolio optimization can capture asymmetry and tail risk, but sample-moment formulations become computationally impractical when the asset universe is large: they produce dense nonconvex quartic objectives with prohibitive coskewness and cokurtosis tensors and anisotropic, ill-conditioned level sets. We develop a structure-exploiting algorithm based on Yau's affine-normal descent that follows affine-normal directions of the current level set while working directly with the return matrix. The method avoids explicit higher-order tensors and exploits the quartic structure for exact sample oracles, derivative evaluation, and exact line search. We also provide theory for the reduced simplex formulation, including regularity and convexity conditions that separate data-map geometry from investor preference coefficients. Computational results show a clear implementation split: a direct configuration is effective on the standard small benchmark, whereas a preconditioned conjugate-gradient configuration with stall recovery becomes the preferred large-scale implementation by the upper end of the hundreds and remains competitive as the asset universe moves into the thousands. On a 5-minute A-share panel with 5,440 stocks, the method makes direct full-universe comparisons with exact mean-variance portfolios feasible and shows on the baseline split that the incremental value of higher moments is strongest at moderate return targets.

Yau's Affine Normal Descent: Algorithmic Framework and Convergence Analysis

We propose Yau's Affine Normal Descent (YAND), a geometric framework for smooth unconstrained optimization in which search directions are defined by the equi-affine normal of level-set hypersurfaces. The resulting directions are invariant under volume-preserving affine transformations and intrinsically adapt to anisotropic curvature. Using the analytic representation of the affine normal from affine differential geometry, we establish its equivalence with the classical slice-centroid construction under convexity. For strictly convex quadratic objectives, affine-normal directions are collinear with Newton directions, implying one-step convergence under exact line search. For general smooth (possibly nonconvex) objectives, we characterize precisely when affine-normal directions yield strict descent and develop a line-search-based YAND. We establish global convergence under standard smoothness assumptions, linear convergence under strong convexity and Polyak-Lojasiewicz conditions, and quadratic local convergence near nondegenerate minimizers. We further show that affine-normal directions are robust under affine scalings, remaining insensitive to arbitrarily ill-conditioned transformations. Numerical experiments illustrate the geometric behavior of the method and its robustness under strong anisotropic scaling.

Affine Normal Directions via Log-Determinant Geometry: Scalable Computation under Sparse Polynomial Structure

Affine normal directions provide intrinsic affine-invariant descent directions derived from the geometry of level sets. Their practical use, however, has long been hindered by the need to evaluate third-order derivatives and invert tangent Hessians, which becomes computationally prohibitive in high dimensions. In this paper, we show that affine normal computation admits an exact reduction to second-order structure: the classical third-order contraction term is precisely the gradient of the log-determinant of the tangent Hessian. This identity replaces explicit third-order tensor contraction by a matrix-free formulation based on tangent linear solves, Hessian-vector products, and log-determinant gradient evaluation. Building on this reduction, we develop exact and stochastic matrix-free procedures for affine normal evaluation. For sparse polynomial objectives, the algebraic closure of derivatives further yields efficient sparse kernels for gradients, Hessian-vector products, and directional third-order contractions, leading to scalable implementations whose cost is governed by the sparsity structure of the polynomial representation. We establish end-to-end complexity bounds showing near-linear scaling with respect to the relevant sparsity scale under fixed stochastic and Krylov budgets. Numerical experiments confirm that the proposed MF-LogDet formulation reproduces the original autodifferentiation-based affine normal direction to near machine precision, delivers substantial runtime improvements in moderate and high dimensions, and exhibits empirical near-linear scaling in both dimension and sparsity. These results provide a practical computational route for affine normal evaluation and reveal a new connection between affine differential geometry, log-determinant curvature, and large-scale structured optimization.

Hodge rigidity of Chern classes

In this paper, we study the homogeneous components of the Chern--Schwartz--MacPherson (CSM) classes of Schubert cells. We prove that, under suitable conditions, each such component is represented by an irreducible subvariety. In particular, our result extends Huh's result \cite{Huh} by relaxing the regularity assumption on log resolutions. As a consequence, the conclusion holds for all cominuscule Schubert cells of classical type and for a large family of exceptional cases. We also obtain analogous results for certain Schubert varieties in symplectic Grassmannians and flag varieties.

Microlocal index theorems and analytic torsion invariants in the geometric theory of partial differential equations

We develop a microlocal and derived-geometric framework for index theory and analytic torsion of nonlinear PDEs. By integrating Spencer hypercohomology, microlocal sheaf theory, and factorization algebras, we establish new connections between classical index theorems, BCOV invariants of Calabi-Yau manifolds, and the geometry of configuration spaces. We prove sheaf-theoretic index formulas for families of formally integrable PDEs, a microlocal index theorem for D-algebras generalizing Atiyah-Singer, and a mixed-type index theorem via microlocal stratification. We construct Ray-Singer analytic torsion for involutive systems and show that the BCOV invariant equals the Spencer torsion of the de Rham system. A categorical trace interpretation leads to a virtual index theory for derived moduli spaces of solutions. Finally, we extend the theory to configuration spaces using factorization algebras, with applications to renormalization and QFT. These results unify geometric perspectives on PDEs, torsion invariants, and moduli theory, with implications for mirror symmetry, quantum fields, and Calabi-Yau degenerations.

