PEE threads and bit-threads in BTZ black brane and finite-cutoff AdS$_3$

We develop PEE thread flows for the planar BTZ black brane and finite-cutoff holography. Exact geodesic-distance kernels define source-resolved PEE thread currents whose superposition gives divergenceless bit-thread fields. In BTZ, boundary-boundary and boundary-horizon sectors reproduce the entanglement contour and thermal horizon flux. At finite cutoff, the two-point PEE kernels are smooth and select macroscopic flows that are generically non-geodesic despite being built from geodesic elementary threads. We compare these PEE-selected flows with independent normal-geodesic bit-thread flows and show that they saturate the same RT bottleneck while differing in boundary calibration, endpoint pairing and off-bottleneck structure. The resulting constructions make explicit both the endpoint organization of finite-cutoff entanglement and the nonuniqueness of holographic max flows.

Minimizing risk measures with applications in network traffic engineering

This paper presents a novel two-stage optimization framework designed to model integrated quantile functions, which leads to the formulation of a bilinear optimization problem (P). A specific instance of this framework offers a new approach to minimizing the Value-at-risk (Var) and the Conditional Value-at-risk (CVar), thus providing a broader perspective on risk assessment and optimization. We investigate various convexification techniques to under- and over-estimate the optimal value of (P), resulting in new and tighter lower- and upper-convex estimators for the Var minimization problems. Furthermore, we explore the properties and implications of the bilinear optimization problem (P) in connection to the integrated quantile functions. Finally, to illustrate the practical applications of our approach, we present computational comparisons in the context of real-life network traffic engineering problems, demonstrating the effectiveness of our proposed framework.

Butterfly effect and $\textrm{T}\overline{\textrm{T}}$-deformation

These notes present a comprehensive analysis of shockwave geometries in holographic settings, focusing on $\textrm{T}\overline{\textrm{T}}$-deformed BTZ black holes and their extensions. By constructing deformed metrics and employing Kruskal coordinates, we examine out-of-time-ordered correlators (OTOCs) as probes of quantum chaos. We also study localized shockwave solutions and analyze their backreaction, highlighting regimes in which the Mezei-Stanford bound on the butterfly velocity is potentially violated. The results obtained via shockwave methods are corroborated with recent developments in pole-skipping phenomena and the entanglement wedge approach, demonstrating consistency among distinct probes of chaos in holographic theories.

Reflected entropy and islands in a braneworld cosmology

This work investigates the nature of mixed state entanglement and correlation in a braneworld cosmological model, where the bulk geometry is described by an eternal BTZ black hole truncated by an end-of-the-world brane representing a Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) cosmology. We explore the holographic reflected entropy for both adjacent and disjoint subsystems using the island prescription and the defect extremal surface prescription. In the large central charge limit, we demonstrate that both prescriptions yield an exact agreement. Additionally, we analyze the time evolution of reflected entropy and holographic mutual information, along with an analysis of the geometric Markov gap. Our study provides new insights into the role of quantum extremal surfaces in probing black hole interiors and cosmological spacetimes, with implications for understanding mixed state entanglement and quantum information dynamics in holographic cosmological models.

Beyond Convexity: Proximal-Perturbed Lagrangian Methods for Efficient Functional Constrained Optimization

Non-convex functional constrained optimization problems have gained substantial attention in machine learning and data science, addressing broad requirements that typically go beyond the often performance-centric objectives. An influential class of algorithms for functional constrained problems is the class of primal-dual methods which has been extensively analyzed for convex problems. Nonetheless, the investigation of their efficacy for non-convex problems is under-explored. This paper develops a primal-dual algorithmic framework for solving such non-convex problems. This framework is built upon a novel form of the Lagrangian function, termed the {\em Proximal-Perturbed Augmented Lagrangian}, which enables the development of simple first-order algorithms that converge to a stationary solution under mild conditions. Notably, we study this framework under both non-smoothness and smoothness of the constraint function and provide three key contributions: (i) a simple algorithm that does not require the continuous adjustment of the penalty parameter; (ii) a non-asymptotic iteration complexity of $\widetilde{\mathcal{O}}(1/\epsilon^2)$; and (iii) extensive experimental results demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed framework in terms of computational cost and performance, outperforming related approaches that use regularization (penalization) techniques and/or standard Lagrangian relaxation across diverse non-convex problems.

Entanglement islands and cutoff branes from path-integral optimization

Recently it was proposed that, the AdS/BCFT correspondence can be simulated by a holographic Weyl transformed CFT$_2$, where the cut-off brane plays the role of the Karch-Randall (KR) brane \cite{Basu:2022crn}. In this paper, we focus on the Weyl transformation that optimizes the path integral computation of the reduced density matrix for a single interval in a holographic CFT$_2$. When we take the limit that one of the endpoint of the interval goes to infinity (a half line), such a holographic Weyl transformed CFT$_2$ matches the AdS/BCFT configuration for a BCFT with one boundary. Without taking the limit, the induced cutoff brane becomes a circle passing through the two endpoints of the interval. We assume that the cutoff brane also plays the same role as the KR brane in AdS/BCFT, hence the path-integral-optimized purification for the interval is in the island phase. This explains the appearance of negative mutual information observed in \cite{Camargo:2022mme}. We check that, the entanglement entropy and the balanced partial entanglement entropy (BPE) calculated via the island formulas, exactly match with the RT formula and the entanglement wedge cross-section (EWCS), which are allowed to anchor on the cutoff brane.