Non-commutative crepant resolutions for (almost) simplicial toric algebras

Given a rational convex polyhedral Gorenstein cone constructed as cone over a lattice polytope P, we establish that toric non-commutative crepant resolutions (NCCRs) of its associated toric algebra descend to toric NCCRs of the algebras associated to faces of the polytope P. As consequence, we present two new, short proofs to the existence of toric NCCRs for simplicial affine toric Gorenstein algebras and for almost simplicial affine toric Gorenstein algebras, i.e. those associated to cones $σ$ with $\dimσ+1$ extremal rays.

Sheaf stable pairs on projective surfaces and birational geometry

We study moduli space of higher rank marginally stable pairs (E,s:= (s_1,..., s_r)) consisting of torsion free coherent sheaf E of rank r and r sections (s_1,..., s_r) on a smooth projective surface. Having fixed the Chern character of E, the resulting moduli space is isomorphic to some subscheme of the Quot-scheme parametrising quotient sheaves of appropriate Chern character. We establish a connection between moduli space of higher rank stable pairs and stable minimal models induced by the sheaf E and sections s_i and the relative lc model of base surface, and use birational geometry of minimal models to analyse in detail the components of the fibre of the Hilbert-Chow morphism from the moduli space to the Hilbert scheme of effective Cartier divisors on the base surface.

Tyurin Degenerations, Derived Lagrangians and Categorification of DT Invariants

We consider the moduli space of rigidified perfect complexes with support on a general complete intersection Calabi-Yau threefold $X$ and its Tyurin degeneration $X\rightsquigarrow X_1\cup_SX_2$ to a complete intersection of Fano threefolds $X_1,X_2$ meeting along their anti-canonical divisor $S$. The corresponding derived dg moduli scheme over the generic fiber degenerates to the (Fano) moduli spaces $\mathcal{M}_{1}, \mathcal{M}_{2},$ of perfect complexes supported on each Fano which glue after derived restriction to the relative divisor $S$. We prove that the total moduli space of the degeneration family carries a relative Lagrangian foliation structure, which implies the existence of a flat Gauss-Manin connection on periodic cyclic homology of the category of the matrix factorizations associated with fiber-wise moduli spaces, realized locally as the derived critical loci of suitable potential functions. The Fano moduli spaces each define derived Lagrangians in the (ambient) moduli space of restricted complexes to the relative divisor $S$. The flatness of the Gauss-Manin connection implies the derived geometric deformation invariance of the categorified DT-invariants associated to fiberwise matrix factorization categories, hence, the categorified DT-invariants of the generic fiber are expressed in terms of a derived intersection cohomology of the corresponding Fano moduli spaces on the special fiber.

The $\mathcal{D}$-Geometric Hilbert Scheme -- Part II: Hilbert and Quot DG-Schemes

This is the second in a series of two papers developing a moduli-theoretic framework for differential ideal sheaves associated with formally integrable, involutive systems of algebraic partial differential equations (PDEs). Building on earlier work, which established the existence of moduli stacks for such systems with prescribed regularity and stability conditions, we now construct a derived enhancement of these moduli spaces. We prove the derived $\mathcal{D}$-Quot functor admits a global differential graded refinement representable by a suitable differential graded $\mathcal{D}$-manifold. We further analyze the finiteness, representability, and functoriality properties of these derived moduli spaces, establishing foundations for a derived deformation theory of algebraic differential equations.

The $\mathcal{D}$-Geometric Hilbert Scheme -- Part I: Involutivity and Stability

We construct a moduli space of formally integrable and involutive ideal sheaves arising from systems of partial differential equations (PDEs) in the algebro-geometric setting, by introducing the $\mathcal{D}$-Hilbert and $\mathcal{D}$-Quot functors in the sense of Grothendieck and establishing their representability. Central to this construction is the notion of Spencer (semi-)stability, which presents an extension of classical stability conditions from gauge theory and complex geometry, and which provides the boundedness needed for our moduli problem. As an application, we show that for flat connections on compact Kähler manifolds, Spencer poly-stability of the associated PDE ideal is equivalent to the existence of a Hermitian-Yang-Mills metric. This result provides a refinement of the classical Donaldson-Uhlenbeck-Yau correspondence, and identifies Spencer cohomology and stability as a unifying framework for geometric PDEs.

Geography of Landau-Ginzburg models and threefold syzygies

We study the behavior of toric Landau-Ginzburg models under extremal contraction and minimal model program. We also establish a relation between the moduli space of toric Landau-Ginzburg models and the geography of central models. We conjecture that there is a correspondence between extremal contractions and minimal model program on Fano varieties, and degenerations of their associated toric Landau-Ginzburg models written explicitly. We prove the conjectures for smooth toric varieties, as well as general smooth Fano varieties in dimensions 2 and 3. As an application, we compute the elementary syzygies for smooth Fano threefolds.

On the normality of commuting scheme for general linear Lie algebra

The commuting scheme $\mathfrak{C}^{d}_{\mathfrak{g}}$ for reductive Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ over an algebraically closed field $\mathbb{K}$ is the subscheme of $\mathfrak{g}^{d}$ defined by quadratic equations, whose $\mathbb{K}$-valued points are $d$-tuples of commuting elements in $\mathfrak{g}$ over $\mathbb{K}$. There is a long-standing conjecture that the commuting scheme $\mathfrak{C}^{d}_{\mathfrak{g}}$ is reduced. Moreover, a higher dimensional analog of Chevalley restriction conjecture was conjectured by Chen-Ngô. We show that the commuting scheme of $\mathfrak{C}^{2}_{\mathfrak{g}l_{n}}$ is Cohen-Macaulay and normal. As a corollary, we prove a 2-dimensional Chevalley restriction theorem for general linear group in positive characteristic.