Islands and dynamics at the interface

We investigate a family of models described by two holographic CFT$_2$s coupled along a shared interface. The bulk dual geometry consists of two AdS$_3$ spacetimes truncated by a shared Karch-Randall end-of-the-world (EOW) brane. A lower dimensional effective model comprising of JT gravity coupled to two flat CFT$_2$ baths is subsequently realized by considering small fluctuations on the EOW brane and implementing a partial Randall-Sundrum reduction where the transverse fluctuations of the EOW brane are identified as the dilaton field. We compute the generalized entanglement entropy for bipartite states through the island prescription in the effective lower dimensional picture and obtain precise agreement in the limit of large brane tension with the corresponding doubly holographic computations in the bulk geometry. Furthermore, we obtain the corresponding Page curves for the Hawking radiation in this JT braneworld.

Reflected Entropy for Communicating Black Holes II: Planck Braneworlds

We obtain the reflected entropy for bipartite mixed state configurations of two adjacent and disjoint subsystems at a finite temperature in finite-sized non-gravitating reservoirs described by $CFT_2$s each coupled to two quantum dots at their boundaries in the large central charge limit through a replica technique. These field theory results are substantiated through a holographic computation involving the entanglement wedge cross section in the dual bulk BTZ black hole geometry truncated by two Planck branes. The two Planck branes are the holographic duals of the quantum dots described by $AdS_2$ slices with JT black holes. Our results reproduce the holographic duality between the reflected entropy and the bulk entanglement wedge cross section in the context of the $AdS_3/CFT_2$ correspondence. Subsequently we analyze the behaviour of the holographic Markov gap between the reflected entropy and the mutual information for different scenarios involving the subsystem sizes and time.

Reflected Entropy for Communicating Black Holes I: Karch-Randall Braneworlds

We obtain the reflected entropy for bipartite mixed state configurations of two adjacent and disjoint intervals at a finite temperature in $BCFT_2$s with two distinct boundaries through a replica technique in the large central charge limit. Subsequently these field theory results are reproduced from bulk computations involving the entanglement wedge cross section in the dual BTZ black hole geometry truncated by two Karch-Randall branes. Our result confirms the holographic duality between the reflected entropy and the bulk entanglement wedge cross section in the context of the $AdS_3/BCFT_2$ scenario. We further investigate the critical issue of the holographic Markov gap between the reflected entropy and the mutual information for these configurations from the bulk braneworld geometry and study its variation with subsystem sizes and time.

Islands for Entanglement Negativity in Communicating Black Holes

We obtain the holographic entanglement negativity for bipartite mixed states at a finite temperature in baths described by conformal field theories dual to configurations involving two communicating black holes in a braneworld geometry. In this context, we analyze the mixed state entanglement structure characterized by the information transfer between the black holes. The model corresponds to a configuration of two dimensional eternal JT black holes in a braneworld geometry involving two Planck branes coupled through shared bath systems described by $CFT_2$s. Our results reproduce analogue of the Page curves for the entanglement negativity obtained earlier in the context of random matrix theory and from geometric evaporation in JT black hole configurations.

Entanglement Wedge in Flat Holography and Entanglement Negativity

We establish a construction for the entanglement wedge in asymptotically flat bulk geometries for subsystems in dual $(1+1)$-dimensional Galilean conformal field theories in the context of flat space holography. In this connection we propose a definition for the bulk entanglement wedge cross section for bipartite states of such dual non relativistic conformal field theories. Utilizing our construction for the entanglement wedge cross section we compute the entanglement negativity for such bipartite states through the generalization of an earlier proposal, in the context of the usual $AdS/CFT$ scenario, to flat space holography. The entanglement negativity obtained from our construction exactly reproduces earlier holographic results and match with the corresponding field theory replica technique results in the large central charge limit.

Entanglement Negativity in Flat Holography

We advance holographic constructions for the entanglement negativity of bipartite states in a class of $(1+1)-$dimensional Galilean conformal field theories dual to asymptotically flat three dimensional bulk geometries described by Einstein Gravity and Topologically Massive Gravity. The construction involves specific algebraic sums of the lengths of bulk extremal curves homologous to certain combinations of the intervals appropriate to such bipartite states. Our analysis exactly reproduces the corresponding replica technique results in the large central charge limit. We substantiate our construction through a semi classical analysis involving the geometric monodromy technique for the case of two disjoint intervals in such Galilean conformal field theories dual to bulk Einstein Gravity.

Web spam classification using supervised artificial neural network algorithms

Due to the rapid growth in technology employed by the spammers, there is a need of classifiers that are more efficient, generic and highly adaptive. Neural Network based technologies have high ability of adaption as well as generalization. As per our knowledge, very little work has been done in this field using neural network. We present this paper to fill this gap. This paper evaluates performance of three supervised learning algorithms of artificial neural network by creating classifiers for the complex problem of latest web spam pattern classification. These algorithms are Conjugate Gradient algorithm, Resilient Backpropagation learning, and Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm.

Low cost page quality factors to detect web spam

Web spam is a big challenge for quality of search engine results. It is very important for search engines to detect web spam accurately. In this paper we present 32 low cost quality factors to classify spam and ham pages on real time basis. These features can be divided in to three categories: (i) URL features, (ii) Content features, and (iii) Link features. We developed a classifier using Resilient Back-propagation learning algorithm of neural network and obtained good accuracy. This classifier can be applied to search engine results on real time because calculation of these features require very little CPU resources.
